6 Torbjorns are easy to counter (3 or so D.Va's plus other stuff)...that attitude is fine in quickplay, but in competitive people should commit I think.

I had a match where I think at least 4 of the original opponents dropped over time and someone else filled the slot. And this was just quick play

It'll probably be common for people to drop out after 1 does. They didn't add a concede option, so it's not really their fault. I wouldn't expect to win a ranked match short a player 9/10 times. And if it looks bad, I would expect other people to bounce before I do.

Wow. Envious is incredible. I am so inspired, that I unconsciously got into training mode.
If they don't add a leaver penalty, it's going to get bad. You only gain about 1/20 of a level if someone leaves on the other team, no matter how late. So, if you're winning KOTH or some other long map, the losing team will just quit with one person near the end, essentially preventing anyone from leveling up.

What they need to do first is put a lot more details into the end game screens where you see how you ranked up. They need to explain the factors of that decision. Are you even certain it's because someone left or is it because of something else (bug?). I don't recall them ever saying winning due to quitters is any different in terms of rank gains/losses.
I think it's happened multiple times where if someone leaves on the other team, the gain goes to about 1/20th of a level. I can't find it with search though.
We just won KOTH with the same group in competitive twice, and as far as I know the average team difficulty was about the same, but I gained maybe 10% of a level when 3 enemies left the very last round, and 80% of a level when no one left.

I seriously can't stand playing Competitive anymore in the 30s. I see a bunch of absolutely retarded comps and everyone refuses to change, plays like shit, and is entirely unresponsive to any coordination. How the hell am I ever supposed to climb out of this hellhole of a ranking?

I've mentioned it before but team carrying with randos in Competitive is exhausting. Just had 4 gold medals in my last game with almost 30 eliminations and still lost. And am on a 6 game losing streak, while averaging like 3 gold medals per game.

I am stuck too. My only options are waiting for season 2, or trying to find a group that trusts me to group up with them and do ranked matches. I don't think that it is worth it to grind and try, because I doubt I get out before season 2, given how random and stupid rank 30 solo que is.

3-2 so far in placements. The two I lost were complete stomps. Also if I get a gold medal for damage with Lucio then what the fuck are you guys doing...

I crawled out of my 37 placement to 41 today. It definitely was a struggle. You just have to pray for some people with situational awareness and be willing to fill any role on your team to cover for teammates that simply refuse to change heroes.
Once I got out of placements it's been much less of a shitshow. Got plopped down at 46, won 4 straight matches, and am now sitting at 48. Haven't been seeing any of the toxicity or team comp problems most gaffers in the 30's seem to see. I assume once you near 50 you start getting actual competent players.

Yeah currently sitting at 38 and good lord at these teammates. Nice to hear it starts getting better, here's hoping I can rank up quick because it's rough dealing with this

Yeah I honestly think I'm done with ranked. It's attrocias and nothing but constant aggravation. The implementation is terrible and the balancing is lacking.
I've been trying I really have but this is so bad
After a disastrous first day of competitive where I got entirely screwed in the placement games due to some of the worst teams and the koth bug ( all games lost were payloads and the 3 wins i had were all from koth maps ) I ended up at rank 35 and then on Thursday same happened again and my rank tanked even further down to 32. I was almost ready to give up but yesterday it all changed and I finally started having some good games, lost count on how many I won and finished the day at rank 39 which felt good. Mercy and Reinhardt are definately my calling and I'm glad those are the characters I played the most when the game launched as theres always need for a healer or a tank, just a shame I can't do both as I often feel I can't trust either task to anyone else 
Also had my first proper go at Zenyatta in some quick play... LOVE ME SOME ZEN! This guy is fucking badass and almost like a sniper with a bit of utility. Just wish they'd buff his heal a bit.
Had a rather amusing competitive game with Zenyatta too where we were on attack and our team had a tank, a Symmetra and a Mercy so I thought sod it, I'll play Zen and try and snipe me some Bastion's and turrets but some armchair general started typing in caps "NO 3 SUPPORTS!" so I thought ok, maybe its a bit unconventional to go with 3 supports so I'll just play a damage hero. First round of Hollywood and we couldn't break their def into the first point. We then switched and I said fuck it, I'll just play Zenyatta and armchair general began with the usual flaming... "FUCKING RETARD TEAM WITH 3 SUPPORTS"..."OMG" and then he typed the same in the open chat too where the enemy could see and some of them started "lolling" at us. Turns out 3 supports can work as the enemy couldn't get anywhere near the first point, flamerboy was awfully quiet after that, then came the coin toss and we had to defend again, which we did and we won, I got potg as Zen and flamerboy remained silent. Felt pretty good.
Were your wins games where a 1 or more players left mid game ? Because that results in less rating gain.

Got in a group all hovering around mid-30s after having people leave my team while running solo, and holy shit it's like night and day. It would be hilarious wrecking people with elementary moves like "run at people with Symmetra and watch them melt because they don't even think to shoot back" except that your team isn't much better and ends up losing the first point in OT, the start of a cascade failure that leads to losing the whole match.
It feels like with every passing day, the parameters within which Overwatch is actually enjoyable narrow.

Finally did my placement matches. Went 7-3 overall and ended with a 56. Probably would've been higher if I didn't try to roll D.Va one game.
Competitive is... ok. I like Quick Play more because the matches don't last as long.

I log in to the NA server and I get lower ping (sometimes low as 99ms which is amazing for ME). I get 5-15ms in CS:GO, but that game has servers in the friggin moon; I wish I have that ping in everything. I don't know why I didn't test all servers and stuck with the obvious EU servers that are closer to me.

I placed at 52 but playing games with other gaffers doing placement felt like a mistake, just loss after loss.
The mode is incredible in its highs and lows. Having a team synch, turning back the enemy, dominating them is incredible. Then you play a team that dominates you and its like FML.
Did have an incredible match in Hanamura that we lost. 4 rounds, went to overtime and we had to attack. We couldn't pull it off, but I feel like if we had been on defense that would have been a tough pull too. Deflating to lose after 30 min of fierce competition.

I don't think it matters what region you log into. It should be selecting the best server for you when you search for a match. Maybe it's buggy or there are low players in your area? No idea about why you'd get bad servers but in my experience I only get high ping servers when I pair with people outside of my timezone.

I doubt it. It is most likely Blizzard servers. I mean, I asked people in chat and they confirmed being in the US. Scientifically, I should get high ping in NA servers because of the distance.
After the patch, I started getting 200ms+ ping, which I don't recall getting too often before until I tried PTR.

Well, my last placement match, some dumbass left after we lost the first payload point.
I don't understand this system. Why should I be penalized because some shitbird on my team left?
If you leave a match, you should get the collective ranking loss of all your teammates piled onto your rank.

Lol, I don't know what would be the best way to deter guys from quitting but the way they have it now is not optimal.
