Omark is meh.
He's Robbie Schemp 2.0: fancy shootout moves that impress Youtubers, but with major holes in his game.
Plus, he's small and the Oilers are too small as it is.
The Oiler still own his rights so no biggie (for now).

As for the Oilers not being able to develop prospects: yes and no. The Oilers haven't had many high draft picks ever (that's what happens when you finish 8th-10th every year) so it's not like they had a lot of high end raw talent to work with. Their drafting really sucked in the 90s and early 2000s too.

Still, some of their recent high picks (e.g. Gagner, Cogliano, and even Hemsky) have fared pretty well in the NHL. Gagner and Cogliano both suffered sophomore slumps last year, but they'll be okay.

Most of the Oilers prospects were developed patiently in the minors (e.g. Horcoff, Pisani, Stoll, Greene, etc.), but people tend to not notice pluggers like them.
