Because the CPU spec is 1-333MHz and we are already told by some devs that regular games will use that clock setting in the future. I've been running those emulators for hours on 333MHz setting and I can't see anything getting warmer than before. How do you know it was meant to be running at 333? 333 will generate more heat and maybe some of the components are not made for that.
Good idea. I think it would work. Here's another idea that works. Every time you put a new app, you first make a copy of everything to your PC, then delete everything from PSP, then move all the regular named folders over from PC to PSP, and only then move all the % named folders over. That way, the files in % named folders will all appear at the top of the list on PSP, and corrupted data icons will all be pushed to bottom of the list.I've been wondering about the second file, the Data.psp executable that gets renamed to EBOOT.PBP, that if you look at it just appears as Corrupted data. Has anyone tried repacking this with just the icon PNG to see if it still works as part of the two step boot process, while showing an icon instead of corrupted data from the XMB interface?
I prefer the GENerator (0.12). great auto frameskip and runs very stablejenov4 said:Hey I just noticed this thread is a sticky now. Wh00t.
And I find PSPGenesis, although nice, is quite buggy especially when it comes to power down and sleep mode.
because if it is indeed a 333Mhz processor, it has to be QC'ed for at least 333Mhz.. this is typical on all processors and memory. if there are problems in yields during fab, just send out the part at a lower designated clock speed. but for the chip to go out at 333Mhz, yes, it HAS to run at 333Mhz.quetz67 said:How do you know it was meant to be running at 333? 333 will generate more heat and maybe some of the components are not made for that.
Create ROMS folder inside the MAME folder on the memory stick, and put roms in it (just like on other versions of MAME)Does anybody knows if the roms have to be in an specific folder or if there are roms specially made for PSP ?
I dont think the cpu will be damaged, but maybe other components. I once had a notebook that fried the disk drive when I set the cpu to max speed. I dont say it will damage anything, but you can never be sureborghe said:because if it is indeed a 333Mhz processor, it has to be QC'ed for at least 333Mhz.. this is typical on all processors and memory. if there are problems in yields during fab, just send out the part at a lower designated clock speed. but for the chip to go out at 333Mhz, yes, it HAS to run at 333Mhz.
yeah, thanks, 4:3 screen mode is great...if they would just smooth it like the PCE emu doesNew version of SNES emu is out. 4:3 video mode is finally there:
Adds 4:3 Screen Size
Modifies the specification of frame skipping
No restriction of the 6-FPS
Battery life shown under the right of the menu.

how about trying both?Sp3eD said:So I have a problem here.
Best emu to play Sonic games? PSP genisis or generator?

Other than psphacker.com, what sites do you guys recommend for downloading homebrew things? Whenever I've tried downloading from PSP Hacker yesterday or today I get a No files downloads pendingContent-type: text/html File did not download message, so that seems a no-go. http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk seems decent and I grabbed some files, but it seems to be a bit slower at getting things, at least now when I went searching for the v0.02y12 SNES emulator. Maybe it'll be up by the time I'm back with PSP.

MAME will improve and most classic games were remade at least for one of the consoles PSP can emulateIgnatz Mouse said:It's no joke. If MAME were better, I probably would not care so much. But MAME at this point has a pretty short list of games, and none of the ones I really want.

Is it confirmed that game will have 1.52 update in the US version?I sure hope it gets here before Namco Museum Battle Collection. I would hate to have to choose between two sets of classics I want to play!
THat's weird. Very weird. Some of the most graphically demanding games, like DKC, are getting 30-60FPS with sound and transparency disabled - no matter what screen scaling you chose, and get an extra boost if you don't scale the screen..Anyways the SNES emu continues running like shit (not that I don't thank the devs, great job guys)...Tried Plok ! and even without sound and transparency effects I don't get a decent framerate.
What PCE emu are you talking about? The one I'm using (PCEP) does a much worse job scaling the picture compared to SNES emu.yeah, thanks, 4:3 screen mode is great...if they would just smooth it like the PCE emu does

Nah...it isn't weird. I am getting 37 fps...but that's not enough for me. Sound off/Transparency are the main "brakes" for SNES emulation...Running without them with AUTO-FRAMESKIP makes them playable...but the frameskip is pretty noticeable.THat's weird. Very weird. I think games not 'playable' because of bad framerate is bullshit. I played DKC2 with sound and transparency pretty far.ourumov said:Nah...it isn't weird. BTW, does any SF Genesis version work ?
I know they are doing it in Japan, but I don't see the point, frankly. Games have to be cracked anyways for them to work from the memory stick. Games' EXE needs to be cracked/edited, and noone has done that so far. Introducing those firmware updates will just make hacker's job a tad more difficult as now he also has to remove the firmware check from games EXE instead of just making it load from memory stick, but I'd imagine that once they figure out how to make the game load from MS, removing that firmware check would be trivial. I also hope that SCEA would count on US customers being scared of such thing as firmware updates so that they won't force that onto us.I am assuming that all new games past some point will. Sony would be crazy not to.
quetz67 said:Even if not, I wont buy any games that force me to update and lose homebrew.
If Sony makes me choose between new games and the entirety of homebrew development... they lose. That's what DS is for.Danj said:So you won't be buying any new games at all then? :lol
If have to decide to lose all homebrew and pay $40 for coded arms (which really looks hot), play through that in a few days and then again facing the current games drought or having access to thousands of great games with more to come then the choice is easy. When the REALLY good games come to PSP the choice gets harder, but until then we probably have new hacks, the games are already pirated or Sony gave up on firmware upgrades because it cuts software sales.Danj said:So you won't be buying any new games at all then? :lol
