I think HOME and Little Big Planet are what will finally persuade me to become a three next-gen console owner.
Yes, i'am feeling the same.
Was not sure till today but sony really convinced me with this annoucement.

everyone raving about Home, out of interest, have you heard of second life? it's essentially the same thing except it isn't integrated into the sony network. it's also free to explore (you have to pay if you want your own land though). you could do a lot worse than check it out while waiting for the beta of home.

Just saw the gameplay trailer for LittleBigPlanet. WOW! This game is going to be huge.

Huge as in huge sales? I think not. And that's a real shame. Games like this deserve it.

11:32 a.m.: They climb a room on glowing stars. The lights reflect accurately off the walls and the characters. While three of them continue their ascent, one sticks around to throw some stickers.

"Even while you're playing the level, you can bring up the tools to start changing and creating the content experience."

Home reminds me of Microsoft Bob, or one of those IM clients where you're in a big room with avatars talking. In short, it looks like the most cumbersome UI you could put on top of something ever.

That said, LBP looks cool. Really cool.

It means your gonna be paying lots of dough if you want more then the basic home stuff. They hinted it like crazy with all the talk of getting stuff from the sony store.

Home has lots of potential for sure with whats potentially available but to fully embrace it the free line is a bit misleading

Again the 2nd part of your post doesn't come across clear. Are you saying folks won't be able to enjoy the free aspect of HOME all by itself? I highly disagree.

No one will doubt that there will be pay content to add to HOME, that's obvious, but you make it sound like you're apparently will have 1 chair, and 1 couch and if you want anything else you'll have to pay.

THAT is misleading.

So what are the odds that it will be easier to meet sme cute girls on Home that it is on XBox Live?

m

Probably more so, but you'll have to settle for chubby and/or plain looking RPG fangirls. =P

Around the web there's a lot of people complaining about Sony, like usual, copying and other shit but I find it funny not one of these haters mentions the fact Sony did the same concept taken from MMOs better than Nintendo.

HOLY SHIT.

That's it. I'm impressed. Finally. I was waiting for this moment. The Home potential is out of this world. Sims / Achievements / Mii / My Space and You Tube = pwned.

Little Big Planet is also extremely charming -- COOP PLATFORMERS -- my dream.

I'm pwned. I didn't think it would blow me away like that. I did shout in the office and and now the shit is spread around here lol. Basically everybody drooling.

WOW. Finally, Sony delivers. Now make that Home a freaking standard and make sure that ALL games comply. tks.

14:35.10 -

It doesn't end there. Users can share their content with other PS3 Home users.

14:34.35 -

They've just done the grand finale - the four characters zooming down a hill on a giant skateboard. Huge round of applause. Crowd still going absolutely bonkers.

14:33.59 -

The crowd are going absolutely bananas.

14:33.42 -

Harrison's having a go now, and now Mark's going to show us what you can do with one of the game's giant oranges.

14:33.16 -

They've make their own physics-based platform game in LittleBigPlanet, and users will be able to do the same.

Geez, Why can't you trolls just let us enjoy this. I don't care if this is taking from different ideas. I like HOME, I think this is amazing and if it stays as it is shown I will be very happy.

Can't you at least hold off your negative, sarcastic, trolly comment until tomorrow?

I have as much right to a negative comment and to voice it as you do to have a positive view. I do not automatically become a troll just because I have a different opinion and wish to discuss it, rather than abstaining so certain posters can enjoy a 24 hour circle jerk.

Indeed. This needs to be a standard feature for every 3rd party game.

11:34 a.m.: A video starts illustrating the concepts of creating and sharing in LittleBigWorld. The mucis and design are infectious; the world is full of possibilities. It's like a next-gen, playful version of ExciteBike but with ragdolls and the internet.

They show comments, friends lists, and a "highest rated" chart. Think YouTube or MySpace, but with LittleBigPlanet levels.

Yes, bits and pieces of everything that has been done by someone else truly desrves to be called next-gen.

Don't get me wrong, it's pretty cool but it has been done (if not exactly in the same way) and you guys are going apeshit over it.

You're missing the point here... They took key elements from stuff that works really well from packages that had good and bad, and put all the "good" together in a package which they refined... This is something nobody has done... Why hasn't Ninty or MS done this, guess they figure what they gave is good enough... not anymore...

See, companies, especially MS loves to talk about community, and thats what this is and does... This just (for those who like the XBL community stuff for example) to a whole new level of interaction... And Sony didn't just do just enough, they went way past expectations with it...

Sony got tired of being told to pick up the slack, and they finally do, and people still hound them... it's really ****ing sad... I'm not going to let my life revolved around this or anything, but it really is a cool concept... Sony's been talking about this stuff forever, since the whole jack into the matrix stuff with the PS2... Well, it seems now they have the hardware and (More importantly) the software to do such a thing...

If MS or especially Ninty did anything "remotely" close to this, those said fans would be pronouncing the death of Sony, celebrating rubbing their oiled down cocks together...

Sony is setting a new bar for online community, and this is something that should be appreciated, cause now MS has to do something to counter this, which in turn will make a better experience for the consumer...

Hmm, I guess Luke and Shane were quite disappointed by the Killzone demo. :(

Btw...

Oh God. Sony can't spell practice. It's wrong on the SingStar presentation.

Please tell me they were joking. :lol

This was the cool shit they were talking about on 1up Yours, this is the megaton, NOW STOP BITCHING ABOUT GARNETT AND FOCUS.

Having to pay for anything beyond the basic accoutrements was rather obvious I thought. Still nice.

11:37 a.m.: Media Molecule leaves the stage to enthusiastic applause. The game will be available in demo form on PS Network this year, and on Blu-ray disc in '08.

"So let's go back to our final slide here. You've seen today the industry is on the threshold of a new era of creativity, collaboration, commuinity, commerce... We think this represents tremendous opportunities for the game developers and the gamers... I'ts going to be a very exciting journey ahead of you and ahead of us."

Phil leaves on a high note. The audience claps, the music comes back up, and we're out of here!

If the price is reasonable in 08, I might buy a PS3 just for the game.....awesome.

Why are you guys getting so excited over HOME? It in no way justifys paying $600 dollars for the console. Now Little Big Planet on the other had, does, cause its a game.

Therefore we need more games. Sony where the hell are the games that I want to play this year, where are the games that will make me want a PS3?

look forward to seeing the demo of LBP when it comes. Sounds like its got tons of potential. So far off til retail though :(

These presentations never give enough.. Home looks like an awesome community product, LBP looks potentially to be a fun game... but nothing else? That's it? No additional PS3 Updates info, no confirmation of the next big update, no other big game demos... nothing?

it's called Second Life. it's been on the PC for years. it bored me then and i doubt now that it looks prettier that it won't bore me now.

is it a good idea? yes. have they done it well? yes.

but it's been done before.

Heh, not only is Home a responce to XBL, it also seems like one big counterpoint to every big idea Nintendo's dished out lately all rolled into one app.

Personal avatars= Miis
Home creation & decorating= Animal Crossing
Arcade games= Virtual console
Bowling/ traditional games= Wii Sports
Proposed ability to own a pet= Nintendogs

Who wants to bet they'll have some sort of quiz application, not unlike Brain Age?

Home is a 3D GUI, while it is certainly a good feature with its uploads.

All it really is, is a GUI that is designed to make the abilitiy to launch into activities more interective.

Personally having played second life and looking at it from a functionality stand point, I do not see it as a major feature, just a quircky little application launcher.

Some people...
The games will be shown at consumer shows, GDC is for services and development tools/insights. Basically wait for blowouts in mags and trade shows, like this months EGM/GI.
