Yea...for me, kids consist of anybody under the age of 25. Regardless of this graph...they do still rule the planet.

Switch is a great console held back by Nintendo playing it safe. Their first party output was much stronger in the previous gens (WiiU ports don't count for me). Not to mention how they abandoned VC, it's ridiculous how you can't play on Switch the VC games you bought on Wii(U) and 3DS.

Ring Fit is heading for 20 million lifetime, a billion dollar franchise right out of the gate. It's still selling for over $80 everywhere, Top Selling game on Amazon.co.jp at this very moment, Top Selling Game in Germany for June 2021, constantly in the Top 3 in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, huge in China... yeah Nintendo already have another huge franchise.
I can imagine how much they could sell if they dropped the price to $60 and provided enough supply, while dropping another surprising update
You can see by Nintendo's marketing that they are heavily invested in this game, and it's actually pretty good at what it sets out to do, anyone who has played it knows its no joke if you aren't in form. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the folks that made Wii Fit/Wii Sports yet those two games were far cheaper and bundled to the Wii in a lot of cases.. so this is actually more impressive to me

Honestly, I think the Switch at $300 was a hard sell for people until Microsoft and Sony started releasing $400-$500 consoles. That doesn't leave much choice for people wanting to spend less money. It's buy a Switch or choose not to have a console at all. I still think $300 is too expensive and I have yet to buy one myself. Heck, I'd buy a refurbished for $200 but $260 is as low as Nintendo is willing to go. What a rip.

I still think Wii could have sold so much more if Nintendo didn't drop it like a sack of shit. How the fuck did they justify stopping development on it years before Wii U even came out? Some serious mismanagement there.

Iwata deserves some serious credit for bringing in the Wii. He also deserves a lot of shit for allowing it to end with a whimper.
By 2010 Nintendo was developing titles for the Wii, DS, Wii U and 3DS. They simply weren't able to create enough 3D titles to support 4 platforms.
Is this the fastest selling ever or not?
It's passed the Wii and is now the 2nd fastest selling behind the DS.

They could have put some HD innards in it and motion plus from the start , charged an extra $75-$100 and still knocked it out of the park with the motion control novelty factor. This would have given it more legs and eased Nintendo into the HD era. Their shift to HD so late in the day and misreading the TV market completely is one of the reasons Wii U had horrible droughts

While I don't see the Switch as a kids console (I'm 33, no kids and love my Switch), I would take the age/gender distribution with more than a pinch of salt after reading the note at the bottom.

Basing it on a survey, with very few actually participating, skews the results extremely, as it is more likely that parents will simply ignore mails dedicated to their kids console, especially if they don't play themselves.
