Paramount to release UMD's

It takes time people.

Remember when DVDs were like 30-40 bucks each when they first came out. Well UMD's will start dropping in price eventually. You just gotta give it time.

DVDs weren't restricted to just one player on the market.

PSP is still in its infancy. If UMD movies keep on getting more popular I'm sure there will be a best hits movie line introduced.

A few folks in this thread keep saying all the movies are barebones.

That's not the case. Some movies have included extras.

Damn might actually have to buy "The Rock" as long as it's not in that HoFD price range.

Man that list it's getting pretty long heh. UMD's still won't officially be here though till i can buy Top Gun and Shawshank Redemption :lol.

Anyone that has the Kill Bill Vol.1 UMD, does it has the black bars on top and bottom to keep the aspect ratio of the original movie or does it fill the PSP screen completelly ?

Letterboxed

The unused pixels are missed on a movie this beautiful, but then again, it was framed for widescreen, and we're sure as spit gettin' it widescreen. Also, the black of the system and the black of the letterboxing blend in well, so after a little bit of viewing, you might not notice the bars.

No, I don't remember that, because it never happened. (unless you mean Canadian dollars)
I bought a DVD player in late-April 1997, and I was paying $19.99 mostly, with an occasional $24.99 title. No, not online, either. The first release of Terminator 2 (early dual-layer DVD) WAS a shock though, since it was hard to find for less than $29.99. Even you shopped at stores that charge full retail on everything (mall stores like Suncoast) there still wasn't anything selling for $40.

Well gee golly man, who would buy a freakin' Laserdisc? We're just hardcore like that!

BTW, I bought HoFD for $20. That's my only UMD purchase so far, but I don't have a problem buying TV show compilations.

I was there in 1997 and there definitely were $30 DVDs. In fact, go to places like FYE and Sam Goody today and you'll see that they are still getting away with charging $25-30 a DVD. Most retailers still charge $20 a DVD except for first week deals, which in my opinion, is the only week to buy the DVD.

$30 UMDs are bullshit but I'm fine paying $20 at the most. I don't watch the additional features anyway. The only time I'd steer away from a UMD is if the video quality is fucked up. Spiderman 2 was just fine in my opinion (even though the movie itself sucks ass).

I'll be a supporter of the UMD in the future, even if it means already owning the movie on DVD.
