Not even in my top 30., even as a CRPG I prefer Rogue Trader more despise having a much lower budget compared to BG3.

A lot of old games being mentioned here that don't hold up today.
plenty of the listed games hold up. how are we going to talk about old games not holding up when they put the OG DOOM in top 10? That game is the definition of "doesn't hold up" if we're talking about modern standards. The list is just pure zoomer talk.Perhaps not to the people mentioning them, but I think "best ever" and "best ever based on today's standards" are two different things.
Judging by the games merits I think it's hard for me to argue it not being at the top spot. Sure it has some problems, but looking at the product as a whole it is excellent.Of all time? Hell no. Great game no doubt and deserves the love, but not best game of all time. That belongs to games that truly had an impact on the entire industry.
I always try very hard to differentiate games that I personally like vs games that ste objectively very good.Judging by the games merits I think it's hard for me to argue it not being at the top spot. Sure it has some problems, but looking at the product as a whole it is excellent.
At first I thought it wasn't worthy due to some of the issues I have with the game, but looking back at my play through I was pretty shocked at how personal the story is through the choices I made. Whilst that might appear to be smoke and mirrors and really it may just be the illusion of choice in a lot of cases, it hasn't felt that way when I've played it, which not many games has done to me before.
I agree that the top spot should be reserved for games that truly impact the industry and this definitely will. Developers were even coming out and saying that players can't expect all RPGs in future to be of this scope (or something along those lines). This is a good indicator that a game has had a huge impact and also my answer to that is 'why not?'. I'll certainly be using BG3 as the benchmark for CRPGs from here on out.
I don't care how anyone spins it, this is an incredible achievement, despite some of its flaws.
Its the same for me with soulslike Games like Eldenring. Never played it, never will play it...but I accept that this is one of the best game for people who like this kind of game.Baldur’s Gate funnily enough is one of those. I don’t play it, because I simply do not enjoy turn based combat. After a few hours I’m bored of that system and never touch it again.
My list:
Among the 100 contenders, Baldur's Gate 3 was voted the best PC game by the site. Meanwhile, Disco Elysium, last year's winner, fell to second place. Elden Ring completes the portal's Top 3.
- Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)
- Disco Elysium (2019)
- Elden Ring (2022)
- Minecraft (2011)
- Persona 5 Royal (2022)
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
- Half-Life 2 (2004)
- Balatro (2024)
- Stardew Valley (2016)
- Doom (1993)

I've almost bought this a few times on Steam. Is this like RE?Signalis ranked 69 on this list. Noice!
Yes, but old school RE with fixed camera angles. Paging tommib since I know he's a big Signalis fan.I've almost bought this a few times on Steam. Is this like RE?
Zoomers weren’t born yet when some of the best PC games were released. It does feel like the people tasked with these lists don't have a lot of context beyond the last 5-10 years of gaming. Putting games from less than a year ago on a list like that is a little absurd.
I mean it is partially nostalgia. Certain things BG3 does simply better like reactivity. It isnt nostalgia.
I played BG2 a couple of years ago for first time on my retro games run. Played a whole bunch of crpgs for first time.
There isn’t anything like BG2.
