Well, I've got Madden 2008 for 360, who wants to throw down?
A week or so before release usually. There will be a thread for the 360 one and the PS3 one. All you need to do is post in that thread. Don't know how many we have right now, but veterans take priority, then the new players. Nothing against the new guys, but the vets already know about the rules and the investment in time.Jtrizzy said:

To "play fair" means no glitching, cheating, cheesing, milking, running up the score, etc. And playing on time means meeting the deadline. The "weeks" in the past Madden leagues have been about 4 days each or earlier if everyone finishes early.
There are other rules relating specifically to the gameplay, but those are usually assigned after we get our hands on the game and see if they are still applicable or if new ones have been found. Some of the past rules have included:
-No manual blitzing with the secondary or LBs: you are allowed to send ai at the quarterback and you can take control of players after they have penetrated the line. You can also rush the QB with any player once he has left the pocket. Blitzing with DL is fair game at any time.
-No spreading of the defensive line: the spreading rule has come and gone and come again over the years. This one may or may not be a problem this upcoming season. The problem was that the AI would not properly adjust to the DEs when people spread the defensive line. Shifting left, right, or pinching was ok. Manually moving the defensive line was banned.
-No pinching 3 man lines: this one came about mid-season last year when it was discovered that this would cause a glitch where the DE would just slip passed the line automatically resulting in an automatic sack (often even before the QB could hand off to the HB). This one and the above rule may not be a problem in the upcoming season because the return of offensive line adjustments
-No manual WR catches: you couldn't manually control the wide receiver while the ball was in the air and make the catch yourself. This was due to the fact that the defensive AI was bullocks when it came to defending manual WRs. You are allowed to switch to the WR to prevent an interception, but not to catch the ball. This one has been debated, but I feel it's been the right choice in the past.
-No milking of the clock any time before the fourth quarter: self explanatory. This prevents those super slow games where people just stay behind center 'till the last second. The rule last season was that you should have a play picked on offense by around the 20 second mark.
I like those rules. I can definitely understand why you don't allow the player to control the blitzing linebacker from the get go. What about quarter length? I am kind of surprised you can't run clock inside the two minute warning of the first half though.
The one rule I really like is not allowing the manual receiver catches. That shit has been glitchy for years. I also like the no sprint to the sideline with mobile QB rule. People used to cheat with Vick so bad. Run to the sideline and throw an 80 yard bomb.

It's a concession that takes away from realism for the benefit of user enjoyment. To be frank, most of bickering and drama in this league is because of those type of concessions. Take it or leave it, I guess.
If the other guy is out of timeouts and you just want to milk the final seconds, I think that's ok. That's the only reason I would see to milk it in the first half. If you wanted to engineer a drive that would take away the time that the other team would need to score, that's entirely possible without milking it down to the 0 mark. You would probably run out of time if you did so anyway unless you threw nothing but deep bombs.

Rors and I played a decent game last night. The first quarter was rough as it looked like both of us were rusty, after that it was gravy.
The improvements to the Giants were noticeable, Plax was catching anything that came near him and his speed was better than I remember. Chris Snee being a run blocking specialist is fucking awesome, it helped out big time on short yardage (and he matched up against Sapp).
I just want to say that Rors' Justin Fargas/Darren "McDaddy" McFadden combo will be fucking lethal next year. My bread and butter is eating up the run and it seemed like Fargas would always break the tackle or slip through a crease... it was insanity.

If you get a chance can you go back through and name time markers and which player? I watched it for about 15 minutes watching almost every player and only saw two problem. Both were from the LB position and it was the same thing both times, the LB getting caught up in the line. I don't know why in the hell he's trying to run around so close to there anyway :lolLJ11 said:
I thought all angles were taken as good as possible. The offensive line looks AWESOME compared to last year. I thought chris collinsworth had a more intricate roll in the announcing. I didn't hear him once in the whole video....
Edit: Also someone said on the comments that this is rookie mode because of the "Sprint" under the players. So even for rookie I thought the defense made great moves other than the fact that the guy at the sticks kept blitzing everyone manually when that wasn't their route.
The main problem, is that the Will is being controlled by a non-cpu player. He totally takes the WLB out of position so you have no back side containment. And the Mike just gets lost in the middle, he goes straight to the FB (around 2:01). Terrible might have been harsh, I just think the game was being played on an easy difficulty.
Note: FMT will NOT be running the NCAA 360 league. Hence a vet or an assemblance of vet's need to create the league.

Man I promised myself I wouldn't play Madden this year after my dismal next gen experiences. But I am so AMPED for this game right now. I don't know what comes over me. Seriously. Look at my record..... My biggest claim to fame is that I'm better than Bog. :lol

Not an excuse, but I've realized that my DLP suffers from a bit of button lag even with the tv set to the "gaming" setting (which is supposed to fix the issue). I didn't realize how prominent it was until I played Rock Band at a friends house. I've come to realize that this lag has a serious effect on online gaming because I deal with two lag sources. And both can be fairly unpredictable.
Now I'm not blaming my poor madden record on my tv. But last gen I was an average player. I even had a playoff win one year and a record over .500. I really really wish I could afford to get a new LCD before Madden. Then I would know if it's just my old brain not keeping up.
Man I hope Matt Ryan comes out flying and he gets a rating bump in an update.
