1) Couldn't Snow "renegotiate" his player salary with... himself?

2) Wang is ****ing retarded. His accent is half asian (chinese/japanese?) and half bronx. Who the **** does this? ****ing god damn retarded.

3) With Peca signing in Toronto, someone post Edmonton's roster. This Snow GM stuff has been pretty funny, but I'd like a good chuckle.

I saw that Wang interview and realized the guy is totally fuggin clueless. I still can't believe Garth Snow is the GM. :lol

Edit: Good to see the spirit of Harold Ballard lives on in Wang.

im just a casual islanders fan and this really pissed me off. my brother is a die hard and was pretty optimistic about the future but i seriously feel bad for him right now.

Well this pretty much proves that all the business side changes the NHL has made over the past two years are going to be meaningless in the long-run. At least 3 major market teams are run by complete morons and the rest of the big market teams (with the exception of the Rangers?) made a bunch of side-ways do nothing off-season transactions that will leave them exactly where they were last year.

Anyway, nice trade for Nashville. Should add some scoring punch on the second or third line.

Their a completly different team. How they will play is anyone's guess. I've never seen a team change so drastically over the course of a couple of months..

Yea, unless we modify the bet for when neither team makes the playoffs they're both permabanned. I could get behind that.

edit:

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club acquired forward Dominic Moore from the New York Rangers for forward Adam Hall. The Predators then acquired a third-round choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Moore and forward Libor Pivko.

Man, Poile is on a tear this offseason, but this trade makes no sense to me. Unless next years draft is going to be huge in talent... we have 8 selections in it now.

it's funny, I get the feel from you're post that you think this is such "high end stakes!". The only thing on the line is a internet message board....not like I'm asking for one of his limbs!

I'm planning to go the banned for the playoffs route for a couple of wagers that I have planned, but for manics I was/am willing to put it all on the line.


I'm not toning this bet down for you manics, either accept or don't.

As much as I disagree with Mike Works on his Canuck-loving policy, I agree with him on his this-bet-hating policy.

Part of the value of this sort of bet is the ability to collectively mock and poke fun at the poor sap on the losing end when it's all done. A permaban does away with that highly entertaining opportunity.

Yeah, a much better bet would be a Leafs/Habs (whatever the hated team is) avatar or tag. A permaban is as Sickboy said--unsatisfying. they're just gone, no humor is gained.

Agreed, however, a permaban is only satisfying when the user being banned is appropriately equal in annoyance factor to the punishment.

So if the user is a forum brat, good riddance! Humor all around! Justice has been served!

Fine. Same bet as before, except the wager is banned for the entire playoffs, and not a permaban.

With a bet like this though, I expect more leaf fans then just manics to accept.

av betting is played out, doesn't appeal to me at all anymore. I won't go any lower than a playoff ban.

So far, the lack of testicular fortitude demonstrated by you leafers is shocking. I would expect this from Barrage or something, but not you guys.

AV betting is much more embrassing for the loser. GEtting banned will just mean one less NHL fan on the forum.

Pens sign another 2 old (young) Preds. Dominic Moore, who apparently filled a penalty killing role for the Rangers last season, and Libor Pivko, who had 70 points in 69 games playing in the AHL last season. Hrm, let's see what this team becomes. Really looking forward to the pre-season and the real season.

Don't do it leaf fans, Montreal is going to finish ahead of the Leafs by about a bajillion points this year...of course the Sabres will finish a few points ahead of them to win the division... :D

Moore should play well with Ruutu and Leclair... That means that Malone will probably make winger on one of the top 2 lines... We needed his PK as well. With Eaton, Moore and Malkin on the PK, the pens have seriously improved their worst weakness last year.


Also:

"PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired left wing Nils Ekman and goaltender prospect Patrick Ehelechner from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 2007 second round draft choice, it was announced today by General Manager Ray Shero. The second round draft choice was previously acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes on March 9, 2006 in exchange for Mark Recchi."

Ekman should fit in well on Malkin or Crosby's line this year. Good trade for a top 6 forward who is proven to both produce and be highly responsible defensively. He is the best +/- man in the league the past 2 years. I think the goalie was just a throw in.


So now our lines look like this:

Malone-Crosby-Armstrong
Ekman-Malkin-???? (maybe this Libor Pivko takes this spot, or M. Ouellette, or Jordan Staal :) )
Leclair-Moore-Ruutu
Stone (rookie)-Talbot-Roy

Melichar - Welch - (looked awesome last year in his callup)

I think Shero has done a great job improving the team speed, toughness and defense with his signings... Just adding Malkin to the team this next year is going to be huge!

Talbot BETTER be on the team as a fulltime player this season. We need guys like him out on the ice...someone who will work and skate hard every single shift. He was great on the PK. Ekman now too, eh? Lots of talent to go around. I'd still like to see some more of Ouellet and Christensen...Ouellet needs consistency though. I'd like Malone on the first line if he had some more speed. Who knows though? Maybe he can be a good poacher in front of goal.

Yeah, I don't see Staal on this team this year. Maybe in a couple of games just to see how he reacts, but the kid's only 17...way too young and not mature enough to play at the NHL level just yet. He'll need time to grow. Give him at least another year, ideally 2 or 3.

I didn't see your wager until now. Your initial response was it was "too early" to start making hockey bets so I figured you were too scared to get in.

Leafs finish higher then the Habs, you are permabanned.
Habs finish higher then the Leafs, I'm permabanned.


I just recently put my account on the line for Italy who hadn't won a World Cup in 24 years..you think this bet scares me? :lol

This bet is the equivalent of the Stars come playoff time, which is equivalent to hiring your backup goalie as GM.
