Honestly I'm pretty sure the only reason Fairy Tail had female characters who were super strong in combat is so Hiro could play up the "action girl" fetish

When it comes to female characters in Jump, I'd say the high bar is World Trigger and Promised Neverland right now.
MHA has likable and competent female characters but as of now they are pretty rarely ever given a main focus. I think it's been 100 chapters now since we got anything good from Uraraka
And I guess Soma? I don't really know that series too well.

Ended right as it was going into a very exciting part too.
Go go Toga! She's one of my favorite villians in MHA and one of the characters I hope the series expands on. Plus I'm a sucker for yandere-types. You know she kind of reminds me of a certain 3-eyed character from a silly pirate comic I read...
I love her too, I just find it amusing is all.

The good news is that you can just look to Mashima's previous series, Groove Adventure Rave, for an example of his ability to write strong women without ruining them with excessive fanservice.
Julia, Rave's female fighter, is a downright thuggish brawler who manages to be the exact opposite of OP's women. She regularly beats up powerful opponents, gets beaten and mangled herself, and is involved in a pretty good romance that doesn't interfere with her image at all.
One Piece, on the other hand, treats women by totally different standards. If Pudding were male, she'd have been handled like Charloss was. Oda feels that bad men are evil, while bad women are simply misunderstood (unless they're fat, old or ugly then they can be evil too).

Yeah, her and Doublefinger are exceptions to the rule. Problem is that they fought Nami, who isn't a physical fighter, so they barely got scuffed up during the fight.
Just look at what Nami does to her own crewmates compared to Kalifa and Doublefinger. And she's supposed to be the moral compass of the group?! (She's my least favorite crewmate by far for this reason.)
The only time I can ever recall any "beautiful" woman being drawn swollen like that in OP is Cosette, and that was used for drama.
It's a pretty poopy double standard.

Nami is a massive buzzkill, she beats her own crewmates, she's greedy as fuck and never gets comeuppance for her own flaws while constantly judging others for theirs. Her fights suck and her design has gotten way worse as the series progressed (true of all women, but Nami is at the forefront of that bullshit).
Sanji is second worst. He has cool fights, but his chivalry shtick makes him trash and it's such a huge part of his character that it becomes infuriating.
Robin is pretty great when she gets screentime (which is almost never). She finds humor in the antics of her crewmates and actively plays with/encourages them rather than berating them. Also, she touched Franky's balls bare-handed, so she gets major points for not giving a fuck.
Franky is definitely a weaker character post-timeskip, but he was great in part 1. Frankie Centaur, the cola gags, getting blown up in Vegapunk's lab, and his general design all made him fun to watch. Now he's just "the robot guy."
Maybe "moral compass" was the wrong term, I'm thinking specifically of Punk Hazard when she was the one who was most invested in protecting the kids. Emphasizing her motherly instinct was really bizarre and felt totally unearned.

Nami has never been the moral compass of the group, she just occasionally has moments where she's sympathetic towards individuals. And it goes without saying that kids would be an easy way to target said sympathy. Not like she's ever been portrayed as being completely heartless, so I don't exactly see how it is unearned.
Not gonna get into the whole beating them as it is this trope we're all familiar that is mined for harmless humor but is ultimately weird in hindsight, but generally speaking, they do ask for it with their antics, so I don't really hold it against her.
As for her personality, I mean, that's why I love her personally, from her never-ending greed, to how she casually takes advantage of numerous characters over the years. She's one of those characters that would be a nightmare in real life I suppose, but is very entertaining as a fictional character.
