Official Square-Enix preshow hype thread

I"m most interested in seeing FF3 for DS, having only played a couple hours on JNES years ago it remanes to be the most obscure entry in the series. Not to mention its lack of a single north american release, even ff2 has 2 versions out in the US now.

I'm expecting FFVII remake for next gen...you know...setting my expectations as low as possible outside of not expecting any new next gen announcements

I'm all about FFXII. I want to see new characters, hear music samples, and learn more about the game's mechanics. I'm hoping there won't be a delay, but it seems everyone's predicting one. It already feels like it's been forever since the damned thing was announced.

Oh, and confirmation on an FFVII remake for PS3 would be pretty hot, too.

Zeo's Nitpick of the Day:

I really would like them to change it from

Dirge of Cerebrus: Final Fantasy VII and
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

to

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebrus and
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

just like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children isn't Advent Children: Final Fantasy VII.

Just cause, uh, I hate when titles do that and I want all my FFs next to each other in alphabetical order, heh.

/nitpick

Square unmerging with Enix.. Oh how i wish that would happen =[

I bet

FFXII info w/ solid release
KH2 info w/ solid release

of course playable stuff on

FF7: DoC and FF7: Crisis Core

Crystal Chronicles DS and FFIII DS info (very small info)

EHRGEIZ Seuqel!! <=== PLEASE!

World of Mana for DS (Followed by numerous bomb threats and evacuations of the actual show Hall)

Im serious.. I dunno always had a sour taste saying "SquareEnix" as opposed to just "Squaresoft" /nitpick haha
Is that so? :lol Interesting.
The way you had it written, it seemed like you didn't like Enix.

They won't get Metro to make a new Bust a Move.
:lol
Indeed, we need a new Bust a Move.

Oh god I love enix.. I love DW :)

<3 DW

I just hate the name SquareEnix hahah.. im such a nitpicker
Ok, good. I just call them Square most of the time but squenix works as well.

...what has Enix done that's so horrible? :lol

They delay all of the Square-side projects while releasing new Enix game #52254543 every month?

The merger was definitely not a 50/50 even happy team-up.

And this matters to me how? :)

heh, it matters a little to those of us who think non-DQ Enix is kinda crappy whereas Square tends to be a bit more active in their quality control (Mushashi 2 withstanding)

They come out with stuff aside from DQ these days?

If it's not main series DQ or FF, I pretty much don't care if its from either company..so World of Mana being delayed means nothing in Enix 'being a bully to Square' for me.

Was the 3rd one (the PS2 near launch one) any good?

I thought it was good. It's not up to the level of the first 2 but still it was a good game. The Bust a Move series has always been my favorite music game, but it seems pretty dead now. Too bad the music game craze didn't last long enough for more games in the series.

but i heard that World of mana was a next gen title!

wasnt that revealed at a square-enix event?
i saw some slides of it from the presentation

i'm looking forward to grandia 3 stuff the most, it looks soooo good! :D

ffxii, interest, but it's been coming forever, so the sting has gone, i expect it to be good though.

from what i understand.. world of mana isnt necessarily even a game, but one of those fancy new media synergy products, where you'll see games, books, anime, etc come out based in this property

Even though I want G3 much more than it, the FF12 news will be fun to see. With the rumors of Matsuno leaving Square during the games development we should find out if thats true and if so who replaced him. It doesn't seem like its Kitase since he's busy with the PS3 FF.

WHAT?! I hope that is not the case, as I have really enjoyed Matsuno's work in the past and he was the prime reason I am so interested in FFXII in the first place.

After Dance Summit, and even Dance Tengoku Mix, I don't think I want to see another Bust-a-Move. There's nothing left to do with the franchise save kill the few fans left of the series (and I thought Dance Summit did that already!), so let it die.

I wouldn't expect any huge announcements save the FFXII release date. Maybe another FMA game at most. Maybe some Before Crisis->DS ports. Maybe some more Code Age games. I would most certainly not expect some kind of DQ6r, unless FFXII is moved to PS3. They're Square-Enix, why compete with themselves? I kind of think FFXII was delayed just to wait till DQ7 had reached it's peak. BUSINESS FIRST!!

As long as no new Cavia games are announced, the event will be a huge success to me.

I wanna see a new game from tri-Ace, FF3 DS, a bit of World of Mana (is it confirmed to be an MMORPG? If so I don't give a damn), DQ6r... but we'll probably end up with more Code Age Commanders and another FFXI expansion. I'm probably the only one on these boards who doesn't really care that much about FFXII (though I'm interested in what happened during dev time that it's taking so long), which is sad since I used to be such a big FF fan.

It wasn't suppose to be a 50/50 merger I thought.

After Square lost some $100-odd mil after Spirits Within, their value decline enough to have Enix have the majority hold in the merger.

It was a life-saving merger for Square, I thought shares were like 1.5 Eniz to 1 Square.

So Enix was the controlling entity.

I'm not all that interested in FF XII either. I just want them to announce a release date and explain the problems they've had so far. Other than that, I could care less about XII.

A new tri-Ace game would be great. They're probably working on a next-gen project already.

This is what I'm interested in

- FFXII screens / videos
- Is FFIII DS still on it's way or not
- FF action RPG for PSP, show me something :)
- With Sword of Mana for GBA I got this card, I could fill in from what game I wanted a port and there were titles like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana for what I remember. Are they doing anything with it?

Musashi 2 isn't that bad. Outside of some serious technical issues, the game is actually pretty fun. It's a much better GAME than Kingdom Hearts, for example, which received loads of praise. It's a very decent ARPG with an amazing soundtrack.

Every 1 of Enix share for 0.81 of Square's shares. To make up, Yoichi Wada, the current president (of that time) of Square has become the president of the joint company.

As to the show, this is a Square Enix only event. They won't show anything as big as a new game, because they just don't have to - they already own the show.

Don't expect the FFVII remake, Chrono Break, or anything else like that. Expect FFXI for Xbox 360, more info on CC and DoC, and some extra coverage of games for NDS.
