Yesterday i got to the 4th disc (55 hours counting). i´ve got some questions:

1) Probably already answered, sorry. You can´t go back to numara, crimson forest or the atoll? and Whol highlands, begining of the game ? they are the only red/disabled location in the world map.

2) How do you get to Khent? is it possible at all? theres a miniquest with someone asking you to give his brother a letter.

3) In the 3rd disc ending boss battle
is it possible to cancel its counter-spell barrier? i tried dispel but didnt work and had to beat it with melee atacks using Mack and the rest protecting and healing

No need to go into any detail, since everyone else shares the exact same opinion.

Oh wait, "shares the exact same opinion" means "has a markedly different view of the Mistwalker game Lost Odyssey" right?

1) The reason you are cut off is because your ship is on the perimeter ocean and those areas are blocked from it by Hypercurrents.

2)
It's gone. Blame Gongora for you not being able to complete your task

3) Nah, that does seems like a bit of an oversight, Reflect reflecting Dispel.

I'm only on disc 1 but i'm really surprised by how good the english voices are, probably one of the best casting iv'e heard (so far anyway). Expected seth to be a little more ''grown'' in her tone but I like her voice still. Plus Jansen is a lot better than I expected.

1) and is it availabe later on?

3) so its not possible to use magic against it or cancel it in any other way?

I'm still waiting for my copy, I ordered the asian version far better than the UK/US versions. Anyone got any tips before I start?

- Read every dream. Its worth it.
- Remember how the elements work (fire vs wind vs ground vs water vs fire)
- Remember you can change rings & equipment & flee every turn
- Use the recover GC, HP,MP skills for Kaim and Seth.
- take your time to explore so you dont reach bosses underleveled.

Care to elaborate?

And like the post above, Brawl ate up a good chunk of my time that I had set aside for LO. Now that I've completed SSE, I'll be getting back to finishing up Kaim and the bunch.

I got to the first boss expecting to be pummeled and it wasn't too bad at all, was surprised when I won. I don't get some of the complaints about the dreams. Personally I like that you have to read them, kind of like a book, this game reminds me a little of folklore for some reason too.

Im at disc 3 right now. This game has really blown me away. I wasn't expecting it to be so good. I love the dream stories, really well written. Jansen's voice actor is awesome.

Yea the game is flat out unbelievable. If there is any title that deserves to move a million units, it is this game.

I just found the
Grand Staff at the Sea of Baus on Disc 4 using the White Boa.
How near the end am I?

Great game. I'll probably post final thoughts when I'm done.

hey one question:

*endgame sidequest spoliers*

The initial pirate dude (Gar, i think) that you meet at the Pirate Fortress... he gives you hints as to what treasures youve missed... are these exclusively the 'treasure hunt' treasures or can he give you sweet tips if youve missed any treasure boxes for the 'Treasure Trove' achievement? Ive got my fingers crossed for the latter... can anyone confirm this?

Then you must have only played a couple total.
Eh I think I have and since I like to list things.........

JRPGS I have played and liked:
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Digital Devil Saga 1
Digital Devil Saga 2
Tales of the Abyss
Blue Dragon
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Xenogears
Vagrant Story
Chrono Cross
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Persona 3
Devil Summoner PS2
Parasite Eve
.........and more

JRPGS I've played and disliked:
Dragon Quest VIII
Tales of Legendia
Tales of Syphonia
Eternal Sonata
Enchanted Arms
Xenosaga 1
Xenosaga 2
Xenosaga 3
Front Mission 4
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy X-2
Lunar Silver Story
NIS Titles
The Sukidoken games

And while what I said was probably just said out of current frustration, the game does have some problems, that I personally have with it.

Yeah I was frustrated playing the game last night. Mostly because I really wanted to stop playing but I couldn't find a save. For some reason I could not get back to the most recent save . Yes its easy to get back to where you are in this game if you die but I still didn't wana lose my progress. I had already been killed by the experiment monsters in Grand Staff(disc 4) and had the game freeze on me 3 times there. But after spending around an hour looking for a save point I just decided to go after the boss. Which was surprisingly easy. Also in a tense and strategic battle, I was able to beat one of the experimental monsters.

Really now that I'm done with that part I'm back to enjoying the game but last night I was relly getting pissed off. And trust me when it comes to games, I really don't get angry with them.

As far as the little problems with the game. Well I really wish it was more like FFX. I'll be sure say more when I'm done with the game.

It sounds more like a problem with your 360, which is perfectly valid to be pissed at.

I just bought this game. I found a "drop off the lost item" place. Should I give the guy anything or is it better to keep anything I find? I think the Engraved Ring I found is described as a lost item.

I remember giving off mine and regretting it. :p

I beat the first boss my first try at lvl 13. Maybe it was because I had heard about it being hard so I wasn't afraid to use items and fire.

It´s you. Double cast + reduce casting time 1 and 2 + divide = damage through the roof.

The problem is that I was trying to double cast the All Elemental spells. Although there is one enemy in the Temple of Enlightenment that would negate Double Cast or something. I'd try to hit him with two Windus but only one is cast.

If you destroy the enemy that the double cast was cast on it doesn't automatically go to the next guy like single casts do. ALSO, if you're fighting those hovering pink fire globe gobblin things, when they use High Explosion Poison they actually detonate/kill themselves in the process, so your first cast would move on to the next target, but it wouldn't double-cast.

...and for the record double casting
Leveler
with mindus enabled takes like 10k hp each cast. Ming, Sarah, and Jansen double-casting it kills pretty much anything in one turn... If only Jansen could get Reduce Casting Time 2.

Any pointers for the final boss? Everyone is around lvl 48, but I have trouble once the battle
switches to Gongora.

you have to wait for the mortals to support you before you're actually taking damage off. After they've all supported you, there's a cutscene where all the mortals get preoccupied with another task, at which point it's time to unleash your fury -- hit him with your strongest attacks.
Until that point, just keep your squad healed and All-Barricadused... you'll have to re-apply powerus/mindus after that, so there's no point wasting mana on those casts before that point either.

Also, I don't know where I got it, but there's an amulet or something that protects you from all aliments and it made the last fights SOOO damn easy -- no poison, no stone, no nothing (and when you're immune to those things, you'll notice just how many times they're cast against you).

It's in the cave where you can't use items. I think it's called the Hidden cave or something. I've played too many jrpgs recently, can't remember.

Oh and it requires special accessory to equip, which you learn from Sed.

As far as I know, he only gives hints to treasure hunt treasures.

Forgotten Cave ? You get treasure clue at beginning of cave for it. If that's one you guys are talking about. Cave worm area.

LO sold 203K last month in the US. Seems like pretty good numbers. Good enough for a sequel?

An additional 100K+ in Japan + PAL I'd say something else from MW/Feel+. Sequel or not.

Concidering LO also hit the charts in several European countries I'd say definitely. I really hope so at least.

well it only released last month, we'll probably see it sell a lot more due to word of mouth.

I dont care that much wether we see a sequel to LO or not. I just want more Mistwalker games :D Cry On is in development, hopefully that delivers too

The problem with Mistwalker is that they are not a real development studio themselfs and they are constantly outsourcing their products to different developers. Cry On is supossedly being developed by Cavia and they don't exactly have a great trackrecord. Feel plus on the other hand is a fantastic studio that have proven themselfs multiple times (Shadow Hearts + Lost Odyssey). I really want to see Mistwalker collaberating with Feel Plus more often.

They could potentially turn Lost Odyssey into a Final Fantasy type brand. Not in sales, but in the sense that each game can take place in a radically different setting with mostly different characters, but keep Kaim as a recurring protagonist (kinda like Sid from FF but in a more prominent role). Each game can take place in a different era, since he is immortal after all. He could just conveniently lose his memory between each game, and be a blank slate character. Heck, they could even make the next game a prequel or something, he's got 1000 years of back story they can fill, with at least 1 episode of memory loss.

Right fair enough I will have to keep those in mind, but there pretty obvious to know since its turn based. I do need to remember is the mortal/immortal stuff with the characters and how you need to postion them all to be effective, shouldn't be too difficult seeing how you can 5 charcters in battle at the same time.

Well I think I got a glitch or something. The treasure item in Forgotten Cave is not appearing in my inventory. I got the item and my log book says complete. I checked everyones equip and no one has it. Has this happened to anyone else? This sucks! Item is called Angel Guard. I don't know what's going on!

This item needs the skill "Special Accessory" for it to be worn. Therefore only people with this skill can equip it.

Oh wow I'm an idiot. Have the ability just forget about it. :D Thanks a lot.

Yeah, Angel Guard... once all your immortals learn it, you're pretty much godly. There's also an amulet that nullifies all elemental damage; the combo of no elemental damage and no ailments makes you untouchable from 90% of attacks (physical attacks are rare later in the game and don't cause enough damage to kill you). With those two items equipped, just have one of your casters send out an All-Generata and you can fight all day without dying.
