Just like MH, bosses HP will scale depending on if you playing solo or with others, at least I’m hoping that’s the case.

I imagine it will be the same as when I killed the end boss of shadow of the ERDTREE as I was fighting the boss with the two npc summons and the damage I was doing was about 1 percent per attack then I tried it solo and It was about 5%

PS4 and Xbox One. Jesus Christ, can't those consoles die already?

It's going to be their 12th year on the market.
If they take time to do it it’s either because the cost is so low or because there is still significant amount of money to be made there. My guess is T2 markets that are not at the forefront of gaming like LATAM or maybe Africa, previous generation could be very popular there.

I wonder if the game controls the other 2 characters if you play it solo so the balance will be exactly the same, that kind of makes sense if uts that way but I hope it isn't.

Is mental illness contagious on this forum? FROM has multiple projects in the works, this isn't the "next big game", calm down. Solo play has already been confirmed, don't why the question keeps getting posted. I'm hyped for it, FROMs take on a roguelike with ER's mechanics being reworked, boss appearances from games past, this is going to be cool 👍
I don't think people are thinking it's their next big game.
People feel weird about it because it doesn't look like the kind of stuff FromSoft would do regarding their history.
They release either big game with heavy lore, atmosphere etc... or good quality story DLC.
Now this is looking more like a cash grab on Elden Ring and past games. For now it looks like a fun mode in Elden Ring world with more action oriented mechanics and old bosses from other franchise (I am all for Soulsborne games are in one universe but here there is no story. The dev already confirm it's not canon and it should be regarded as a "spin off of Elden Ring").

So people are scared for the future of FromSoft because this looks a bit a first step into "mainstream AAA gaming" and "effortless" capitalization on their franchise.

EDIT: I don't say it will be bad per se. But it feels off to me, even if I might play it depending on the price and the content

EDIT 2 : In some regards, it can feel a bit like the Diablo Immortals on mobile announcement while everyone wanted Diablo 4 on PC. Extreme comparison but it holds a bit the same vibes to me

Eh. The trailer left me a bit cold. It looked like Fromsoft throwing in everything and the kitchen sink to appeal to as many audiences as possible, rather than focusing on what they're good at, i.e. level and encounter design. Too much of that trailer feels like they're chasing the live service/GAAS/Fortnite dragon.

Then I read the PC Gamer hands-on posted earlier to see if I could get more details. It sounds mildly more interesting than the trailer let's on, but I'm concerned about each run only being approximately 30 minutes and the re-use of the same map over and over, which the author mentioned was starting to bore him after only 6 hours with the game.

I'm also concerned that it basically sounds like the director had a bunch of random ass ideas that he wanted to experiment with and Miyazaki said, "Yeah, sure, do whatever you want. I'm out." So it's Fromsoft without Miyazaki's guidance and I'm not too confident in the, and I hate to call it this, the B-team's abilities without Miyazaki guiding them.

I'll have to wait to see some real unedited gameplay to make my final judgment. But right now, I'm not in love with what I've seen or read.

IGN have played it. They provide a lot of detail of the game mechanics here:

FROM have proven themselves time and time and time again, they've earned ALL the trust in the world. Now if someone fundamentally doesn't like a Roguelike structure then I 100% understand that they wouldn't be into it. On the other hand, it could be the game that makes them fall in love with the genre. The one thing I will say upfront is that it shouldn't be a full priced release, I imagine it will be in the range of Shadow of the Erdtree, $40.

Trust is not forever and their vision might change. Already the base Elden Ring was a shift for me in their game design. Still good but not as good as before.
Then the DLC was another step in the bad direction for me. And now NightReign that looks very off as a long term fan.
But that's just personal in the end. This year, I start to think that maybe the FromSoft I liked start to change and it's not a big deal. I'll find other great game to play if I don't like their future style.

That's said again, I might play it because I like here and there to play roguelike. But this really looks like a shift of direction from the studio.

Hands on review (no footage).

So basically 3 players coop roguelike on randomized map. Price aimed to be in the range of Shadow of Erdtree. No character creation. "Danger zone" shrinking like in battle royale. But it's PvE.
10 minutes "days" then a boss fight. Last 3 days.

I'm an OG FROM fan going back to King's Field and I disagree. Elden Ring is one of the best games ever made and the DLC was spectacular. AC6 was my GOTY last year, Sekiro was my GOTY when it came out, BB was my GOTY when it came out etc. Yes, it's subjective to each individual but when their output overall has *objectively* been of the highest caliber then again, they've earned that trust.

Would I have preferred a BB remake/sequel or new IP? Absolutely but again, I know they have other things cooking. I will add that the trailer didn't have me jumping out of my seat like past trailers and the fact that it's still cross-gen is a shame but I'm there day 1 regardless.

Yes it's very personal and to each their own.

I like to support studio that makes games that I like but I'll not support them if they do stuff that I don't like anymore. I am partisan of "vote with your wallet" so we'll see the final product.
If it flops, it will send them a message. If not, they can continue on this direction and good for them. If I am part of the boat or not, is not that important.

This honestly looks like a testing ground type of thing where they can throw ideas out there and dip their toes in and gauge peoples feedback to help with future games.

Personally think it's kinda cool and refreshing to see they are still able to have fun with it an put out something that's so outta nowhere an not take themselfs so seriously.

This gives a feel of milking the setting and the Elden Ring name.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but it didn't have that insta From Software banger stamp for me.

It looks maybe a little less polished than Elden Ring, but a full-fledged multiplayer experience could be fun as hell and Fromsoft have proven themselves time and again. Day one.

Is this roguelite or survival? (Survival as in Minecraft).

If its Survival genre, that would be nuts. I would love to build my way through their twisted landscape.

If its roguelite, that would be lazy and disappointing.

I'm sure people said the same thing about majoras mask.

I personally love this. Especially in this age were AAA games take like 5+ years to make. There are so many games that i think could work so well as slightly different genres and they could make that game in a year or two but instead they always choose to spend the next 5 years doing something completely new. I want new From games and elden ring is my least favorite from game, but im still so glad they're doing this in addition to their regular projects.

What is it? Some kind of Battle royale game? Kinda looks like a f2p/mod game.

I never thought I'd say this but I just want From to make something completely different again. I loved Elden Ring but I think its sheer scale and amount of content finally more than filled my need for souls style gameplay.

It'd be awesome to see what Miyazaki and the team could do with a proper horror game... or just anything with a completely different formula.

This was made by the Shadow of the Erdtree team, aka Dark Souls 2 aka Team B most likely and just like DS2 and Shadow of the Erdtree, this is meh for me. Team B has no soul in their creations. You can easily tell when playing SotE, it's just a massive empty cookbook finding simulator. Pass for me. Waiting for the real From game. Prolly 2026.

From has given us enough. Let them reuse some assets and try a different game with low production cost. Doesn’t harm anyone.
