Looking forward to spending some time with this one over the Christmas break. I put a good 90 hours into the first game.

I've spend about 126 hours in Grim Dawn but just 26 into PoE1. Anyways i hope PoE2 can turn me over.

What's a Gauntlet game?
I'm saddened at the state of the I.P. to where it has become forgotten, but this is what I'm talking about:

Ah, yeah i've heard about the game but never played it myself to be frank.
Seeing D4 as a Gauntlet game might work, though. Never played it with a controller.

I've only played D4 with a controller and it works great. I play it like a single-player game with no story. It's a good "veg out" game when I just want to press buttons and see some flashy lights for a bit.

Yes, definitely see where you coming from.

I just found out recently it's only 3 Acts of the story and limited endgame for the early access. You also have to buy a certain supporters pack to get access to it.

They never mentioned this in any of their pre release trailers. Kind of scummy from a company who're usually one of the most honest and transparent in the entire industry.

If you're ever interested in an ARPG series with puzzles, secrets, intricate level design, and fun side content, give the Gauntlet series a shot and give these two games a shot as well:

Years ago there was a subsection of ARPGs that would have these things, but with the popularity of Diablo it all slowly phased out over the years to where most ARPG devs mainly focused on the combat and the grind, and they would simply build around that instead.

Thanks, i might check Guardian of Light out when they are on Sale at Steam. That one seems to be better than Temple of Osiris.
My catalogue is big enough as it is, so thanks for that :messenger_relieved:

Fine by me. Early Access is about getting some money so they can keep working on the game. I'm happy to support their efforts and see where it goes over time.

I remember the beta of POE1. That only had 2 acts and you had to buy that too.

Path of Exile 2 looks like what Diablo IV should've been. Can't wait to play this. Love the art direction, it's in the same vein as Diablo 2: Resurrected.

D4 ultimately was good for story and such but it can't hold my attention for endgame or repeated playthroughs, especially after last epoch which is far superior in terms of builds and fun skill mechanics.

POE1 gets bland and repetitive, and too many systems layered on each other because of 10+ years of seasonal bloat. I'd still recommend it over D4 though.

POE2 looks to be more skill based and cuts away all the tedium and bloat (like skill gen sockets not being tied to gear). Also the animation, graphics, and skill modification system is far far far superior to most things out there (save perhaps Last Epoch which has entire skill trees). Also having a slower pace, hard difficulty and things like active block, make it closer to a 3rd person action RPG, which is way more my style than the zoom and boom type gameplay these tend to degenerate into. Some people literally watch YouTube while playing POE1, kinda defeats the point no? At that point just have the game play your build for you and come back in 3 hours and see what you got (if that was possible, I'm sure people would use it).

Shuhei always has a knack for having a pet game that he constantly pays attention to and boosts on Social media.

This year it was Stellar Blade, then The Plucky Squire and now this.

Oh cmon. It's early access for a free game. They don't want the general public to play this version of the game and complain about the content and lack of polish.

It is more of a beta or stress test for their dedicated fans.

It isn't scummy. You can wait for the game to release and play it then.

And that's fine. My issue is they weren't clear about it while also making huge efforts to expand their audience with all the console centric stuff they done this summer and more recently with Yoshida.

There will be console players thinking they can download PoE 2 early access and play it for free on release. All it would have taken is a small sentence at the bottom of the platforms screen at the end of their trailers / presentations.

Believe me I'm a huge PoE fan I just think their messaging especially towards casuals / console players has been extremely poor in this case.

Most people won't even see the game till it acutally releases. Or people playing POE will just wait. But don't they have a huge portion of players that actually pay for content? Either way tthey will be fine.

PoE1 was too generic, that faceroll gameplay was boring as hell. PoE2 needs to improve a lot to become a decent game.
Yep I'm not a fan of the way ARPGs have been heading in more recent times where you basically just run and everything dies around you. Slow the gameplay down and bring back the interaction and strategy required by the player.

If you have spent enough on poe1 you get "free" access to the beta, I can't remember but I think it was like the 60usd or greater support bundle from this or the last season. If you don't qualify then you have to buy the support bundle for poe2 to get in.

I'm pretty sure PoE2 is doing just that, more slowed down methodical gameplay.

I really hope they do a better job adapting poe2 to console. Poe1 with all the loot on the ground that you have to stand over just the right way just to read the stats ruined the game

Was playing poe with some friends and one used controller, end game where the screen is full of more shit than ever and he only wanted to pick up a couple of things was so funny. The other guy specced the atlas purely on whatever will make more things drop just to be a troll. Maybe the button to show loot should also bring up a cursor to use to pick stuff up on controller. He ended up sorting it out a little by using a loot filter that hid everything except what could be sold moderately easy endgame.

This game says it's going to support online for 6 players. Can anyone who has been following this game closely explain exactly what that means? Is it really going to have 6 player co-op, or is it supposed to be limited to specific modes? I've looked online for any gameplay of 5 or 6 player co-op, and I can't find anything.

You mean online i guess? it works like in Path of Exile 1 i'm sure, there are no modes, you can just add friends (or join open parties too) and make parties up to 6 players where you play the whole game just like if you played solo, just that the enemies will have more health points of course, you can trade with them etc.

Here's a video of a guy playing with some friends together on Path of Exile 1 for example.
