Seems like this er, event has been in the offing forever, but tomorrow it finally takes place. Think there's 16 competitors, and I think a bunch of 'em have NHL experience. It starts at 9pm EST, and seems to be available on every PPV outlet known to man, along with a webcast (it was $9.95, but it's $14.95 the day of the event...guess I should've posted this sooner, heh). Anyway, the event could be good for some laughs or a complete and utter horror show, but either way here's hoping no one gets seriously hurt.

Oh yeah, here's a site with clips from a few hockey fights to get you in the mood, including the classic Probert/McSorley tilt at the top of the page.

wings signed rfa kronvall to a 2-year deal rumored at 1mil per.

hopefully pavel and zetterberg are signed by camp and all will be right with the world.

:lol No, if Yahoo or anything or anyone has Sundin ranked as the third overall hockey player - whether in fantasy hockey or whatever - then they do not know more than me. Because any jackass knows Sundin isn't the third ranked anything in the NHL. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player and I like him, but shit find me the link showing me that Yahoo has him ranked 3rd overall right now. Please. Because while he may have been that high 2 years ago due to Yahoo's goofy 6x4 stats for hockey, he sure won't be ranked #3 going into this year.

Again, :lol.

EDIT: sure enough, it WAS due to Yahoo's default rankings. The same '03-'04 rankings that have Bill Guerin #4 overall. And Keith Tkachuk #6. I guess that means, like Yahoo, you have Guerin ranked in your own personal top 5 players in hockey list right? Because I'm sure Yahoo knows more than you do.

SUNDIN IS GOD!!!

It's a statement completely supported by history.... but of course untrue. That is, unless Naslund relinquishes his captaincy before the 2006 Stanley Cup.

Strange that God can't even get to the conference semi-finals.

Pretty much if your captain is not NAmerican you can't win the cup.

obviously where you are born >>>>>> talent. great logic, where can i buy your book?

The rumor is Brad Richards for Ryder, Hainsey and a 3rd rounder.

I say bullshit. Richards is worth much more than that.

Eklund posted it as an E3. That's halfway inbetween confirmed and bullshit.

That wasn't the comment that was there pre-edit, which Bish was responding to.

Yup. Here's the original bon mot, full of wit and valuable insight:

Somebody back up a big dump truck full of rolleyes, please! Dump 'em on acidviper's lawn.

I still agreed with bish, though now I understand the intensity a little more. :)

The first time I had a similar conversation I struggled to think of a non-Canadian Cup captain. Has there been one besides Hatcher?

Rumour: Montreal has already gotten Richards for Ryder, Hainsey, and 3rd round pick in 2006, according to CBC radiostation in Newfoundland.

Rumour 2: Leafs will trade Antropov, Kaberle and Colaiacovo for Kronwall and Zetterberg.

I kind of like Antropov and Kaberle :(

Ryder Hainsey and a pick is a justifiable trade for Richards, but regardless its still a lot to give up.

Losing Ryder would break me heart, 'cause that kid is heart and soul, he gave it all he had on a consistent basis last season, and it showed with his 60+ point season.

The thing is, If his last season wasn't a fluke(I dont think it was) then this kid in my eyes is on the road to being the kind of player that Richards is right now, except the fact that Ryder will develop into a much tougher player than Richards is.

And Hainsey is suppossed to develop into a top line d man in the future, or at least thats what I remember people telling me.

....But if we got Richards our team would improve in a big way, our team would have even more depth and we would be even closer to contending for the cup, THIS YEAR.

I dont know, im still undecided on this one.

Mr Gainey, I'll leave this decision up to you.

Hainsey is a bust and a 3rd is nearly worthless.

Basically it's Ryder for the reigning Conny Smith winner. I like Ryder but come on....

Hainsey is not a bust yet, he played great last year in the AHL when he was reunited with Komisarek. This year is his last year. The kid has talent and can bring it to the NHL but only if he puts his head to it.

There lies the problem. I just can't see Hollywood Ron doing well long term in the NHL.

Then again I havent seen him play a single time last year. ( bande d'épais à RDS....AHL/LHJMQ >>>>>> Caravane McDonald )

He was very average up until Komisarek came back from his injury. Komisarek gave him a good model to follow and it served him good. If you look at his last 2 seasons in the AHL they were pretty good in general. Maybe the kid will finally realise it's time to start playing on the ice rather than off the ice, he reminds me of the young chelios heh.

Oh that's the least of his issues...he also spent a few day arguing against FACTS that racing car drivers are athletes. Wouldn't surprise me if he said Saddam was the man behind 9/11 as well. :lol The guy's just a total idiot.

screw the Eklund haters.
Here's another rumour from him:

Vancouver: Luke Richardson, Marc Denis, Nikolai Antropov
Columbus: Dan Cloutier, Ed Jovanovski
Toronto: Matt Cooke, 2nd round pick from Columbus

Discuss it you noobs.

Edit: Cooke plays C, so I don't understand why Leafs would want him since they have more than enough C's. And why is this guy one of the favourites in Vancouver, so little goals for a C.

Replace Jovo with Richardson? Is this guy nuts, or just ignorant? Luke's best days were behind him when he was slumming in Edmonton, never mind his "outstanding" play in Philadelphia. Eklund is a doofus.

I don't hate Eklund, I just laugh at the baffoons who follow this guy's website and actually pay him money to come up with ridiculous rumours. Kudos to him to making money on a lie.

he doesn't come up with rumors.

rumors come from inside sources, ridiculous or not.

that's why there's a rating system e1-e5.

Yes, "inside sources" refer to "inside his head". E1 for a rumour he thought up while taking a dump, E2 for a rumour he thought up while surfing a website and so on.

^^^ :lol :lol :lol

That reminds me.....Anyone have those Belfour and Domi pics from a couple of years ago when they were hammered with some fans in a pub?

I really don't know much about Eklund...but I'll base my opinion on the answer to the following question:

When has Eklund been right?

Oh, and your frequent posting in this thread has automatically made you the hottest GAFette. :P

he's been right often.

But it's not him making up the rumors, it's gathered from several sources. He's not sitting there going "eh! this is a good idea!" He posts rumors from NHL players, agents (where most info comes from), managers, and other executive staff. People also don't realise one thing: The rumors are things that are currently in TALKS. Some of them might be finalised and some of them won't. Contract talks are highly unstable as it is. Someone can be saying for sure he'll sign one place then 5 minutes later another offer comes along and off he goes to some other club. Since people don't realise this they harp and they don't take rumors for what they are... rumors. They take it as truth then lash out when it's wrong.

What did you expect? =p

I realize that, which is why I was hoping for a more concrete answer. Sorry for not making myself clear.

I was hoping for an answer such as, he said that X player on team A would be traded for Y player on team B, Z days before it happened. :P Not exactly like that...but just mention the players involved at least.

Again, I do realize that a rumoured deal could have fell apart, which doesn't make the rumour incorrect, or made-up.

The reason why I wanted a specific answer was because I wonder if he was only right on some of the obvious trade rumours that pretty much every paper reports.

Eklund is a joke, end of discussion.

I'd have more success than him putting up a website and hosting rumors from most reliable sources.

hey. it's not my fault you guys don't understand.

And because of that you shouldn't be attacking me or eklund. It just makes you look even dumber in the end.

to say "oh vay that rumor is dumb! eklund is dumb!" it DID come from somewhere and it was not his head or his ass. Teams have done VERY STUPID trades before and they will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.

But then again this is GAF. There are people on here who post rumors that are 95% correct and get trashed. And then there are people who post rumors that are never correct and are adored.

So I'm not sure why i'm bothering to defend him because you guys are ass backwards.
