Kobe's trade rumors are going to dominate the news/highlights if the lakers are scheduled that night, until he gets traded.

Kobe is pretty big news for the NBA... if he goes to the right team in the east that will really start to balance out the league... the first game of 82 and they are talking about oen of the biggest NBA stories of the last few years.. oh NOES...
 
I like the blazers and all, but I hope that san antonio is undefeated until november 7th, when they play the heat. i need the spurs to be as soft as possible at that point...because i am going to that game and do not want to witness a complete raping.

But they weren't even talking about him! It was just a 30 second shot of him walking. Could have used that to talk about the game instead, no?

:lol I remember the 03 Finals on ABC...Instead of doing a story on the Spurs or the Nets, they had a halftime story on Kobe and his dad -_-

Kobe would have to go to like 3 Eastern teams simultaneously to balance out the league.

Yeah its funny how they talk about how the Spurs players/organization are the types of things that we should be talking about as fans and commentators of the NBA (team concept, unselfish, win-win-win etc), and then they go right back to a whole segment of talking about Kobe trade nonsense. There haven't even been any real developments, but they're still content to just recylce the same old shit we've been hearing all summer.

EXACTLY! I actually thought about this the other night when the Red Sox were a few outs away from closing out the World Series, and they cut in to announce that A-Rod was opting out!! It just goes to show that media darlings will always trump team success stories..

If you say so. I see the east has gotten a lot better. You can't just laugh at them. Like or not the Celtics are dangerous. They were no where on the map last year and now they are in the middle. The Raps are hot, the Pisitions still have legs...If Kobe went to the right team and made them a deep playoff team the gap between the east and west would be much smaller.. it is much smaller than it was last year as it is

Basketball is very much a game of personae. The Spurs have no personae, they just have great players. That's why people like Kobe will always get first billing in the sports media over them (the Blazers too I guess until Oden is playing). Sports are entertainment first and the huddled masses watch the game for people like Kobe, not Tim Duncan, as unfair as that might seem to the rest of us.

You have no idea. He averaged 17ppt and 5rpg. Amazing stuff. He shot like 60% from the field.

I just remember when the Rockets destroyed Portland @ the Rose Garden around springtime last year... that he was playing kind of garbage. And then I see this...

His biggest problem has been inconsistency and confidence. He changed his attitude around completely, and has become extremely coachable. He's an entirely different player from last year. I am hoping he continues on this path.

Also shot selection (maybe do to his confidence) was another problem.... Has a great basketball body, hopefully he will start playing better D as well...

Same thing with Bonzi for me. He's produced like mad during the preseason.

I think the Franchise will be the Bonzi of the Rockets '06-07 season.

Yep. Last year with Zach holding the ball for as long as he did, his only option was to float around the corner somewhere and then be thrown a crappy passes with no time left to make a 3. With this new team, it's more free-flowing, he is part of the offense, and he gets room to breath and play his natural strengths - mid to long range jumpers and rebounding.

EDIT: There it is again. Wide open 3 cause the team is spread out.
