WHO DEY!?
Let's get it started now. We can speculate. It starts at 1PM EST/10AMPST.

Rumored possibilities:

Video iPod
Updated Powerbooks
Updated PowerMacs
Larger iPods in 2 colors
Early realease announcement of Intel Macs

ADDED:

Possible pink Madonna themed iPod

Updated Airport Express that streams video as well as audio is one of the rumours as well.

I think video will play a part of it (hence the red movie curtains). Updated iTunes and Music Store with music videos, short films and TV programmes (possibly involving the BBC in the UK). New Airport Express to stream content to your TV. And maybe a video iPod to go with it.

Updated PowerMacs and PowerBooks seem very likely as well from the comments in Apple's conference call.

Some semi related news:

Apple posts $430M profit on strong iPod, Mac growth ...

Apple today reported the highest revenue and earnings in the company's history, posting a $430 million quaterly profit ($0.50 per diluted share) on increased revenues of $3.68 billion--a more than 50 percent increase from the year-ago revenues ($2.35 billion) and 400 percent increase over the year-ago quarterly profits of $106 million ($0.13 per diluted share). Apple shipped 1,236,000 Mac units and 6,451,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 48 percent growth in Macs and 220 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter. "We're thrilled to have concluded the best year in Apple's history, with 68 percent year-over-year revenue growth and 384 percent net profit growth," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "This is the direct result of our focus on innovation and the immense talent and creativity at Apple. We could not be more excited about the new products we're working on for 2006."

I hope they don't use this to show off the pink nano. U2 didn't get a special event, I doubt Madonna will ;P I'm hoping slimmer, longer battery life, bigger iPods and/or intel powerbooks will be out sooner. Intel just announced its new chip today.

Recent notes suggest otherwise, however, and tomorrow may in fact see the release of a video iPod, while Mac updates may not be delivered until next week.

Fuck no. Fuck, fuck, fuck! I've been holding out to buy a G5 because of this event tomorrow, and I'll be super pissed if I have to wait another week to buy one. Hopefully TS was wrong, and they'll make all announcements on the same goddamned day!

I expect a:

21' PowerBook
100GB HDD Video iPod
20/40GB HDD iPod (shrinked, with updated interface)
Madge iPod (Pink and White)

Reason for these guesses....

...I had a dream last night and the first 3 things were shown. The madgePod colours are just my own personal non subconsciously induced guess.

I have all the faith in the world for Apple, but... I have a feeling they aren't going to do the video iPod right. But... if the PSP can sport amazing quality video, then I think Apple might has a chance to pull it off.

If it only plays music videos, however... no.

I was doubting the idea of a video iPod being what would be announced today, but I find it very odd that the iTunes Music front page has not been updated for this weeks new releases. You can all of the released by searching for the artist, or by actually looking at the week by week listing, but the little snap shot thing on the front page has not been updated since last week.

Also, the Music Store exsclusives have had no new items added to it since last week.

I think tomorrow, video iPod with some of those exsclusives being video content. Hence the lack of update. It's got to be big, or else why delay the update of that important of a page?

It's their failed PDA.

Eh, less "failed," more "about 3-5 years too early." I don't think ANYONE was ready for that kind of device. The technology just didn't allow it to be as small as it should've been. I'm all for a comeback, though.

Buried by Jobs, the "not invented by me" syndrome :(

But it is awesome, a guy here at work showed me his late model and the InkText thing is just zomg zomg zomg, very much ahead of anything else I've seen :O

awesome video ipod is back in play...

typing on my 17" Powerbook

what is this dream about a 21" PB *faints*

A 21" PowerBook would be overkill. A Mac mini + 20" Cinema Display would be a better investment.

They scratch because, IMO, people don't take care of them. You should expect your iPod to scratch if you carrying it arround with reckless abandon. I don't take my outside unless its in it's armband, and that's only for running. I'm waiting for the Nano carrying cases and such to come out, and once they do, the bitching will cease.

It's a portable device. Because of that very fact it should be designed to be durable. It's not sitting on a display shelf, it's getting banged around in the real, mean world. While the scratching doesn't impact the functionality of the device, it'd of been nice if it didn't occur in the first place. See the GBA SP for my idea of a well-designed portable gadget.
