You are way too easily impressed by slick menu designs.
Perhaps. I was starting to get used to Konami's 480p menus and Capcom's lame arcade art on the sides. All the enhancements and options I'd want seem to be in these Sega titles.

But are you noticing any emulation problems? I realize the spike glitch was in the original Sonic, but do all the effects sound right to you guys? Any slowdown where there shouldn't be any?

Anyone else try the "Turn Smoothing Option On" option in Sonic?

Do you like the resultant change in graphics?

Personally, I think it looks sharper.

The games are actually full screen, maybe this is a new trend.:b
Btw-did anyone notice that with MicroSoft's Live Arcade video at E3...BattleStar Galactica was never shown?

Damn it must be a ways off I suppose.

Whatever dipshit at Sega decided to port the Genesis version of Golden Axe over the Arcade version needs to be punched squarely in the balls. Repeatedly. By something large and metallic. With spikes.

I tried it but quickly changed it back to the default setting.

The game's fun to play on a big screen but, eh... I think I'll just stick with Gens.

Sonic and Sonic 2, I might really buy.

But one thing I realized the other day is, I buy Arcade games and play them for 1-2 weeks max. then forget about them. I bought Pinball FX thinking I'd play it once in a while but played it only 2 weeks. Prince was great but I never replayed it. The only one I revisit a lot is SF2: HF.. Anyone else feel this way?

I'll still buy, play and finish Sonic 1 and 2 of course. My Game Gear favorites. Are Sonic graphics enhanced in any way? Can someone post a couple of screenshots?

Reading Comprehension for the loss. It IS the Arcade version.

Did anyone download the Arcade montage from Live Marketplace?

It didn't show many new titles - I didn't see Battlestar Galactica, for example. Did I just get a wrong version or something?

I think it looks great like that.
Purists be damned ;)

Golden Axe on the other hand, looks a bit odd with the smoothing.

Patch coming for Texas Hold 'Em next Wednesday

The free update will introduce several significant features, bug fixes and updates based on user feedback, including Xbox LIVE Vision Camera support (player bankrolls will not be reset with this update).

Now with live video, players can put on their best poker face and scrutinize the faces of their opponent’s in true poker fashion. Using the Xbox LIVE Vision Camera also allows players to use a series of game faces using the snapshot mode for all-ins, wins, losses, folds and more. Other features of the update include the following:

Improved usability such as the addition of Custom Match Lists, which allows gamers to view and select which available Custom Match game they would like to join.
Improved rich presence in the game, allowing players to not only see what their friends are up to, but also if they just won that big pot!
Improved matchmaking and user results.
Scoring and screens are more readable than before.
Multi-language support including English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
New premium downloadable content allows players to customize the in-game environment, and access new gamerpics and themes.

I like it for Sonic, but Golden-Axe things look a little weird.

They need to release a patch for Texas Hold 'Em that significantly speeds up game play. It's way too slow. After each hand you have to wait for each player to hit the A button. The cards are dealt out pretty slow. And some other stuff I can't remember from when I played it at my friend's last time. I guess it's meant for the super casual market but I've played some poker on the internet and the software of sites like Poker Stars, Party Poker is much more streamlined, faster and more enjoyable.

It certainly doesn't look like it. Looks just like the Genesis port on the Classics Collection.

There is stuff like corpses left over after you kill them that the Genesis couldn't do. Plus the sound effects were very limited on the Genesis too.

Anyone read impressions on Live games at the show? Was curious how Bomberman was, and if there was anything left out of the conference.

Add betting with Microsoft Points too, and I'm so there.

About Golden Axe, is there a way to limit the number of continues you get? It seems to be unlimited (if so, guess I'll have to limit myself). How many lives did you get in the Genesis version?

Any news on Alhambra and Talisman?

After the great job people did with Catan and Carcassonne my Live! Arcade time has been spent exclusively on boardgame recreations.

Well, given how accurate the USK has been (They were the rating service that tipped us off about Tetris Splash, Switchball, Marathon: Durandal. Soltrio Solitaire and a few others I think) then this news is very much true,

Anyone notice a delay in controller input when playing Sonic?

Yes. Seems to take a fraction of a second to register your jumps. It's runing the feel of the game for me, which is a massive disappointment.

I even tried using a wired controller "just in case". No difference.

Big, big shame.

No news on Alhambra just yet, seems to be in the mists of limbo at the moment. The word on Talisman is that it isn't coming until the fall at the earliest, I recall seeing a release date of October 3 on the Wikipedia XBLA list, but the veracity of that claim is dubious. You best bet as far as recreations of board games lies in the hands of Spyglass Board Games, which from all the signs appears to be hitting the service first.

Most people are probably the same way, but you're only paying $5-10 for these games, so they are worth it even if you only play them for a few weeks (or a few days).

Man if I buy this version of Sonic I am going to punch myself. I own it on like 3 different systems and PC. It is so tempting though, hi-def and surround sound. *downloads demo*

Yeah, me too.

I like the smoothing.

As far as the jumping goes, I agree, something felt off but I thought it was coz I was sleepy.

I'm disappointed that there aren't any per level leaderboards. That would have added so much to the game, I would have bought StH a 3rd time.

Per level leaderboards that would have a leaderboard for time, and another for points.

Has anybody had any issues with your score properly recording to the leaderboards in Sonic? I got a score of around 140,000, and my leaderboard score said 800 points. Started a new game, got up to 30,000, then purposely died to see what happened. Again, my leaderboard score wasn't updated.

They are probably using Digatal Eclipse's emulation engine like they did with Sonic and Golden Axe. :<

I don't think that is the case, not sure who did Sonic but I did see the dev listed for Golden Axe was Sega's own Secret Level.
