Oscar De la Hoya's Letter to Floyd Mayweather

Oscar outchea acting like a salty side chick floyd never called back. He always mentioning floyd but i never see floyd mention him, might be a hint to something oscar is trying to tell us.

Aren't Floyd and Oscar business partners? This is certainly just a ploy to drum up some "drama" and interest. Floyd will keep quiet for a few months and announce that he's coming back for "one more" fight sometime in 2016.

They're not business partners per say. Everything is a case by case basis. Mayweather's promotion doesn't have good relationships with other promoters. Mayweather and De la Hoya have always knocked heads but less so than Mayweather and Bob Arum.. so by default almost De la Hoya ended up working with Mayweather more often.

Oscar sounds like a bitter businessman here. If Floyd were under Golden Boy he'd be blowing him and extolling his virtues as the GOAT.

Can Oscar explain how the guy who "ran away" landed more punches AND more power punches when they fought, just like he did against Pacqiao? Was it because you are a true warrior? Or is it harder to dodge punches while wearing heels?

Oscar pulling a Trump here and pandering to the lowest common denominator of boxing fan here. And for what? Floyd retired right? Why do you feel the need to keep talking about him?

Lowest common denominator?

First Floyd instigated that response, long story blah blah. Second, i know people who love LOVE, Floyd who admits he's boring. Thats undeniable, Floyd's defense is on another level, he neutralized everyone Sentinel style. But Floyd's fights are NOT PPV material for the longest time, just wait for next day "highlights" and results.

Oscar is rich as fuck and way better looking and his fights were better so basically he wins. Yes, Floyd's "richer" but its an irrelevant difference.

Floyd's fights against Corrales, Gatti, Hatton, Marquez, and N'dou were pretty damn entertaining. In terms of ability, Floyd is in a different league, and that for me made him more exciting to watch than ODLH.

He definitely pulls off fishnets better than Floyd ever could .

Lowest common denominator=people with passing interest in boxing who know little about the sport and expect every fight to be a slugfest.

And the biggest PPV/money draw in boxing history is somehow "not PPV material"? Makes sense.

I don't know what's more shameful, this salty af letter written by a beat dog or gaffers hooting and hollering over a tired ass joke about a man's illiteracy. Impune and make fun of Mayweather all you want for who he is now. I'm sure we can all agree he deserves that for some of the distasteful and downright heinous shit he has done, but illiteracy ain't the thing to make fun of. Mocking someone's poor childhood education doesn't make you clever, just scummy.

As for De La Hoya, this letter is an embarassment. Mayweather is a perfect boxer, and he knows it. Mayweather got the sweet science down to a science, and he knows it. Mayweather fought greats and never ran, and he knows it. All this letter does is parrot ignorant, uneducated bullshit haters having been spewing for years and years because they can't come to terms with fact.

Funny thing about boxing is that it takes two to box. Mayweather may not have been an showy fighter, but he was never alone in that ring. He was only one part of the equation, but somehow his opponents' inability to overcome his style of fighting - which is boxing at its purest form; hit and don't get hit - made him solely responsible for "boring" fights.

FOH with that salty ass bullshit.

De la Hoya wasn't saying shit when Mayweather was on Golden Boy payroll till last year either but I mean you know how that goes.

Even more hilarious Mayweather's bio is still on Golden Boy Promotion's main site.
GB started sinking the moment Schaefer left. They're gripping Canelo like a life raft now.

so many salty mayweather fans in here. Bravo delahoya, bravo

Haha yeah. I don't know why he would write this though. No one talks about May anymore anywhere. Its amazing how fast he seemingly fell off the consciousness of people after that last fight. Spotless record or not, that speaks for itself. Writing this only reminds people that he exists. Not sure what he was going for other than the obvious ether.

Edit: Fuck outta here with that "Leave Floyd alone about his illiteracy" bullshit brehs. This isn't some 17 year old fresh out of an unfortunate situation. He is pushing 40 and a multi MILLIONAIRE. He still struggles to read The cat in the hat by his own fucking doing at this point. He can afford the lessons, and he can afford the fucking TIME to learn to read at this point. That shit is completely fair game. Shame on you dudes for trying to excuse the shit while you probably play grammar nazi on message boards all day.

Your link is all kinds of jacked up. So I went to Goldenboy's website and I can't find the quote that you put inside that url tag. Can you fix the link at all?

Also, I don't know why you bring up Goldenboy and Canelo when Mayweather Promotions has yet to find anyone outside of Mayweather that they can bank on dependably. Just by the nature of Goldenboy's larger roster of fighters, they should be fine. Lemieux, Matthysse, and Soto Karass have great name recognition off the top of my head. I can't think of anyone on Mayweather Promotions except for Love and Smith, who aren't as notable.

I love the salty idiots laughing like donkeys saying Floyd cant read. You all are trash really.

Its perfect though that ODHs untruthful BS letter was aimed at clowns like you all and look, you all ate it all up.

Ignorance.

Oscar has become a joke. He bitched up against Bhop, rolling around on the floor; he bitched up with that hooker in the hotel room, and he bitched up on his stool against Pac. This should be so beneath him, but he shows himself to be just as classless and immature as Floyd can be. He sucks on Rousey's dick to get her on the Ring cover; I've disliked Oscar ever since he made that statement about black fighters not being able to take body shots. Fuck him.

I think Floyd is great and all but come on, he's pretty fair game as this is some stuff he could fix by taking classes. he rich as fk.

The funny thing is, the joke about Floyd not being able to read isn't even true. But the ignorant will latch on to anything that shows those they dislike in an unfavorable light.

Ahh the Mayweather thread. A great opportunity as always for self proclaimed boxing experts to expound his mastery of the sweet science, while the unwashed masses just want to see a fight. Everyone wins.

Kudos to Oscar. He speaks the truth. That is the one thing I admired most about Oscar was he was never afraid of a fight while PBF was. I applaud him for this article and it'll keep Playboy in business one month longer now post naked women.

lol, Oscar himself said Canelo was ''ready'' and he gave him the BLUEPRINT for victory. If Floyd had told dude he was too young and had to drop too much then Oscar would say he was ''dodging''

Also I hear Floyd has trouble reading! Boom, I totally got him there!
Yup. I remember that buildup clearly. lol

But we can get behind a guy with years and years substance abuse and gambling problems though right? GTFO here with that weak shit. I don't concern myself with the personal lives of people. Let's focus on the BS about Mayweather the boxer, k?

BINGO. Its hilarious to see the clowns in this topic spew nonsense.

This is extra hilarious and proves exactly what I said on how you can immediately spot someone who doesnt know a goddamn thing about what they're talking about. Good show.

This is an old, old list, but an ESPN writer pegged him at #48; I was giving him extra credit.

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/greatest/featureVideo?page=greatest4150

Incidentally, another guy on a boxing forum I frequent made a top 100 list and has Floyd at 47.

http://www.boxing.com/the_100_greatest_fighters_of_all_time_part_six_50_41.html

Manny's at 48.

I'd give more credit to Chico, Canelo, and even old Manny. Chico was deadly and in his prime when Floyd fought him. Canelo might be one of the greats by the time he's finished. Was young and in his physical prime when he fought Floyd, had nothing for him. Manny isn't the same anymore but he's still A tier, the Marquez knockout being the only big knock against him. What happens if he beats Crawford on his way out?

I was never really sold on Corrales. Leaky defense + avg chin, good power. His best win being the Castillo yet it came down to the wire. After that it's probably Casa rematch and if that wasn't a gift then I don't know what is. Seems like people underrated him so much they've began to overrate.

Canelo biggest problems (lead feet, stamina problems) aren't going away, in fact they'll be multiplied once he officially moves up to 160 seeing as there's actual competition compared to the wasteland that is 154.

Manny's been on the decline since the Margo match, He's more A- tier at this point. It'd be nice for him to go out on a Crawford win but it doesn't change that fact that's nowhere near his prime, let alone his peak.

Castillo knows.

Shhh, we don't talk about that first fight.

I missed that one. Pretty funny after Hopkins curled him up in the fetal position.

And yet after his fights, you always see comments from those in the sport talk about how boring he is to watch. So these "lowest common denominators" aren't the only ones.

And yet, they kept buying, so he must have been doing something right. And I would classify people who willingly spend $60 on something they consider boring to be a part of that "lowest common denominator". Another name for them is idiots.

I agree with oscar he's absolutely right, floyd is a great defensive boxer but every single one of his fights are boring beyond tears. I won't remember any of his matches when some new flare pops up eventually.

I still say DLH more mentally quit than being really hurt. 5-6 rounds and he'd seen enough to know he wasn't gonna get the W and saw his chance to stay down.

C'mon, give the man some credit. #1 SFW of all time.

The one line i agree about is past the prime, he fought Manny way past his prime, Floyd was scared of Manny 5-6 years ago...
Not this shit again.
Mayweather signed the contract, had agreed to all of Manny's terms, 50/50 split, glove size, ring size, walkout order, weight penalty etc.
Manny did not agree to the drug testing procedures which no one else has had an issue with.

He's not and you and the rest of the clowns are showing exactly why ODH is saying these things, you all who dont know shit about boxing will gobble it up.

The fact that you say every one of his fights is boring is extremely telling because people who actually know what they're talking about will mention his many fights at lower weight classes.

You were probably "bored" because you know nothing about the sport and are just some brainless hanger on bandwagoner parroting what other non-knowledgeable clowns say.
