Absolutely pathetic part deux
Man, it has to be a shitty year when only one film in my top 20 made the nominations and that film was the Reader which most people think is oscar bait.
I think its a shame that he wont get an award, not that it would be better than Heath but I think he should be awarded for his brilliant role.Phloxy said:I think Robert Downey Jr gets best supporting actor, because he was a dude disguised as a dude who was playing another dude.

So picking up some suits from a garage sale = Oscar nomination!

Reality check when it didnt get a Nom? WTF. What.The.Fuck. When did people started relying on the Academy to deliver them a reality check.MIMIC said:And I'm glad that The Dark Knight didn't get a nod for best picture. It certainly was a great movie but people were getting a little too caught up in the hype (shocking, right?) Time for a reality check.

I mean, The Reader? Seriously? I don't care what people think of TDK, it was, at least, one of the best-reviewed movies of the year and certainly deserves a best picture nomination ahead of The Reader.

Also I dont think the Academy will ever reward a super-hero movie.
edit: Does anybody have a Nomination count for each movie.

Not sure otherwise. I'm sure a full list will pop up.
Thanks Eric, BrandNew.BrandNew said:I haven't counted everything, but Benjamin Button leads with 13 I think.
Shit list, as expected.

Darko said:Benjamin Button fucking sucked... it was well made, ill give it that. But the movie does not deserve all those nominations...especially best picture.

What's with the Wall*E fascination everybody? It's not even the best animated feature of the year, Waltz with Bashir takes that crown![]()

beelzebozo said:zodiac was one of the three most well-crafted movies of 2007, and possibly my personal favorite. it's sad to see something so complex, deep, and well-paced get outshone by a saccharine forrest gump redux. even if that saccharine forrest gump redux has some really great moments.

Usually Academy noms are respectable even if actual winners are bunk. Guess we gotta lower the bar some more.lawblob said:Benjamin Button is the perfect example of how ridiculous the nomination process is. Gimmicky drama + neato special effects = Oscar nomination.
At this point, we shouldn't have to pretend that dramas are inherently 'more important' films than action movies or animated films. Benjamin Button was freaking bland, the acting was ok, but nothing special, and the script almost seemed hammy at a lot of points. Its just not that good of a movie.

I feel that it should have been nominated, I thought it was a damn good movie (and I hated Forrest Gump)... but The Reader? fuck that noise.lawblob said:Brad Pitt wore makeup and squinted a lot in a Forrest Gump-ish ripoff with a mediocre script. Now thats a movie!!

Absolutely nothing, he just showed up for work. The effects should definitely win an award IMO, but Benjamin Button was a completely passive character.Darko said::lol True... though I don't dispute the best Director or Special Effects noms....everything else it doesn't deserve... and what was so great about Brad Pitts performance?

Hans Zimmer is a hack, he probably didn't even compose any of the TDK score. He has a whole shitload of people working for him who actually compose the music for him and get no credit. I'm sure that factored in somehow.jett said:edit: oh fuck not even for best score? This really sucks.
