i agree with sho nuff. while i do think that it wont use swap, i do think it will make you do something stupid. like maybe download the emulator/program/homebrew that u wanna use, patch it with some new software and then you can load it onto the psp. or something.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

BTW I will bet you five bucks this new exploit still makes you do something stupid beforehand.

i think you are right, they says it's still a 'trick' ..... wait n see.

I hope no paching is required...Actually if the first eboot called the second one...there would be no problems...:P
But how could that work? If any code could be exectuted, they wouldnt need a second eboot.

I'm going to bed, that way I miss the mess when it takes something crazy like 'boot up psp with memory stick halfway out then jam usb cable into X button' or something. That way when I wake up I can get the good stuff and bypass the waahhhhnnnnnnnzzzzz.

Didn't give the swap trick a try at all, knew it wouldn't be long until something easier comes along, I hope.

Got my custom backgrounds ready to go. A new final fantasy for every month. :D

Lovely backgrounds! I'll start my 4 week vacation in two days so I'll have to start work on a few too...

With about 1,5 hours(?) to go, I'm getting nervous. I'm sure this will be a no-swap hack (even the name changed from Swapaloit to KXploit), but as with the first one, I fear there will be some downside regarding how it works.

Then again there's every reason for optimism. People claim to have heard from the devs that no touching memory sticks is involved. Here's hoping, again!

Could you post a zip pack to the full size backgrounds that you're using? :)

Very soon, Killer-X and the PSP-Dev team will be releasing KXploit, the bigger and badder version of Swaploit. According to anonymous sources, this new exploit will essentially let you pose your 1.5 as a 1.0 by not having to swap out memory sticks to run homebrew.

Stay tuned for the release to be announced shortly!

Edit: IT'S HERE!!!!

Looks good - seems to use a trailing % on the folder name to trick the loading process. No flashing, no swapping, just install and load. About to try it now.

And it works. No tricks, no problems, no swapping, no surprises. You make the directories, you run the emulators.

I'm in homebrew heaven. :)

Yea, it works. Amazing. Once again, you can use PBP unpacker to do your own DATA.PSP -> EBOOT.PBP. Exactly like the "old" two-stick method, except now your launcher (formerly on mem stick 1) is in a folder like "SNES%" and your renamed DATA.PSP and roms are in "SNES". Crazy.

It's really simple and elegant, but how did they figure out that a % at the end of a directory name would have the same effect? Anyone here understand the inner workings of the PSP OS?

Stupid question but do the later games work in 1.50 firmware ? Or do you just need 1.51/1.52 ?
If that was the case...that would be awesome.

I suspect it's just a 1.50 solution since it's basically a streamlined version of the swap trick.

(psst, anyone have a mirror for the latest version of Snes9x?)

All new UMD games require a firmware update, so you have to choose between playing new games or playing emus - or buy a second PSP.

It's a pain that you then have to edit the PBP again to get decent icons, though. :)
Old "swaploit" launcher .PBPs are working fine for me, as are old "MS2" .PBPs. I just copied the directories from my old MS1 to my MS2, adding a "%" to the directory names in the process.

aww crap i deleted all my emus :lol

Are there already games that require updating to 1.52? I thought they only mandated 1.5 - although that will definitely change in the future.

Now Sony - new colours, please, so that I can buy another PSP for UMD gaming. This PSP stays 1.5 forever.

Although it's always possible 1.51 and 1.52 get hacked at some point - it seems that there are always security holes.

Wasnt there a 3 MS version of the swaploit for 1.51 or was that just a hoax? If not maybe they can work something out with 3 folders on on one stick ?!?
