Oreshika releasing on PSVita on March 3rd/4th. Digital only,19.99 $/€

Damn it is digital. I'm still running a 4GB because I can't justify getting a bigger one because everything digital only is the sort of thing I'd be more inclined to buy if I didn't have to way more just to even play it.

At least Operation Abyss is physical and out in April, my Vita needs the love it deserves.

A little bit short notice but the price is very good like all of the recent first party Vita releases. A fact people somehow always miss.

So as a bunch of people suspected stealth release with barely any marketing prior and digital-only, I wasn't expecting it this early though.
I just hope the AU price ends up being no more than 35 dollarsish, if it is that's pretty decent after how much SSD ended up costing.

Just posting what I posted in the other thread that popped up. Digital only stuff on the Vita makes me sad because I just won't buy/play it. The lack of advertising for the game and announcing it two weeks before it releases is basically sending the game to die. I really wish Sony cared for the Vita more, it is such a nice system that they aren't willing to even push their own first party titles for.

The Vita is a niche product, Oreshika is a niche game. It's obvious that it won't get much marketing, but the low price will raise some awareness. I don't think it's sending the game to die at all. What would be the point of announcing it earlier? This way it can keep the momentum of the announcement.

And I don't understand what you're saying about digital only.

So is this like a classic RPG kinda thing where you can explore towns and dungeons? Or is it more like a visual novel with a battle system? Hard to find info, the art style looks good but I can't tell if it's one of those weird sex-fantasy games.

They could buy a super bowl ad and I doubt many more people would be excited about it. It is an incredibly niche title.

I don't know if there are 1,000 people that would buy this game that aren't because they don't know it exists. It's a insanely niche game on a niche platform.

It's classic, but it's not an 'adventure RPG.'

Refer to the Kotaku links or YT video above.

It says yes on the Japanese website :)

They should really mention this in their PS Blog posts too for awareness...I don't really run into many games that aren't PS TV compatible but the general belief is that it supports nothing, they should be doing what they can to combat that.

Vita's a great console to be digital-only on. Sony has proper accounts, and game switching in portables is a real pain in the ass. I've recently gone all physical where possible, where the price is reasonable, and honestly it kinda sucks and I wouldn't do it if I weren't buying collector's editions/had a bit of a collector's bug. With sales, the usual 10% discount on digital first party titles and PS+ Sony's done a great job of encouraging digital on Vita

Also, refusing to buy digital-only titles because you don't want to buy a memory card is kind of cutting off your nose to spite your face at this point, especially when they release at a lower price point like this.

I think this sentiment is very silly. Yes, there is always a risk with digital products being made unavailable or inaccessible later on, but the chance of a physical release of a Vita RPG originally released half a year ago was very low to start.

Yes, Criminal Girls got a physical release, but that exists in a different niche than this game.

Had a 30 minutes tour with the japanese demo the other week. After that I decided to feed my dead baby with the full game once it releases in west. Just €20? OK, that's interesting.

There are indie titles that get more fanfare than this did. I understand it is a niche title but this niche title is still a first party. I'm pretty sure we only heard about it once when they said they were going to release it in the west and it was never mentioned again until now just with a release date. Which is pretty cool and all, I just wish they'd show more love for the system.
For what I actually play on the system I can't justify buying another memory card. So I get bummed out when stuff is digital only, I'm glad that they overturned this for Freedom Wars in Europe. I'm sad I missed out on SS Delta but I guess there's always SS2
but MH4U is out now so that scratches my itch perfect
. Most of the stuff I care about gets a physical release in some form.

I think Criminal Girls got a physical release more to do with NISA than to do with Sony. But NISA is entirely built on its niche. I'm really glad Operation Abyss is getting a physical release.v

Once again, this is a game that the target audience mostly already knows about. Other people will know about it from forums, reviews and the store update. What kind of fanfare do you even want them to do?

8 or 16 GB cards aren't that expensive, and if you only bought Oreshika and a card it would be the same price as a retail release. And then you can use it for the other games you're missing out on as well.
