im thinking of picking up either the HRAP or the VSHG (when either get restocked) as a second joystick (Ive been using the HFS3), which one would be better to pick up? and both work on PC right, the HFS3 doesnt seem to and I heard the HRAP does, not sure about the VSHG.
Apparently both sticks work on PC (you have to press the playstation button to get it to show up, or something)

thank you for contacting Play-Asia.com.

We regret we haven't received any updated information from our supplier.
If we have any news, we will update our website.

Still no joy with joysticks though. :( I don't think I'll have sticks in time for the ps3 now.

good and bad news then...

im thinking im gonna just get the VSHG when its in stock, I dont think any fighting games use 8 buttons, so I dont have to worry about that.

Does the guide tell you which items you get for specific characters with additional orb discs? Or is that random too?

Also, this is killing me... is there a way to switch between main and sub costumes in Quest Mode while you're still actively playing at an arcade?

I'm enjoying this game more and more as I've really been playing it a lot the past few days. I have 5 or 6 characters to conqueror now and so far Pai is my favorite. Awesome moves, is fun to play and watch, and she has some really nice clothing options and I've gotten really lucky with item battles. Lei Fei is also amazing and nothing beats the blindfold <3

Woohoo I got my shipping confirmation for my VSHG from PlayAsia this morning! Should be in my grubby hands by the middle of next week :D .

Am I the only one that doesn't like arching buttons on a 6 button stick?

Are there tiers for VF5? El Blaze seems to do an absolute tremendous amount of damage for being an uppity retard who doesn't shut the **** up. God I hate that son of a bitch. Meanwhile, Sarah (who I'm using) has to work her ass off to get any siginificant amount of damage in.

the Brady Guide is like one big instruction booklet with the movesets and small discriptions of the chosen usefull moves and they listed a few combos for each character

Quest Mode in the Guide is really limited, they don't list any characters beyound 10th Dan.
So Masters - Conquerors are not listed

the other problem with the guide is that they don't list all the items available.
They only list the items you already know that are available in the shop.

Been posted a few times in the thread... here it is according to the latest Enterbrain/Arcadia Tougeki Spirits Vol.

S: Shun, Pai
A: Vanessa, Eileen, Kage, Lei Fei
B: Brad, Wolf, Lau, Jacky
C: Akira, Goh
D: Lion, Sarah, Aoi
E: Jeffry, El Blaze

The game is pretty balanced, so don't worry about tiers!

Any GAF members not want their HRAP3 or VSHG? I want to buy some! Let me know!

My sticks came! (please excuse the crappy pics + mess!)

Shame I have to wait ten more days for my Euro PS3. I have VF5, the Brady Guide, and Two sticks now. Thankfully I'm pretty busy for the next week or so, should take my mind off it.

My VSHG is now in Lexington...that PlayAsia shipping is blazing fast! I'll post some impressions on Monday.

Any comparisons you could make to playing on the sixaxis would be much appreciated. I just bought a PS3 and VF5 Friday and I'm debating whether it's worth it to order a real fighting stick from playasia. I only hesitate because 1) I'm a newbie to VF and 2) I don't really know anyone else who plays, so I'm mostly against the CPU.

Thanks!

Edit: Dock UK, I'm completely jealous of the sticks and setup, too!

Here's some pics I took this afternoon...

I'm not a connoisseur when it comes to joysticks but this thing is solid! I'm transitioning from using the SIXAXIS so it's taking me a while to get my moves down again, but I can already tell the VSHG is much more responsive. Everything about this joystick screams quality and I'm really glad I waited for it to be released.

Tomorrow I should have more time to play around with it. In the mean time enjoy the pics.

I dunno if it's been noted, but it seems every 25 matches in Quest mode that a Tourney goes underway. If you save after your 24th match, complete your 25th (the Tourney invite comes up), you would now have the option of either:

a: Play the Tourney for the item/gold offered

or

b: (if you want gold)Reload your save, complete your 25th match again, and the Tourney should offer gold instead of an item. It's a decent way of manipulating your Tournament winnings.

I've been lucky in getting 15,000 gold for Tournaments and have pretty much acquired all of Vanessa's items within ~300 matches. Still working on that 50,000 item, though.

If it's been posted, my bad.

I got my VHGS finally and the box inside the box was surprisingly a little beat up more than I expected. The stick inside looked like it was fine though fortunately. Was there supposed to be any paperwork inside the box though? Usually there is like a warranty card or something but nothing inside. I'm loving the stick so far, but what was the technical flaw that was in the stick before? Is there any way to know if I got a new revised stick? What worries me is randomly, I've noticed that the pause menu will pop up as if I hit start but I know I wasn't anywhere close to it so it has me worried. I need to test it out some more but so far it seems extremely responsive and way better than the pad. I'm pulling off moves that I had trouble doing on the SIXAXIS. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with my stick but I'm worried about what a pain it will be to replace it.

Man, the VFHG stick is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. =D

I hope Sony will throw a fix in for to allow these stick to be used for PS1/2 games. =x

Ugh I think my Virtua Stick High Grade is defective =( I was just practicing a bit and then I noticed I was moving around the cpu in circles and I wasn't even pushing in a direction at that point. I let go and it just continued to move around. It's going to be a pain to have to ship this back to Play-Asia =( =(

Thanks to play-asia, I have yet to received my Virtua Stick orders.... even though they were ordered back in December of last year.

Does your stick have the sticker on the bottom/on the back of the box?

I received both of my VSHG sticks last Friday, both appear to be from the new batch (with the stickers on the back of the box/on the bottom of the sticks I believe) that were reissued. I hope that the reissues have no issues.
I don't even have a PS3 or VF5 to test the sticks out right now... guess I'll have to bring them over to my friend's place some time.

Anyone tested the new batch of sticks with Tekken: DR or PS2 games yet?

Ya, I just learned that it's definitely a reissue stick. It's got the sticker on the new UPC code and it has an S engraved on the bottom of the stick.

Anyone know if PAL VF5 will include more costumes and prizes and stuff? (E.g. 'Version B' from the Japanese arcades)

Also, will there be no way to play 2 saved characters from different PS3s/memory cards against each other, regardless of region?

I was surprised that the cables on both sticks weren't longer, but I suppose these are intended for Japanese gaming setups (which are usually pretty cosy). I'm going to pick up a pair of short USB extension cables. It's about 1m shorter than I'd like it.

Marty - Really sorry to hear that dude! :( I hope no-one else has bad luck too!

B-Genius - the PAL version won't have any additional content. It'll probably just be the same disc contents.

ugh i want this game so bad, but can't afford a ps3 yet
when i was in tokyo last fall i played it in some arcades, and got stomped on by a lot of japanese players. i think i would've held my own if i had played vf4:evo in the months leading up to the trip, but i hadn't really touched it in almost a year. it was kind of funny, because i was in one of the sega world arcades in akihabara, and was looking everywhere for it on 5 floors, and couldn't find it...then when i was about to leave i realized that the basement was only vf5.

anyway, japanese players are really friggin good. i mean i think i would've held my own if i had been playing prior to the trip, but even then i still would've lost a lot. the first guy i played i lost 5 straight to, but after that i was around ~40% when i quit playing him over and over again.

how much was that stick?

...i'm assuming a vf4 stick won't work on a ps3

So any noteable difference between this

and the Virtua Stick High Grade?

The Hori PS3 stick is available at EB, while the VF High Grade is an import. What is the difference?

Quality of parts.

The VSHG uses authentic arcade parts as the FS3 doesn't.

Also the button layout is the traditional layout for gaming.

It's not retarded like the FS3.

The face buttons on the FS3 curve in a different direction from face buttons on pretty much all other sticks.

I was a little suprised by how clicky the stick was but I don't have any problems with it except I have difficulty trying to do Kage's consecutive rolls. I want to blame it on the square gate, but this is my first time with VF on a stick, so I dunno. :p

Tekken works fine from what I can tell.

New item got uploaded to VF.net recently...... chest hair:lol :lol :lol

I saw a couple of players with it today, either that or the monitor was awfully splotchy!　I've seen Akira and Wolf with it, but it seems that characters like Jacky, Lion and Jeffry (for obvious reasons) don't have it. Too bad!

I refuse to let this thread die! It won't die!

Here's a match replay from the arcade version, version B. This was after the KS4 Hokuriku regionals up in Fukui prefecture, against my friend Namflow, who's got a rockin Shun and an equally rockin' Blaze.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRHKOLIHo-0

This replay is actually the first replay that I saved after I had signed up for VF.net premium... it's not the best match that I've had (you can't count the mistakes I made on both hands :( ) but hey, I won and it was a decent match due to the tension of it being a ranking match. This is my commentary on the second match, that I posted on Virtuafighter.com. Note the cool addition of the button commands being displayed on my player side, so you can see what I'm actually doing when I play!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yphe13Joioo

I HATE playing rank matches so much. Even though I've been playing since the arcade release, I still tense up a little bit compared to if I was playing someone of higher or lower rank. I guess I just hate losing :\

1st round: I tried f+P+K+G, P to see how it would work after tech roll and you can see the results. I'll stick to f+P,P from now on since it's much better. As you'll see later on in the match, I love b, d/f+P a lot against a lot of characters. It just works for me I suppose.

2nd round: In hindsight, after I had missed that first catch throw, that should've been my clue to NOT USE IT EVER AGAIN IN THE MATCH. But I kept using it like an idiot. You'll also see that aftr tech rolls I tend to try to attack back almost every time, which is a shitty habit of mine, which I have yet to break. I gotta stop that and actually watch what the other player is doing.

3rd round: I'm totally surprised that PKP actually tracked here... I thought I was going to get owned for that mistake. My habit of attcking after tech rolls ****ed me over here hardcore too. and omg is that a throw escape? I'm shocked that he ate all of my FC, f+P+G... and I'm shocked I ate all of his throws too :(

4th round: Reno, stop attacking like a homo. And stop using the catch throw. And stop missing throws for that matter. But OMG K,K after tech roll actually worked this time!

5th round: Good thing I backdashed before that b, b+K!

As it says on my Youtube, not one of my best matches, but it was my first replay, so that's why I uploaded it. I'll try to get more vids of my Wolf and Goh up soon.

I'll just post something as well to support Reno...

Here are my VS:HG's!

We know who to blame for any shortages... =P

The stick rocks. I love it. Wish I could play my PS2 fighters with it.

Has there been any word on the VsHG stick from Sega coming to the US? The shipping from PlayAsia for it is just too high to justify.

Question: I'm playing the PAL version of VF5 on my friend's machine and I noticed that he doesn't appear to have an option for commentary. Does anyone else have this problem on the PAL version and if you don't then how do you activate it?

It's not under game options?

No it isn't there. I also checked under sound setting and other than adjusting the music and sound effects level there is nothing else.

Please don't tell me that SEGA Europe were stupid enough to remove commentary from the game?

More match replays of me playing in the arcades. Why aren't people uploading their replays from the PS3? Weird, you'd think that some people would actually bother with replays since the PS3 can upload them and all that...

Reno vs Akira (Lost, but still a fun match to watch. Too many mistakes on both sides though.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiy4g3L5TGo

Reno vs. Jacky (Stupid ass bounce combo at the end of the second round. You can escape it, which I did in the fourth round, but still stupid...)

Reno vs. Akira (9th Dan underestimating a "lowly" 3rd Dan player... and loses :P)

Should be under game options, but to be honest you are not missing much, commentary is not very good.

Edit** Sorry mine's the Japanese version**

It's the point of the principle. They shouldn't remove stuff just for the shit of it. It's like taking Third Strike out of the SF anniversary edition, oh wait...!

great replays, and quite fast gameplay there. Nice watching Akira players too, i'm one, myself.

i'd love to upload replays, but that's only available in Versus mode, right? my friends are not into Virtua Fighter at all (which should lead me to think twice who i hang out with, huh? :lol ), so i don't have any opponents around here, worthy or not.

I'll upload some replays next time I play. I'm trapped playing against scrubs most of the time though.

Only other gafer I know from the Oklahoma city area is shpankey. I should call him out if he owns this game to pick it up. I need more vfers.

Wait, WHAT?

No commentary in VF5 PAL? Seriously?
Sure, it's terrible and all, but why would they remove an optional feature that's off by default?

Can anyone confirm that it has been removed?
