Anyone else watch any of the Rangers/Isles exhibition on the NHL Network tonight? I only watched maybe 15 minutes of the game, mostly in the late first and second periods, and man did the Rangers suck. The Isles don't look like a great team but the Rangers were just brutal, and I couldn't think of many guys they have that didn't dress.

Shootout coming up. I like John Davidson, but why is he such a retard on MSG and FSN New York telecasts? It's like he feels like he has to explain everything and he seems to want the other guys to only talk about what he wants to talk about. On HNIC Davidson is pretty good (not Kelly Hrudey good, but not bad at all as a colour guy).

Nylander up against the suddenly smaller Garth Snow.... nice backhand goal
Yashin against Lundqvist... terrible wrist shot by Yashin stopped
Straka on Snow.... goal
Satan has to score for the Isles.... haha flubs his shot, totally missed the net :lol

FSN NY had a kinda neat ice-level cam for the shootout.

EDIT: oh shit, they went straight from the S/O to a Classics game.... fucking Oilers against the Jets from the mid 80s. I'm going to guess this was one of the 240824 times the Jets lost in the first round. :P :P

(though I disagree with Turco being ranked so high, dallas is a defensively minded team)

The same applies to Kipper.

I'm not saying he's a bad goalie, he's perfect for the Flames (who don't let to many shots get at Kipper) because he has eyes in the back of his head and is able to pounce on the puck whenever it's around the net. But he has allowed so many clean shots in...it's almost a guarenteed goal if you can get a clean shot on him. I think he stepped up in the Playoffs though...making him Top 5 material, but I wouldn't put him over Belfour. No way, Jose.

With Belfour at 11 on that list...I'm not even gonna read it.

Oh and I do think that there will be a lot more clean shots on the goalie this year. I could be completely wrong though.

You guys realize that list is for *fantasy* goalies, right? Cloutier is ranked seventh in large part because he's on a good team and will get a lot of W's, same with Hasek. Neither would feature in many lists of 10 best goalies. :P

I didn't realize that until 30 seconds before you posted your post :P

Latendresse?

who the hell is he and where did he come from?

anywhoo, habs are looking good, and theodore and kovalev played today witch means their chances of playing for the game on thursday are even better.

2 fucking days. I cant wait.

A good prospect that should of been drafted in the first round but skating issues and an injury made him fall to the 2nd round. He worked very hard this summer on his skating with power skating lessons and now his skating isnt as bad as it used to be, it's actually decent now.

He dominated the rookie camp so they gave him a chance in the real camp and now in his first game, he got 2 goals and 1 assist (he should of been credited with 2) and was on the ice for 4 goals for his team.

He's forcing the hand of Gainey to stay in Montreal now, the kid is only 18 though so it's a risk. I'm not saying "Bergeron" quite yet but it looks a bit like it so far.

He's not just "looking good", he's looking like a veteran and dominating.

He'll play against the Leafs tomorrow, he's getting another shot and forcing Julien and Gainey's hands now.

Pfft. I remember another kick-ass rookie who lit up the league during the preseason only to do bugger-all. The irony being that he could probably match his brother's output now. Dammit.

And I remember an 18 year old guy named Bergeron last season who cracked the lineup and was a big part of the Bruins. It can go both ways, only the future will tell us.

We have way too many great prospect ready to make the jump. I hate to say it but Latendresse belongs in the LHJMQ for now.

What a great problem

Even Hossa is performing with Bonk now :|

Latendresse, Hossa, Perezhogin, Higgins and Plekanec are all doing well.

And tomorrow we get to see Kostitsyn...

I think Dagenais is about to hit the can ;)

Ah yes, first NHL game I've seen in a year and a half and the Wings deliver big time by thoroughly CRUSHING the Avs in every facet of the game....

....alright so they defeated a sakic, tanguay, and hejduk less Avs squad 3-2 in overtime but it was a thrashing nonetheless. :P

anywhere you can download them

well there's 1 @ NHL.com/TSN.ca

it's just a teaser though

they show clips of the rest in the making of also at NHL.com and TSN.ca

Yeah but Bish, Latendresse' idol is none other than ... Todd Bertuzzi. Latendresse is 6"2 and plays exactly like him. Anyway, I hope he develops like Todd, cause I think we need a guy like him. :P

The Oilers beat the Canucks, where the hell is dem?? You only get to celebrate something like this once a millenia, dude!

I'm not a habs fan... and thus understand its only preseason. :)

Drensch: Great! All we need to do for now is to get 20 peeps then we can start the fantasy draft, we're already 6 it's not too bad.

Btw I guess I'll drop the FHL league, even I offered to buy the simulator and we're only 6 so far so...

Too bad, you guys are missing on quite something.

Didn't you post a thread about doing that months ago, with considerably more interest? Why not break it out of this thread, which is the same 15-20 people, and gauge overall interest?

Ah, just did a search. It was more than the two or three months ago I thought it was. I guess I just have a good memory :)

In other news, got free tix to the Flames game Wednesday, and I saw some things in the new rules that I really liked.

First of all, it could have easily been 6-2 Flames if Khabibulin wasn't playing great and the Flames showed a touch more polish -- Calgary had at least a couple of breakaways, plus a two-on-goalie.

Anyhow, some thoughts:

1) Already, the Flames were taking some long pass attempts over two lines. I had previously thought about it as mostly something that wouldn't slow down breakouts from the defensive zone, but after watching this one game, I can see the impact it's going to have on the neutral zone.

2) Penalties: a fair number called, but it seemed to me like there was a lot less clutching and grabbing going on already. I still have deep fears that even if the tight calls continue through the entire regular season that they'll disappear in the playoffs. Playoff intensity makes playoff games exciting, but I'd rather watch intense, open hockey over intense piggyback ride hockey.

3) Icing: It seemed to me that there were some issues on the refs' end in effectively preventing a team that iced it from bringing new guys on. I dunno how well that rule's going to work.

4) The goalie equipment was good. I think it's going to create some goals that two years ago might have looked soft, but Khabibulin was still impressive and Kipper was pretty solid.

Also, Khabibulin was still doing plenty of wandering, just more of it in front of the red line.

I'm going to the game too. Wanna meet up after the game?

The lesson, as always - don't fuck with Ed Jovanovski.

Seriously though...Deadmarsh wasn't your prototypical power forward in size (more of a tweener IMO), he was gritty, could score, and had a knack for getting goals at crucial times. Concussions suck.

wow with all these concussions in recent years it makes me wonder how the hell Dino cicarelli (sp?) was in the league for so many years. The man took an unbelievable amount of punishment day in day out.

Habs won't win against the leafs tonight, they're going full on with prospects so no one will have to buy donuts.

Latendresse
Kostitsyn
Locke
Hossa
Chipchura
Hainsey
Streit

etc...

Are all playing tonight. No Theodore, no Koivu, no Kovalev, no Zednik, no Ryder still, no Bonk etc..

We're talking a team's core here for the Habs, not for the Leafs.

Koivu, Kovalev, Zednik and Ryder are 4 out of the Habs top six, and one spot is open in the top six. So they only had Ribeiro out of their two top lines, sorry.

And you've actually named Czerkawski, talk about owning yourself :lol
