Looks dope, i will probably buy it someday (not at launch as i'm busy with The Witcher 3 ATM and after that Unravel and Firewatch come out).

The walk and talk mechanics look great. I hope it works well and loads of other games take inspiration from it.

I've had my eye on Oxenfree since I first saw it back in March. Really excited to play it tomorrow.

I'd heard the name of this come up before but not seen anything. This looks great. Just a few questions (I've only watched the trailers up on steam):

Does this have any platforming/puzzles? The way it looks reminds me of The Cave and I just didn't like that, you know, it just being slow to move and grab shit to complete puzzles etc. Is this just like, one of the Telltale games where it's mostly story?

Is this episodic? Like, will I get the whole story from playing this or will I have to wait months to get the next bit of the story?

This looks cool and definitely has my attention but I just need to know if it's a "buy right now" or a "wait for all the episodes to be out and buy it in the sale because you hate waiting months and months to continue a story" kind of game.

Not episodic. I believe this is it.

Slower-paced "walk-and-talk" adventure w/ dialogue decisions, albiet, the decisions are not The Walking Dead-level heavy. "Not every choice is about mortality or how bad you f*** somebody over". Also, Alex carries a radio tuner, which is her main tool for solving puzzles. Interesting bit about the dialogue:

IGN said:
The game doesn’t take control away from you just because you’re choosing which dialogue option to respond with -- in fact, Oxenfree does not have cutscenes. You can explore the environments while still engaging in conversation, sometimes to comedic results. Wander off in the middle of an important conversation, and your friends will react accordingly, asking you what the hell you’re doing.

That sounds great. Definitely going to grab this tomorrow.

Excited but i won't buy it just now.

I like that we're getting more games with and about adolescence, especially looking forward to Night in The Woods which i think shares the same dialogue system with Oxenfree?

Love the OT, but that PS4 logo is so misleading. I wonder how long their ID@Xbox deal is for. This is easily won of my most anticipated games this year, yet I don't own an Xbox One or PC.

I only heard about this game last week, and it just grabbed my attention. The staff behind it has quite the pedigree, and teens going through teen drama (as well as ghosts) sounds like a lot of fun. Been super pumped, and the wait has been brutal. I'm relieved I only heard about it last week, otherwise I'd have pulled all my hair out in anticipation.

I only managed to play about 30 mins but what I have played really had me engrossed. Can't wait to play more when I get some time tomorrow.

I really like the idea of being able to talk when the conversation allows, whilst still moving around and interacting with things, it's not just stop/start conversations. Also the radio is a neat idea, you can tune into a tour guide channel that will tell you specific things about the island, really neat idea.

Is it open world? Hubs? Linear?

I would say conversations are not linear as there are multiple answers and you can kill a convo dead with one answer or progress with another. Kind like the more you play along the more you can find out, or not.

Main map of Edward Island shows 13 locations and so far you walk between each of them. I don't know if this island is the only place you visit.

It plays a bit like a context sensitive adventure game with interactive dialogue. You will have points of interest on screen, click on them for description and sometimes a conversation depending if you are with someone. Some locations are single screen, some are scrolling larger environments. You character can walk around some areas 360 in and out of environment. So far it's been pretty straightforward but the game may lend itself for a multiple play through for different conversations/development.

I only played a small bit before hitting bed but I'm very eager to get back to it, damn work tomorrow.

Is it mainly walking, talking, and puzzles? The description mentioning creatures and of course the similar vibe/tone to movies like ET, Super 8, Goonies, etc. kind of implies there'll be more "action" scenarios.

Looking online, some interesting facts:
- Game is about 7-9 hours
- The script was 1,200 pages

I'm curious how branching the story is. I usually only play choice-driven games like The Walking Dead and Life Is Strange once. But honestly that's because the main story in Telltale-style games tend to be pretty linear. Compared to something like Inkle's 80 Days, where you can play six or seven times and have completely different experiences each time

Really really excited for this, I've tried to keep away from trailers and coverage to go in mainly blind. Unlocked in 4 hours on Steam but no preorder from what I can tell.

Bought, debating whether to start tonight or wait for tomorrow.
Kinda don't want to see impressions, so here's hoping it's as good as I hope it to be!

Works on a OSX too

Run into an annoying bug where NPCs get stuck while climbing down walls, but besides that, 40 minutes in and I'm really enjoying it. Has a laid-back atmospheric vibe, and there are nice interactive things to do while talking and choosing dialogue at the same time. Makes the dialogue feel more natural and integrated into the gameplay. The art style is lovely

Also the mechanics are definitely there for more "action-y" moments later on. Jumping over gaps, pushing objects, items you can interact with then perform actions with
