OLED gaming tv recommendations

Anything specific about the android OS?

I used an Apple TV for years before getting my Sony TV. I tried out the android OS and it works perfectly. I don't even use Google. I created a Google account just for the TV, set the TV to "apps only" mode, and its pretty much just like the Apple TV (no ads, etc). I use it for Plex and Youtube.
I just think its insanely slow compared to an Apple TV, and Yes i know of course the stand alone device is better, but my god even changing the input or doing the sleep timer is a pain in the ass cuz the menu is so slow. The LG os is so snappy.

And yeah youre right.
You mean samsung? I think Samsung's OS is the worst

Found an open box 77 inch LG C4 for $1600 at my local Best Buy, I'm gonna go take a look at it today. As long as the panel looks good I'll probably pick it up. Here's hoping it fits on a 65 inch stand/frame!

Hi guys my friend has a 45" Max allowance but no budget. What's the best TV at or under that size? I'm assuming it's a oled?

Samsung S90D or LG C4 both have 42 and 48 inch options. Can't go wrong with either of them. I'd recommend 48 inch if possible.

42 Lg c4 evo. No regrets especially since it was massively on sale when purchased. Retail was over 2k aud it was insane with discounts for 950.

Can he find 3 more inches to go to 48? The biggest option in that size is 42 and a 42 inch is small..
This is an additional TV to go in a small space so unfortunately no.

Thanks but unfortunately will have to be 45 inch max.

Thanks bro I'll have a look.

LG C4 is the obvious recommendation. G4 if you have a bit more money to spend.

I have a 55" G2 in my living room and I loved it so much I replaced my dual monitors for my pc with a 42" C2.

I got a LG C2 OLED tv and i love it, only thing that needs to improve is the hz on this thing, 120 is a bit low these days, 240 would be nice in a future model, will upgrade instantly.

I thought oled burn in was a "thing of the past."
Since the tv will be used primarily (like 99%) for gaming this could definitely be a concern for me.
I've been using a C2 as a monitor for a year and a half and never encountered an issue. I also use it to work from home so there are always static elements on the screen.

Just be sure not to interrupt the pixel clean when you put it on standby.

My tv died so needed a replacement. I was looking at the S90F, but saw the S90D 55" on sale for $999. I just bought it. Comes this weekend. Seems like a steal for that price. Can't wait to use it with the Switch 2. Pretty stoked to basically gotten the Switch 2 + TV (and 5 year burn in warranty) around the same price as the new model S90F.

One thing, are QD-OLED's less prone to pixels dying over time than WOLED? I had a Sony A90K 48" WOLED and the corners of that screen developed a cluster of dead pixels. The top right corner is pretty much dead, but it's hard to notice unless you get up to the screen. I didn't even use that tv harshly and it still developed dead pixels. I ended up giving it to my nephew so he could torture it to death.

I'm about to trade my Bravia LED 40 inch for a LG OLED48C4PSA.

They say OLED is the far better display of the moment and microLED is not anywhere close to become a thing right now, so OLED is the way foward.

Is there any problem for base PS5 TV settings?

I'm pulling the trigger tomorrow, had to get my buddy to help cause I'll never fit one of those boxes in my lil Toyota.
Probably end up with the 65 LGC4 but I did see a 77 Sammy for like $1700…

Im not entirely sure of what you mean butI've got a C4 since november 2024, and did not encounter problems. I tweaked a bit brightness and image colour but mostly factory settings are good. There is also a good gaming specific set of option where you can enable or disable a bunch of stuff, in addition to the common tv mode settings.

I say that because I'm in my older brother house, and he have a 50 inch Samsung QLED. For me is horrible than the base PS5 keep making the TV 'blackout' because I supouse he is changing the tv signal on fly.

And I spend a quite time tunning the TV picture settings because I find this Samsung very 'saturated' in collor space.
My guess is that I'll find the same problem with the LG C4 48 inch.

S90D is less expensive than LG C series and is pretty fantastic.

Although I am not 100% sure about the settings. Some games look perfect (RE4) while other look washed off (RE2). Also have a hard time landing on good settings for SDR content.

Any advice ?

Last years S90d had been on sale and is amazing for gaming. There is last years LG model in same price range range that has also been on sale. Reviews suggest s90 is better for gaming and lg better for tv. All I know is the s90d is my favorite tv I ever owned.

The 77 inch S90 is on sale for $1700 at BJ's, I find myself leaning towards that one. Most people seem to complain about this Tizen tv stuff, but mine will be exclusively for games anyways.
Main concern is will it fit on my current stand, which I think supports sets up to 70 inches. I guess I could use the included stand instead of my mount, but these things don't weigh shit so I'm hoping the mount will hold it just fine.

No. I just plugged it in and made sure the PS5 was showing 4k, hdr, vrr, etc. The TV has a game mode that kicks on and seems fine without changing the settings.

The C4 42"is on sale for $799. I got one last month for my PC so just got best buy to price match. I wasn't expecting to get two oled's within the last month of each other :messenger_winking_tongue:. But my tv went kaput and won't turn on. Hope the C4 doesn't develop the corner dead pixels like my A90K did.

I think RE2 is just like that.

Ok then absolutely no blackout problem on my part, it only goes black for a sec when you go from 4K content to non 4K content (the same with every 4K tv i ever had).

You have a plethora of settings if you like fine tuning the TV so you won't be disappointed by this.

Holy shit the S90 is impressive, I'm kinda blown away by the picture quality. I didn't realize my 7 year old qled was that bad, the difference is almost night and day.
I haven't touched any settings at all and my games look nuts, it's a whole nother level of detail.
Boys, I'm in love.

Have the same TV. Some games look truly great, some terrible (washed out, too much contrast, etc..). It seems that it's hard to find one size fits all settings, must dable with them with each new game.

However when it's righlty set, it's firing on all cylinders. If you want to see the full potential of OLED HDR on this thing, play RE3 or RE4 in the complete dark, it will absolutely blow you away.

Also something I did not expect as much, playing in the dark is when it really shines, it's like you've got a totally different TV

I've got a 55" LG C1 (or 2, not sure) and upgraded to a Samsung 77" S90 a couple of months ago. Always happy with LG, the reason to go with a Samsung TV this time was simply that it offers the official Philips ambilight app. Awesome TV, highly recommend it. I was actually so satisfied with it that I upgraded my monitor to a 32" Samsung G8 (G80SD) as well.

Yeah, it's nuts. Doom looks like a different game almost, hell they all do. lol, I'm doing an Xcom 2 playthrough and that shit is poppin off the screen.

Is there a screen saver setting or timer? I'm gonna get paranoid about leaving this thing on when I go out for a smoke and toke.

Most of those OLED have, in energy saving settings.

They all do because of the burning screen problems.

I upgraded from a 2016 Samsung B6, and yea, the difference is wild.

if you can afford it or are able to wait for a sale.... S95F

currently have s90d but looking to return it...daytime brightness can still be an issue depending on how sensitive you are/bright your room is
Im going to wait on the s95f to go on sale later this year/early next yr.
its incredible especially during the day. much brighter and better anti reflective screen

s90d is better than lg c4 for gaming imo
s90f is much brighter

at night, s90d is perfect

So, how's game motion plus? Is it really as good as some people claim? Do 30fps games really feel like 60fps when it's on? Cuz that could be the one thing that could make me buy a Samsung tv.

Absolutely no. Get an LG. I've got an S90C and I'm going to get a new LG sometime this year. Plus Tizen is pure shit as well

Game Motion Plus is more for reducing the 30 fps stutter. Motion is a little smoother, maybe looks like 40 fps but nowhere near 60 fps.

It's not a miracle feature.

I did not test it exhaustively, but the good news is there are not artefact at all when activating it, and it results in a light but still noticeable boost in smoothness, with less stuttering indeed and frame connecting better to one another. But it clearly does not magically turn the image in a 60 fps looking one. It's still a nice boost and I will activate it for every 30fps game, but do not expect it to be a game changer.
