Not to mention command&conquer, civ 4, age of empires 2, HM the original half-life since it spawned dozens of great mods like counterstrike, team fortress, natural selection. This list is peak "what was popular last week" tasteWhat the absolute fuck? How is neither World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, Starcraft and Diablo 2 in the top 10? Are they actually retarded? Were none of them PC gamers in 90s and early 2000s? What is this list?
This isn't about having subjective opinions. It's a given that any Blizzard game from that era should be in the Top 10. We're talking about a developer whose games were such a worldwide phenomenon, they were popular enough to have their own conventions. It'd be like having a "Top 10 Time Travel Movies" and not having Back to the Future on there. This list is embarrassing.
EDIT: Their highest ranking Blizzard game is Starcraft 2 at #31.
That's what pisses me off the most. Original Starcraft games isn't there at all. Neither are Warcraft 1 and 2.
Ultima online and Everquest for me.If the ones voting really like DnD I could see it.
Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot are my top 2 all time.
Diablo 2 and Deus Ex are on the list but lower down. No C&C games at all.
I hate these lists. There's always a recency bias, and it tends to look suspiciously like the knowledge of most of the voters cuts off sharply at a certain point.
It's the best depiction of tabletop DnD in a video game, mechanics and all so to say you have to be into DnD and saying the mechanics aren't the best when nearly every RPG you play, JRPGs included, use it's rules on some level is honestly hilarious. There's a reason people are going nuts over itUltimately the greatest game ever released can't be something like BG3, you basically have to be into DnD to like it, it doesn't have the best mechanics, visuals, gameplay, story, etc etc, even if you do like DnD it's not the best in terms of mechanics or visuals, so how can you put it top?
Recency bias vs Nostalgia bias.Recency bias.
Ehhh...I think if the witcher 3 and BG3 came out the same year...BG3 wouldn't win that battle. Gamings' recency bias has gotten pretty bad.

Nah, that list would end up looking something like this: 1. Counter strike 2. League of Legends 3. Fortnite 4. Warzone 5. Minecraft 6. Dota2 7. PUBG 8. TF2 9. GTA 10. BananaPerhaps PC Gamer should've asked PC Gamers.
And they don't even System Shock 2, Deux Ex, StarCraft , Diablo 2, nor Thief on it. Authors are on crack.Persona 5 Royal one of the best PC games ever released and higher than Half-Life 2
It isnt nostalgia.I would probably take BG2 as well , but also it’s partially nostalgia. BG3 is very very good game.
Balatro
These lists would run better if they encapsulated games as a series instead of its individual titles… IMO.Bg3, Bg2 and Half Life 2 should be at least top 5. Destiny 2 is better than both Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines and KotoR 2. Kill me.
Doesn’t make sense to me, either. It would be like making a “top 10 music albums of all time” and everything on the list is from 2005 or newer. What the absolute fuck? How is neither World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, Starcraft and Diablo 2 in the top 10? Are they actually retarded? Were none of them PC gamers in 90s and early 2000s? What is this list?
