This is good, let's air all of our bullshit now so that come league time we're all over it and ready to play. If we're going to start down this road now we might as well end it now too.
Let me say that I think you are normally a very good player, and that you are a cool guy as well, but like Rors said we should stop ignoring the elephant in the room. You have done some things in games with me (and others) in the past that I think take advantage of the games AI in order to give yourself an edge.
And I'll tell you what, if five people say they have problems with the way I play DE, then I will stop. At least I won't have Strahan anymore, so even if I do control the DE I probably won't be as effective.
I don't even know what takes "advantage of the games AI in order to give yourself an edge" means. Like everyone here, I try and get the ball to my Playmakers as much as I can. I *think* that the main critique comes from moving T.O. into the slot occasionally and getting matchups on backup corners and such. This is something I've done since the PS2 days where package changes were implemented. I can't help the fact EA still hasn't implemented defensive match-ups, but I can't unlearn years of mixing up my offensive looks....
To the d-line issue, here is my point. I can make an argument that you with a 90+ d-lineman vs a CPU controlled offensive lineman is " taking advantage of the games AI". Madden 08 had some of the worst and inconsistent line play in years and, in turn, a veteran Madden player that exclusively plays d-line can have a field day disrupting running and passing plays. You can attribute your success exclusively to your skill level, and that is fine, but there is a counter perspective that has been expressed (not only by me) that the line play was all kinds of unbalanced in the defenses' favor. You see, it works both ways, and I feel you are being somewhat of a hypocrite when I feel you are guilty of the offense you are leveling at me. As easily as I could have stopped occasionally moving around my receivers, you could have yielded from hanging out on the line
exclusively. Yet I understand you've always done it, so again, "I deal with it".
My main problem is the fact you've lumped me in with Vumpler as someone "no one wants to play" yet you proclaim I'm "normally a very good player". I'm hoping you were just being inflammatory last night and the latter sentiment is the real opinion you have of me. Unless people are being really two-faced, I get along with most folks here and I have no problem playing exhibition games vs regulars throughout the season. I implore anyone that has a problem with me and my game to step up and talk to me man to man. My AIM is "ProfessaSkillset" and I'm always available. If Wellington's assertion is true that no one likes to play me because the perception is real that I'm a chronic exploiter, I'll bow out gracefully unlike another guy I know...
