This is actually a FACT. That stupid song of his back in the 80s or early 90s was on the German charts for more than 14 weeks and what a shitty song it was too.

statistics have shown East Germany has actually contributed to West germanys economic decline. Ever since the wall came down, W-G has pomped billions and billions of dollars into the eastern economy. Jobless rate in W-G is also pretty low compared to over 7% of the working eastern population who have no jobs. It will take years and billions to get the east to reach the living standards that W-G enjoys.

I half was expecting this to be that they regretted tearing down what was a big thing in Germany. Had a lot of history attached to it.
And the Hasslehoff thing, totally true. My mother doesn't love him, but she finds him strangely alluring.

That text smells like BS. I have been in germany and I have german friends and the general consensum over this is that there are some people who miss the old days and do have certain prejudices against the west, but those are mostly old farts, communists groups and whatnot.

I'd like to hear the german gaffers talking about this issue.
