Major is really impressive thanks Cloudy man it is really cool I think I'm hooked :)

edit: Okay I got my ass handed to me during Major ep 6 its been a while since an anime did that. damn

I told you :)

PS: Yeah, Ep 6 was just wrong :lol

wrong is too soft of a word... COLD just damn COLD.

Wraith I can see your point somewhat but to me it did not mess up the anime, I would have wished they waited for the kid to get to high school fighting for the koshien title maybe at ep 50 - but being only 26 eps for the series [ep 6] that was anime magic right there well worth it -

just 4 more eps to go :(

Tideline Blue ep1 was pretty good. Character designs are a little fruity/too young for my taste, but the story premise is a little interesting; the animation is fantastic; and the music is good in a Xenogears kinda way. Definitely will check out the next few eps to see if this is a keeper.

Just finished watching the first ep of Okusama wa Joshikosei, concept is opposite of Onegai Teacher minus the Sci-fi elements and beginning has the same feel as Ai Yori Aoshi (same VA) hopefully it doesn't turn out like AYA did near the end. So far not too bad, art isn't horrible but i've heard that its not quite as good as the manga which I can't find nor will the story follow the manga which is ecchi/hentai? Sounds kinda like Futari Ecchi er.. minus the ecchi but right now its onesided urge, hopefully they'll shed some light on the background story. From what others have said, there's some kind of contract (didn't really read what it said when shown in the anime).

HIMM 6 was hilarious as usual "Yoshitaka... Good Job!", I'll probably check out Kamichu.

If you haven't seen The Diary of Tortov Roddle, go watch it now!

I would like to check out the manga too... still the anime does have too much needless fan-service not very Ai Yori Aoshi because this girl seems like she really would like to get some and has no shame about it

yeah probably more like futari ecchi then ai yori aoshi, but even with AYA the relationship didn't really get that far as it became love hina. It's kinda natural tho i'd imagine that as a recently married couple they would have their honeymoon, its also more interesting imo when female is the pervert.. because most of the time its some pervert loser as the main character.

I just watched Okusama wa Joshikosei. You know, I love slice of life stuff, but I couldn't handle that show. The concept was just too painfully retarded.

Still waiting for Ichigo Mashimaro to premiere. I wish I could get my hands on vol 4 of the manga...

Eureka 8...I mean 7...I mean, EPISODE 8.

I watched Eureka Seven ep13 yesterday! Nya nya! :P~~~~

It was fucking awesome. Eureka Seven's first season is now over and it's still fucking awesome. LONG LIVE BONES! ALL BOW DOWN TO BONES! LONG LIVE BONES!

Heh, I wasn't going to post about Eureka since I didn't want to make the sub-waiting people sad; but Duckroll already did that.

So yea, ep11-13 of Eureka is fucking incredible. You get this feeling watching it that you're watching history in the making. Like in 10 years this show will be held on the same level that Eva and Bebop were after they aired. It's just an near perfect show with absolute perfection of good directing, extremely good animation, and a well thought out script with very interesting characters. It's already better than everything Bones has done and that's saying a lot considering RX/Sutepri/FMA were all excellent.

Unless Gun x Sword picks up quite a lot, Eureka is the best show of 2005 and if the story ends up being really good it has the potential to be one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I'm only up to episode 6 but wow, that's good to hear.

I'll look forward to it :D My japanese isn't too good so i don't want to spoil myself by watching the raws.
Only anime that seems interesting during their summer is the new FMP.

Any news on when Seikai no Senki III is suppose to air? I'm really looking forward to it since they announced it, but i dunno when it's supppose to air.

Stop hyping up shit so much :lol Now I'm expecting life-changing experience and will probably end up being disappointed.

Didn't see much of new anime last week except for DCSS, which is still ok if you're into bishoujo/eroge adaptations, little bit more ecchi than first season, no Nemu or Sakura though, and Kotori suddenly turned into hottie.
As for spring shows; Honey and Clover keeps on rocking every single episode, Emma it seems is ending after only 2 volumes of manga material, and Futakoi Alternative is still this year's favorite of mine.

It's not "airing". SnSIII is just going to be a short 2 volume OVA with 30mins each. The actual full novel adaptation is running as a radio drama right now and compiled into CDs. Chances of THAT being localized is pretty much zero. :D

Yeah I have been watching only the Raws so far the subs take too damn long such an awesome show! :D

Got to find 13!

---

Kamichu! downloaded ep 1 and 2 come to find out the .avi file and .srt files came separated O_o I'm lucky I got M-Player to finally be able to see the avi and play the subtitles - show seems so cute... the animation when she was eating and chewing in ep one at the start I kept rewinding because the chewing looked so human :)

Even Eureka Seven raws are messed up still... I tried to watch ep 13 and noticed I never found Raw 12

:lol

if this show wasnt so good I would give up on it

Gun x Sword ep2 was a bit better. The character exchanges are good and you can see Goro's usual directing in them. He's definitely going for a certain type of show: the traveling episodic hero similar to Trigun or early FMA. As of now it's still a bit bland story-wise, but the potential is there for sure. And Van is a good main lead.

I think there's a good chance that whenever a larger/main story arc pops up the show will get really good. For now it's an enjoyable episodic action show that's still better than 90% of the shows airing.

Ok time for this week's update:

Gun x Sword Ep2 - I liked this less than ep1. It was really really silly like many AIC series, but there was some good foreshadowing of potential plot elements. Really really silly ep though. I almost couldn't take it.

Kamichu Ep3 - Awesome writing as usual. The ep's story was smart and cute. Great conclusion too. Unfortunately the animation quality and art has plunged into the nine hells and it looks like any other late night anime series now. Comparing this with ep1-2 will be really really distracting. :(

Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid Ep1 - Downloading it now.... details unavailable.

Update!

FMP 2nd Raid Ep1 - Fumoffu is still leaps and bounds better than any serious FMP series. It doesn't help that 80% of the ep was a long mission with Sousuke fighting in his Arm Slave. The animation's pretty good and the directing is solid but it just isn't really engaging and/or particularly cool. If the final part of the ep is any indication, the character parts of the show should still be great. I just have to wonder how much of them there actually will be. :(

I mostly like humor and fanservice from FMP fumoffu. I have not seen the new one. I'm a bit surprised Westerns watch so much new anime. Where do you get it Bittorent?

I get most of my anime from bittorrent. Pretty good place usually, especially for new stuff. :)

The Second Raid was awesome. Great action, funny as usual, great seeing all the regular characters again :)...Although in the minority, I love both FMP series and am glad to see it return to this style of story. BTW, does anyone know how many episodes TSR is slated to run for? I'm guessing 24....

Yeah if you liked the original TSR is great. I'm more of a Fumoffu fan though. ^^;

Rumor has it TSR will run for 13 on WOWOW covering all of the two-part novel Owarina Day by Day, while other rumors state that it might have another 13 eps for DVD only. None of the above has been factually substantiated so take it all with large grains of salt. :D

Just finished watching both eps of Kamichu, I don't think this one is for me. Found myself dozing off near the end of ep 2, even tho i find Yurie cute don't see where the plot is going. It seems very laid back.

Checked out Dokuro-chan, and seems pretty funny but not lol for me. I'll probably keep with it even tho dokuro is kinda annoying, and the death+revival is repeatitive.

Futakoi Alternative, not sure if i mentioned this series before but I've found it strangely addicting. From what I hear its nothing like the original Futakoi (much to futakoi fans' displeasment) however its a nice drama (past first eps) that poses an interesting moral question.

a little off-topic, but I also recently finished I's and Video Girl Ai mangas both very good I recommend them to shoujo/drama fans.

Which group does the best sub of Honey & Clover?

Edit: Just watched episode 1 translated by that sun group. I like it a lot already, nice style, pretty funny. Can't wait to watch 'em all.

So uh.. could we start ranking this shit. I got loads of recommendations and no clue what's really good. Oh, and if anyone knows what my guy, Shininchiro Wantanabe is up to, it'd be much appreciated. I hear rumors of a joint project. I really hope we don't wait 5-6 years for his next project. After Bebop, he did the movie, the Animatrix, and that's about it :-/

Anyway, from what I've seen, decent stuff but nothing mind blowing like Champloo was episode 1.

Eureka 7 eps 1 and 2 - Good stuff, though a little too much been there done that with robots and crushes and young boy's yet to know their own power. Still, it's really well done if that's what you like. I'm going to keep going with this.

Honey & Clover ep 1 - Crazy and manic. Charming though. Don't expect to see one more charming come along. Definitely need to see more. Light hearted and entertaining.

That's it for now. Btw, I also don't stay updated with my anime too much. But after 3-4 episodes of Monster, what's the reason I should stay on? It's got an insane fan base but I don't understand why yet. Also, what's a must see outside of Champloo of the past few years? One Piece, Naruto, Planetes, FMA, etc. Seen a few episodes of Monster and FMA but neither got me too excited. Gungrave right now is what Im setting my sights on. Want one more though, friend's buying the dvd's for that.

The first couple episodes of Eureka are sort of your standard mech series start formula. It pretty much changes after that and gets a lot more distinctive.

As for Monster, its writing is nothing short of pure brilliance. It's a work of genius, but the first 5 or so episodes are a bit slower than the rest of the series. It's doing a lot of somewhat tedious groundwork in those episodes laying the base.

FMA doesn't really get good until episode 7 and doesn't really kick into high gear until episode 13 or so. It didn't really impress me after the first couple episodes either, and now it's one of my favorite series.

If you're not watching One Piece, you're missing out on the greatest shounen series of all time. Period. But only in Japanese. :D

just watched Ichigo Mashimaro. It was awesome as expected. :)

I think I've outgrown being able to watch shows that really on just being cute. I can enjoy cute when it's cute + funny like Yotsubato, but I didn't find Mashimaro ep1 very funny at all :( It had nice animation and was cute but I need more than that, so I doubt I'm gonna follow this one.

- Emma ending: really sad but that's what i was expecting.
- FMP TSR makes the graphics whore in me happy :)
- One Piece and Bleach ridiculize Naruto.
- Gun X Sword better than i expected
- Kamichu is weird
- Honey&Clover is very good
- Nana Volume11 is great, i'd really like to see an anime version.
- Eureka 7: i heard the 3 last episodes are great, but so far it's one of the worst Bones series.
- I don't know anything about Baseball but i enjoy Major a lot

is there a sub of gun x sword? or is everyone thats seen it watching it on tv? I'm not seeing it.

of the new stuff, most of what I've recently tried has been fanservice crap =\

kamichu wasn't bad but I don't know if I want to see more than episode 1.

what makes eureka so great? I watched the first 3 episodes and it just seemed... standard. What changes so drastically?

tide line might be ok, depends I guess. Main character instantly makes me think of Ed from FMA.

Diary of Tortov Riddle was fucked up.

I have a promo here of a show called 'Utawarerumono' anyone know what this is about? The promo looked like it might be interesting if it has better animantion than what is shown in the few clips of crappy battles.

also watched the first of Eien no Aseria which was stupid. nother boy travels to new dimension and forced to fight.

basilisk still awesome
trinity blood needs a longer story arc.
and monster is the best anime as usual.

Well slice of life is my favorite genre (followed by dramas and romantic comedies... yeah that's the kind of person I am!), and something that's focusing on girls is even more appealing to me, so yeah...
But I definately prefer Yotsubato! over Ichigo Mashimaro, I can't wait til they turn that into an anime.

Licensed

Yeah I didn't feel for it, especially with all the mystical hocuspocus that essentially rendered the series a magical girl show in the 2nd half.

Diary of Tortov Riddle was fucked up.

Haha really? What's it like? I LOVE fucked up stuff

I think it's based on an H game by the company that made To Heart and Comic Party, but I may be mixing it up with another title.

to call tortov riddle anime is kinda pushing it in a style sense. I mean its a sub of a japanese cartoon but I wouldn't call it 'anime'

the animation is more sorta... chalky... not sure how to describe it. Looks like the whole thing was drawn in pencil or oil paints at times. It feels in style to me like an american cartoon drawn by a single person that would probably fail miserably and yet achieve a sort of cult following.

its very whimsical and extremely slow paced. There are never any words spoken, the only word component that you get is cards that are displayed between scenes to let you in on the tortov's feelings on what he's seeing. Its kinda like you are reading his diary (it is, after all, calle dthe diary of tortov riddle) and seeing what he went through between pages.

I wouldn't call it a great show (yet) but it was fun to watch just for being so different from everything else.

also the animation isn't fluid which bothers me. Probably done on purpose to compliment the style but I can't help just feeling like its 'bad' animation. If you were to look at it in stills though each scene is interestly drawn and a lot of effort was put into lighting/shading.

Ah I thought you meant fucked up as in like, something out of a David Lynch movie. :P

the story is weird as well... almost like a children's book for adults or something. Its the kind of whimsical fucked up story that requires an incredible imagination and a very strong inner child or lots and lots of drugs. But probably both.

Utawarerumono is indeed a renai game from Leaf, so it's going to have an anime adaptation? that would be cool, i heard good things about the game.

Kana is the same story featured in Shoujo Beat? ...yes i was flipping through it while being self concious at the bookstore! Today i get my Gundam Fix.

The next several episodes are all about Renton and the crew. Very little about the mechs (relatively speaking), and when there is something about the mechs, it usually involves Renton throwing up from motion sickness. Very character driven and really funny. Looks like the main plot is about to kick in now with episode 9.

It seems like you guys all just "forgot" that BONES series tend to start out slow and then hit "THE" episode were it all suddenly starts to click.

- Tide Line Blue looks very promising but it's gonna take awhile to get over the main character's terrible gear :lol

- Too early to tell but FMP2's music is kinda weak and that can't be a good sign -_-

Okusama was alright but I think I'll shoot myself if I hear "Doma-Sama" again anytime soon. *Painful flashbacks of AYA* >_<
