OutRun 2 appreciation thread

OutRun 2 is a nice game and a worthy update, but I always said the home version needed an extra map to really make it worthwhile. If SP is indeed made for XBox, it would add the missing element I was looking for. As it is, racing all 15 courses in a row is a total trip.

I bought it in January; I still play it every other day, just a few races, trying to beat all the challenges. I'm almost done but some of them are very difficult. I raced the one rival girl in the right-most leg of challenges -- I was ahead the whole race, wiped out on a curve, she passed me & won! ARGH!

Unlocking and racing thru the Sega GT and Daytona 2 courses was an unforgetable experience.

Yep, Outrun 2 rocks. I've done probably 70% of the challenge pyramid so far. And was just playing some standard Outrun 2 arcade yesterday in fact.

Great game, but the online races would have been better if the traffic would have been included in the online race modes.

Everytime I pass it at a game store I am tempted to buy a XB just to play this. When at the arcades, it gets my money sooner or later.

More objects that have to interact with everyone racing = more lag...

outrun 2 rocks, screw you if you didnt buy it

That would be a screw you to a lot of people. So many people have been caught up in Sega hating and Burnout 3 worshipping that they have ignored one of Sega's recent gems. I don't want to hear people say that Sega has made nothing but crap this gen if they haven't picked this up.

Didn't Burnout 3 have traffic for the online modes? I remember one of the Outrun 2 developers stating that the traffic was up and running during the online matches, but was removed do to synching (?) problems.

I played Outrun 2 constantly on XL. But since forza came out, this has been sitting on the shelf. But for a while, Outrun was the only racing game I played online.

Preach.

I like this game a lot - nice and unpretentious racer with some really good visuals and catchy music. Very oldskool feel and nice drift mechanics. Wish it'd be a bit longer and have like 2/4 player split screen or whatnot, but it's still great.

Awesome game. Never found the challenges too hard at all, I think it was a good curve. The graphics were just lovely, music while cheesy was classic Sega stuff and the gameplay... Mmmmmmmmmm! :)
