PCGaf: 2 years after launch, who doesn't have neither ps4 nor xb1 still?

1 year after launch I see no compelling reason to get either of those systems yet.
I got a Wii U for the platforming and local co-op exclusives though.

It's been 2 years since I updated my PC and I'm still getting PS4 level graphics... nothing about the new gen interests me yet exclusive wise, so PC + Wii U + 3DS is working out great for me. Have a vita as well... but I just don't play it sadly...

Same here. No exclusives good enough to warrant my time when my backlog can warrant the rest. Might splurge on a PS4 for P5 (I will get this on Japanese release day if it kills me) or FFXV though.

I've been doing a lot of travelling and keeping too busy with university to decide that an investment in a PS4 I'll not be able to play would be worth it. Once I'm settled next August, though, I'm getting one, and buying copies of certain games in the meantime, like Bloodborne's and The Witcher 3's Collector's Editions. I'll get around to playing them sooner or later.

Haha wow it looks like every single one of us is in the same boat. PC + WiiU for the win. Until Bloodborne, the most hotly anticipated $400 game I'll ever buy.

PC only for now, but I will want KH3 and FF15 whenever they release. I also may pickup a Wii U for Zelda's release.

Missing a /s.

Have a strong PC, 2 gaming laptops and a PS4. Will pick up a XB1 at some point.

But PC only is a joke. You miss too many games.

wish it was... but as of now with a wii u and pc. not really feeling I'm missing much.

I doubt persona 5 will look much better on ps4 vs ps3. No interest in KH.

I might get a console for ff15 if that turns out good, but those odds seem pretty slim... and even then that game will probably show up on pc.

If the trend of jrpgs showing up on pc continues, then I probably might not get a console for years. Except Wii U, getting that when XC comes out.

Same here. The Wii U is great, but there isn't enough on the other consoles to warrant a purchase for me yet.

I'll upgrade my GPU before I get a new console.

I play on PC and WII U, and I will not be getting a next gen console until KH3 and FF15 comes out. I'll probably sell the system after I 100% them too.

How many years?

Still no PS4, Xbone, or Wii U for me. Planning to build a new beasty PC for myself this spring or so (if i get a lot of money from tax return then). I'm satisfied with just a PC. Was bout to buy a PS4 when FFXV comes out but I now have no doubt that FFXV'll come out for PC too, so screw PS4.

I bought a Wii U instead. Zero overlap with PC and had an amazing year of exclusives. Also cheap as hell.

I'll probably get a ps4 when they hit $250 range.

i converted to PC gaming in 2009 and never looked back. when new consoles came out, i knew i would eventually end up with them some years down the road. now ive got all 3 current consoles. never thought it would be so soon. but mk8/smash pushed me to get a wii u, MCC combined with the price drop got me to get an x1, and my wife wanted a ps4 for lbp3. %20 off at target sealed that deal. ive been happy for the most part with my decisions. destiny looks and plays like shit though, TLoUR looks ok but you can tell its a last gen game, its annoying to switch discs to switch games, ms screwed up the lb/rb buttons, and lol at multiplayer being behind a paywall. those are my complaints so far.

I have an Xbox One and PS4 (and WiiU), but primarily play on PC - I can say that there are a vanishingly small number of reasons for me to use my consoles, but that was the case even before the PS4 and Xbox One.

Can't say I would have missed out on much if I hadn't bought them.

PC, Wii U owner here.
Have tried to jump on a PS4, but it just doesn't make sense in the end from a financial point of view, the game library redundancy is huuuuge, not to mention how much more convenient a PC is than a console.

I have both and Xbox One and PS4. Got a PS4 on launch. I'm kind of regretting getting both since it's so redundant. The current Steam sale kind of reminds why I love my PC so much. I've gotten like seven or eight great games so far for less than $100.

I'm not getting either until there's a few games I'm super interested in. Xbone has next to nothing in this regard, and PS4 only has Bloodborne going for it but it's a tempting title.

PC and Nintendo is my combo. Love the Wii U.

have wiiu, will get ps4 eventually but waiting for enough games that interest me.. maybe around tax time 2015 i will get onboard.. is there a release window for street fighter 5 yet?

*raises hand* I did have a PS4 pre-ordered on Amazon, which was reinstated with free shipping after Amazon realised that people had caught on to the fact it was cancelling international orders in order to free up units for US customers, however I ultimately cancelled it in order to free up some funds for the Autumn Sale -- a decision that I still kindasorta regret, even though there have been some good deals here (Australia) lately. I still intend to pick up a PS4, which will happen circa Unch4rted at the absolute latest, but as for the X1, I can't say that it's on my radar at all at this juncture.

I don't. The PS4 just doesn't have enough good games for me to justify the purchase. Last year I bought a PS3 because it had the whole PS3 library, the PS1 classics (and disc versions), and some PS2 games. Why would I buy a new system when I still have enough good games between those 3 generations on one machine that I could in theory keep the thing in use for a long time when I'm not playing on my PC?

Why get the PS4 or Xbox One when there are more games on the PC with better graphics?

Besides if I were to get a console it would be the Wii U because it has games that I can't get on the PC.

But PC only is a joke. You miss too many games.

I could easily see how someone would be content going PC only, especially these days with more and more Japanese games arriving on the platform.

If you don't care about first party exclusives, consoles are nearly pointless to a PC gamer.

As everyone has already said, it's been just over one year.

To answer the OP, I don't. I can't afford a PS4 yet. I think I'd rather get a new Intel rig anyway, since I'm currently rocking an aging Phenom II X4.

I did get a Wii U this year, though. I couldn't miss out on Bayonetta 2.

I think this thread was a little premature, to be honest.

I preordered the white PS4 Destiny bundle during the summer but decided to bail out since there's nothing else I really need to play on the console. None of the exclusives are must-plays for me so I'm glad I decided not to purchase it.

PC + 3DS is pretty much perfect for me I think.

Just bought a GTX 760 to replace my HD 5770.

No plan to buy PS4 or XOne. The only game I want to play on them is Grand Theft Auto 5. And it is coming soon on PC. I don't appreciate console. I played the Last of Us recently on my friend PS3... The intro is like a good movie. The rest of the games was boring to me.

I own a WiiU. It is an excellent companion to my PC.

I bought a PS4 a few months after release and it hasn't got much use to be honest.

I'm primarily a PC gamer but my system is starting to show it's age a little bit so I invested in one of the new consoles yet for most games, I find myself playing them on PC still.

Funny how that works.

I always try to own all consoles so I can experience the exclusives so the PS4 is more of an investment to me rather than a play it right now console. The Xbox One on the other hand... I have zero interest until Quantum Break or Tomb Raider.

I can't decide whether to replace my GPU or save up for a completely new system though. i7 2600k, 8gb ram and SLI 660's atm. Anyone with some sage advice?

Go for a 970 or 980, whatever suits you. CPU and RAM have only made baby steps in the past few years. I still have an i5-2500k and with 8GB of RAM and my GTX780 and I can rock most any game at 60 FPS, 1440p. I feel secure for at least the next few years. Also if you don't yet have one grab an SSD if you've got some cash left, makes a huge difference in terms of perception of speed.

Have a PC and Wii U. Not getting a PS4 or Xbone till a redesign happens. By then they will have lots of games to play.

Have both, still think I could of not gotten them and I wouldn't even have noticed. Ends up pc can do everything much better and has the same games...

PC + WiiU + 3DS here. This combination of platforms is amazing as I have access to the majority of multiplatform and exclusive titles on the market.

I will consider buying a PS4 and/or Xbox One when they decide to release a game worth buying a system that is not already available on PC. The near future does not look promising though (based on planned future releases) so it may be a number of years before I end up buying one.

Not really.

I'm missing out on a lot already and I'm PC only, there's too much stuff to play as it is. I don't really need to have $400 consoles to play broken AAA titles.
