Jesus, it's been brutal this morning I've been the highest level in my team (43) every game, matched up against much higher levels, bad team comp, and players leaving when we could have easy wins

Yesterday I went 3-0 today so far it's 1-5, I'm going to get placed in the 40s, rip

It feels like somewhat of a worry that introducing ranked introduced more resentment rather than more fun gaming. But it may just be gaming communities that give me that impression. Personally though, the game feels different and less carefree (and I don't mean I wanna see bad play when I say that).

I definitely see way more toxicity than before ranked was introduced - some in this thread have said it's always been that bad but my experience doesn't bear that out.

So yeah, the honeymoon period is over and all the dickheads have come out of the woodwork.

Ranked has taught me that I need to learn when to call it.

Getting super tired. The voice chat is getting quiet so the energy levels are down there, too. In the game enough to be a little salty but not enough to do anything about it. Yeah, that's the time I need to own up and not try to force a win to leave on.

Dropped 3 ranks, out of the 50s, not heeding this advice.

Sudden Death is such an anticlimactic way to end a match. If both teams made it to the end in the first 2 rounds, then whoever is attacking will win SD because they've already broken through the defense once before. Conversely , if neither team made it to the first point, the whoever is defending will win SD for the same reason.

Just played some more competitive games. Here's how my rank moved after each one:

Does no-one else think this fractional rank system is silly? Even Hearthstone's stars system would be better IMO.

I'm curious to see stats about who's favored in sudden death. I'd guess almost always attackers, but that could easily be an experience bias.

I'm pretty sure that a good number of us think the rank system is dumb and kind of broken right now.

Lost a match as underdog team. Lose giant amount of progress and de-level.

Get into an even match, but enemy team manages to push the payload all the way. Lose one player near the finish on our turn to push, still manage to push it the rest of the way and win. Next is sudden death, we lose another player. Still manage to win 4v6.

Get a tiny little bit of progress on the level bar.

WTF?

Aside from the occasional shit game because of asshat team-mates or because of MM being stupid and putting me into games vs people nowhere near my meager skill level ranked is starting to grow on me after a 2nd day. It's a little better for getting even matches than the randomness of Quick Play, but it's also more frustrating to lose.

Was solo queuing last night to start, had a good game with a team of 5, who invited me to play with them. We kicked ass for a couple of hours and won more than we lost, so I got back up to rank 39. Wanted to keep going but my hands were hurting and it was 1:30am.

Ha, that was my experience last night as well. Started at 54, made it to 55, and in the end I kept bouncing between 53 & 54. until I finished on 52.

I stopped playing yesterday when we set a time of 3-4~ minutes on attack then defended for 8 minutes but lost the coin toss and the match, two games in a row. Like we were literally 4-5 minutes quicker than the other team in two different matches yet we still lost both matches because we lost both coin tosses. Who the fuck wants to keep playing after that?

It bothers me that the time is shown on the scoreboard, but not taken into consideration for tie breakers. Like, if both my team and the enemy team captured both points and got 2 points, but my team did it in less time, then that should logically be a win for my team, rather than it going to a sudden death.

Quick play has a similar problem with time in that when you're attacking, if you take less time to reach the destination/capture the points then you get less time related XP instead of more.

This is exactly what I was complaining about.

Leavers hurt the team they left from, even if they win.

It's horseshit.

Seagull said defenders are favored on Gibraltar, you have to get to the second checkpoint as attackers too, it's not that easy, you can hold the attackers on the underpass quite a while and the spawn for defenders isn't that far.

urgh every time i load up overwatch on PC it sets my refresh rate to 50hz instead of 60hz. have to manually set it every time. this has been since competitive mode was added.

I need to turn off the lizard brain part of me that continues to start Overwatch, because I basically never have fun anymore and I hate myself and wonder if I have any worth as an Overwatch player at all. How the fuck do you fall this far and keep falling? Maybe I am actually getting stupider as a player. Maybe I was never any good at Overwatch to begin with.

I kind of just want to ball up in a corner and cry.

What is a good counter to multiple Reaper teams? This has been the only comp that my team has struggled with.

Mei, Pharah, Junkrat

Soldier:76 if he can land headshots

Mei has the health to survive
I play Reaper and Mei gives me the most headache

Good Reapers are frustratingly good flankers, but I assume the first answer is "range". Like, they can't do much to a Pharah that flies (but then many other people will shoot down a Pharah that carelessly flies... I whine because I partly main Pharah and don't get to flyyyy~ much).

Interesting. Wonder how the numbers will change by map.

They've been the biggest pain in the ass on KotH maps where they can trade Death Blossoms over and over in close range. Just terrible to deal with since McCree got nerfed. They just float off whenever we get close to killing one..

Mei and Pharah are good counters. Reaper has to get close to deal any significant damage and that is bad with Mei, and Pharah of course has both high damage and range.

MCree, since he can flashbang and once again, Reaper has to get close.

Busy weekend, but just snuck in my fourth placement match, first going in completely solo.

There are no words for what just happened. Capture... lost 0-3. Playing Lucio, because... well... surely who will when we simply got to be sporting the Holy Three of Genji, Widowmaker, and Hanzo. Finished with 5 medals (4 Gold, 1 Silver).

I mean... I just dont understand how some of these guys are playing competitive, are ranked over 100... and simply have ZERO idea about how the game is played. Short matches, obviously, but easily the most frustrated I've been with the game. Wont be able to play again until tomorrow, but Im almost everyone on my friends list has busted out their placement, so I have at least 6 more until I can catch up.

May just let my cat play those or something. Haha

Yeah, I love Pharah (best remedy to an annoying Reaper or Mei) but depending on the team comp I have to switch off of her a lot. Usually it's a question of A) Is there a Bastion, Widowmaker or Soldier: 76 on the enemy team? and B) can they actually aim worth a damn? If both are "yes," then time to switch off Pharah.

Oh God yes, I've been having trouble with double Reaper comps on KOTH too. It's the only common hero stack that we struggle with.

Yep, placed at 40.5 after going 1-6 today. First proper match going in as the underdog team, we lose 3-2 after going 106-20 and I drop to 39.5 :D. I might have to resurrect the smurfmantrout account

So annoying as my individual stats stand up against people who placed at 60+ but by the luck of the draw i'm shoved way down

Added a few peeps in Battlenet via list in the OP. Trying to find a consistent group to play in the evening (eastern time). Usually start playing around 7-9pm.

Id rather deal with McCree in comp than Reaper. This is all around just terrible, but Blizz got their cash already so no skin off their back I guess.

Blizzard really overdid fan the hammer nerf. McCree used to be a great Reaper counter, now he isn't.

And in other news, I have finally clicked with Zarya. Damn she's a beast when you realize how to play most of the match with near full energy.

Yeah, we were discussing it last night and McCree was much easier to deal with in general. Reaper is going to become a huge problem.

Makes me wonder what consequences, if any, will show up once the Torb nerf hits consoles later this month. My bet is on it making it too easy for Attackers to win Assault Matches.

pre-nerf i was hoping they'd just give fth a cooldown, i think that would have been more balanced

yesss, saving people and getting big black holes is the best feeling in the game

i think my favorite plays with her are when people are running from some big aoe like hanzo ult and you press q and suck them back into it

I'm done with this game, it's become more frustrating than fun. Last game two people quit in the first match and afterwards I lose half a freaking rank. I can't take it anymore this is horrible.

63% winrate with Mercy and 67% with Lucio, overall its at 59%.
I lost 4 Ranks since I started because of the KOTH bug in the beginning and now the rage quitters. :|

I'm checking this game out. seems like the thread is turning a little negative and the honeymoon is over. Is it still worth picking up? Or is the competitive salt souring the comments now :p

It's been said before, but Overwatch is only good when playing with a full group. I haven't played solo since shortly after launch.
