Classic NHL Draft Moments, with fallout

At the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Roberto Luongo was drafted in the first round, fourth overall, by the New York Islanders. The pick originally belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs but was later traded to the Islanders in exchange for Wendel Clark, Mathieu Schneider and D. J. Smith. At the time of the draft, Luongo was the highest picked goaltender in NHL history.

I think my favorite part about tonight was the Preds pick's highlight reel on TSN... 3 different angles of him taking a slapshot on a shootout attempt. that's it. uwe boll probably directed that shit.

oh and the most embarrassing song on his iPod is “Incomplete” by Backstreet Boys and his dream car is a “black Cadillac Escalade with big rims”.

Preds are going to be the first team to send out five d-men on the ice. Hell, six d-men. Who needs a goalie when you have Shea Weber?

Sure they could draft forwards but that can also be gotten through free agency. I like the pick.

IMO, my personal highlight of the entire draft. :lol

Honorable mention goes to Pronger stomping on Crosby's calf.

Im so glad Burke was mic'd up. He didnt even listen to what Murray had to say :lol

I would've been happy with any of Kadri, MPS, or Cowen, so I think a pretty good draft. Ottawa's defence now has the potential to be back to what it used to be. Clearly lacking in the forward department though I think.

It is just getting started, he is only been on the job for a couple of months in like a year when the media start questioning his moves that is when it is going to get epic. I can't wait for Simmons, Cox, Strachan and Berger Vs. Burke.

Well.... I'm not totally happy with the Pens taking another Defensemen in the first round.... With the luxary of centers we have, we need something more then pylons to support them.

I don't think we have drafted a winger in a long ass time (maybe since Colby Armstrong in 2001)

Although having a glut of defensemen isn't bad for a team that likes to play firewagon hockey though....


Pens fans, be prepared for rent-an-average/under-average/over-the-hill winger for lots of years... that is simply the reality of having the star centers we have...

I'm just still happy as hell we were getting congratulated for winning the cup. And to Garth Snow for snubbing us with congratulations, I hope we torch the Islanders next year :D

I agree, love Ottawa's pick, him and Karlsson could be the new Redden/Chara in a couple of years, except not under the softest coach ever, but he's the Habs problem now lol.

But we are running out of forwards.

and lol at Burke and Murray quick talk about Kadri.
