I'll absolutely put rts like aoe2, warcraft 3, starcraft, command and conquer generals, civ series to be there, these games are still very fun to play till this day, bg3 and witcher 3 deserve to be there, however that's not because how good the vanilla content is but how moddable they are, so I would put many bethesda singleplayer open world rpg in there too. Games like league, cs and dota are strong contenders too. As time goes by, I find myself more amazed by games that can still be super fun to play for years or even decades more than how good they are in vanilla state. The tremendous value that these titles offer is just absolutely mind blowing. Perhaps that's due to me having more time to play games than ever.

I wouldn’t even list it. Way too slow and clunky for my taste, everything takes forever and needs extra steps, even just jumping will have you clicking on icons and aim where to land. Spent so many hours on this expecting to finally see why everybody had it on their GOTY list. Eventually just dropped it. Not my thing.

When I think about masterpiece PC releases, Half-Life 2 is the only game that pops in my mind. Maybe Unreal Tournament 2004.

I've returned to the first two Baldur's Gate games many times. Don't feel the same way about the third.

I think the ending of Act 2 really ruined that game for me, when that ridiculous self-insert lesbian character comes barging in, bashing her girlfriend's father's head in before announcing they were going away to scissor each other immediately. Suddenly I didn't feel like I was in a fantasy universe anymore.

It's hard to argue with Baldur's Gate 3 being the best PC game. It's so well designed and the options for the approach to situations feel endless, as does the reactiveness of the world itself. I've only played around 75 hours but it doesn't feel like I've played that long.

I've definitely got problems with how jarring the introduction to Act 3 is and how hugely overwhelming it is at first, but once I just put myself on a path it became a bit more manageable. Those are personal issues though and I'm sure others loved that.

When you bring other players into the mix, there's nothing like it. Definitely an incredible game that everyone should at least try.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a great game, but I think having it in early access for so long was a double-edged sword. Sure the first act is superb, but you can clearly tell where the community feedback and paying attention to tiny details have stopped. The best game of all time should remain on the same level from start to finish.

Judging by the games merits I think it's hard for me to argue it not being at the top spot. Sure it has some problems, but looking at the product as a whole it is excellent.

I always try very hard to differentiate games that I personally like vs games that ste objectively very good.

Yet I have no doubt the game is a really good one. Not being for me doesn’t make a game bad.

That is what I tend to think when I see lists of greatest games and so on.

This also works the other way around: I had a good time with plenty of games such as AC, CoD4 and Aladdin (snes) to name a few of many. However I would never say these are among the greatest games of ALL time. Objectively speaking they just aren’t.

I just genuinely feel that a lot of journalists these days likely not have experienced PC gaming in the 90's, or at least pre-steam gaming, and so maybe these lists should be confined to era's the journalists have actually experienced.

I played BG2 a couple of years ago for first time on my retro games run. Played a whole bunch of crpgs for first time.

There isn’t anything like BG2.

I mean it is partially nostalgia. Certain things BG3 does simply better like reactivity.

But for other things I like BG2 better and doubly so for magic possibilities. Which is like I am a big fan of Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous.
