Main character is cringe as fuck. Hard pass

Thanks for Onimusha 2 though! Hopefully next up is 3 remastered.

Wasn't expecting that environmental combat but I'll take it, I'm assuming they are using the RE Engine, collisions look similar to Dragon's Dogma 2.

Until I see a Stamina bar I'm not calling it a soulslike, it looks more faithful to the originals than I thought.

The combat looks insanely slow and insanely boring. Onimusha combat should be faster paced with alot of movement similar to ninja gaiden but not as fast as that obviously. This was incredibly jank and incredibly below par in all honesty and didn't look fun to play at all.

Onimusha was never a fast game to begin with. Your are setting yourself for disapointment.

I like the new protagonist and the gore looks cool, but the graphic is a bit disappointing.

Combat doens't look much like onimusha but i kinda like it.

Jap VA is gonna be necessary for this one.

I must say this is the first time I've ever watched a trailer and decided instantly to only play in Japanese.

But that aside, looks fun. I hope it delivers.

Looks cool.
I like how the combat looks a bit slower and more methodical than other current games, and I love the environmental interactions in it.

English VA sounds a little flat imo. I definitely prefer the Japanese VA. The trailer was sick though!! :messenger_fire: :messenger_fire::messenger_fire:

Any thats has Japanese setting it needs to be played with Japanese voice that includes even western games with Japanese setting.

This is the best game of the show! This is going to be fun to play. I thought it was Nioh 3 at first.

The artstyle looked great which is the most important (and fast paced 60fps gameplay).

I mean, finally a japanese game about the most known japanese samurai! What took them so long? I hope they'll succeed.

I'll assume the lipsyncing will be improved, but what a weird trailer.

On one hand, it's goot cool creepy music and gritty combat. But then has a character acting and talking goofy or edgy

Looks like Onimusha will be one part DMC edgy dialogue.

Dude this looks unbelievable. It seems like the combat is very physics based and the character seems normal and funny!

I feel like I'm on crazy pills reading the negative reactions. It looks amazing to me. Loving the way that you can slice enemies apart depending on where you hit them. Using environmental objects to your advantage coupled with the slower combat looks unique. It's like if it isn't a dark edgy PC and no 10 hit combos lifting the enemy into the air to Hayabusa drop them, it sucks to people.

Shinmen Takezo.

He's kinda goofy. I'm interesting but combat looks too Soulslike.

yup, it's now official.
Souls-like lost all meaning.

first people called Kena a Souls-like, now this combat apparently looks souls-like...
it's a term that means nothing anymore.

it joins the ranks of terms like Action Adventure... used without any sense, diluted into meaninglessness sad

Environmental combat elements look pretty neat, especially when parrying the boss's blade made it whiff into other enemies.

Goofier character is fine for me, especially if they go through a good arc.

Go back to the older Onimusha games, this new one is barely slower than previous entries beyond the finisher and parrying animations. Onimusha's combat was always much slower and literally more grounded due to pretty much no aerial moves, featured very simplistic combo-ing, and focused more on defensive maneuvers + special attacks than anything in the realm of Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry's pace.

Maybe every game wants to be a Soulslike now. Considering it's a VERY influential game.

Looked pretty good to me. Not on the same level of some other top tier Capcom games but Onimusha looks to be back and will be good I think.

not a single thing shown in that trailer looks souls-like... not 1 millisecond of it.

there's no element in that combat that is even remotely related to souls like games.
in fact it looks significantly different.

it seems to have an omnidirectional parry and block, while also focusing on terrain interactions, like throwing people into obstacles or using the obstacles as weapons.

and as far as I can see, there wasn't a single dodge roll or dodge move of any kind in that gameplay... dodge rolling is almost the most stereotypical Dark Souls move.

there isn't even any evidence of a lock-on, another stereotypical thing for Dark Souls.

Main character looks and acts like a shitty hobo comedian with a Katana...

Hope he matures and obtains proper Samurai attire throughout the game... doesn't look day 1 to me anymore.

I hope you're right.
