Lately I’ve been wondering if my GF and I have been spending too much on weekends. It’s not unusual for us to go through $300 EACH from Friday to Sunday night. We've talked about reducing our spending, but living in LA we have too many friends who fancy themselves 'socialites' and invite us to drink/eat our quite frequently.
I'd have no problem telling them to fuck off, but she is a kinder soul who almost never flakes out on people after promising to show up.

2. Don't let your GF control how you all spend your money. They will nickel and dime you to the poor house. Gotta put your foot down on frivilous spending. Trust me on that one I learned the hard way.

3. On a good weekend probably 500 dollars but, on average about 250 to 300 and that is way more than what I should spend for what I'm getting. I want to try and get down to less than 100s a weekend when I get back to the states.

You got it right with #2. We just dissolved our joint account, and now have seperate checking accounts, and one which is solely for bill money.
She has no control over my money though, only what's spent on bills.

I don't see why spending more money on a girl than she does on me makes her a trashy woman.

I don't keep track of how much I spend each weekend but I would guess that it probably averages out to about $80 a weekend.

At this point, the cost of two cups of coffee. If I hit the bars, probably about $20-$30. I don't know what the hell you guys are dropping your money on exactly, as $100 alone is plenty for a great weekend as is.

Then again, if you live in LA, I sympathize. Last time I was there, I was nailed with $25 for cover to a club alone, and then $8 for a paltry Jack & Coke, cash only. Killer scene though, just too bad the prices kept me sober and somber.

I spend absolutely as little as possible. I live with my parents, so that helps a lot. I try never to be more than -$100 compared with the past month if I'm not working; if I am working, +$200. I try to be frugal all the time, buying used on Amazon, getting the $2.49 daily special at Subway, buying 2-liter bottles of Safeway cola for 90 cents including tax... so I could easily be spending 4x as much as I spend.

Even so, I keep searching for new ways to save money. I'm considering getting the Blockbuster Game Pass because it would be a lot cheaper than buying games that I play for one weekend, then store away, taking up a lot of precious space.. even used games aren't saving me money compared with this.

When my T-Mobile contract expires, I'm going to just get on a pre-paid plan with Verizon because that will be much cheaper and easier than shouldering a $33 bill for service I don't use.

Well my gf and I go out during the weekdays too. I am very good about saving and investing money though. I usually save 40% of my pay every pay period and put it into investments. I never buy crap like DVD, knick knacks, etc. I rarely buy games or CDs. I just don't believe in buying random shit just to have random shit. I'd rather save my money and retire early.

When we go to bars, we usually spend $40-50 between the two of us. We don't really think about what we are spending. Luckily, we are both lightweights and get drunk after 2-3 drinks max.

if i'm out and about i spend at most 10 bucks/day (1 meal). if i don't go out i'm looking at some ramen and a couple cups of yogurt, maybe some salad too. that's pretty extravagant for a lonely student though

hardly anything. but then again, i HATE going out.

if i had to average it, probably 20 bucks. thats IF i hit up the arcade and order a pizza.

but most weekends i'm working. and if i do manage a rare day off on a weekend, i sit at home and try to catch up on my gaming backlog while the gf goes off to do stuff usually.

now as to how much she spends on the weekends? probably around 100-200 just with her shopping habit. then again, she makes more than twice what i do.

Disagree, how much would someone have to pay you for your experiences? For me I'm not pissing away money if I had a good time. Now then if I caked out and then had a horrible time then yes that is pissing away money.

That being said I still agree that I'm spending too much money on a weekend.

Well the same could be said with games, movies and cds. Did you enjoy it? Then ya, you didn't waste your money on those either. At least with those, you not only get the experience with them, you have something to show for it at the end of the day and you can resell it if you choose. I'm not say how you should spend your money but I think its quite interesting how you complain about one then do something else that is just as bad if not worse with the money.

However as the day grows older I feel her getting restless as boredom starts to set in.
