Phantom Blade Zero is "neither a Soulslike game nor a traditional action game,"

Phantom Blade Zero's creator has doubled down on the reminder that his upcoming action RPG definitely isn't a Soulslike, nor is it a "traditional action game" – in fact, he believes it could "create a new identity" entirely.

Developed by S-Game, Phantom Blade Zero puts players into the shoes of an assassin, and in a new statement from its creator (as well as CEO of S-Game) Soulframe Liang, it's acknowledged that when the game was "first announced, people thought it was a 'Soulslike.' After all, it seemed to feature interconnected maps, hidden secrets, and those sigh-of-relief checkpoints."

Furthermore, as previously confirmed, the studio reminds us that Phantom Blade Zero features difficulty options, and overall will be an accessible game for all players. The difficulties are:

  • Gamechanger (standard) — offers a balance between challenge and fun, being the ideal starting point for most players.
  • Wayfarer — the easiest mode, designed for those with little to no experience with action games, providing a more accessible and relaxed experience.
  • Hellwalker — the hardest mode, which is only unlocked in New Game+ in the full version. Here, you will face smarter artificial intelligence, reorganized attack patterns, and even completely new moves, created especially for those who truly seek an extreme challenge.

You know some of us did this right.

We did it.

Okay, so my group, we will call them, people, we loved Elden Ring.

Then your group, the hollowed, they decided to come into the threads and be like, "bwahahahaha. I hate souls likes. Stupid games. Too hard. Me old. Me not play your game. Me see you go broke."

And then I was like, "No bro, don't say that, you fuckin up, these devs, they're impressionable. You are tricking them away from our wonderful genre. You are throwing away the world."

but you was like, "I no let you"

So here we are. These devs took you seriously and now every soulslike game that comes out has some circus sign spinner out front "Not a souls like" "we are our own thing" and adding difficulty options for you ect and here we are.

Question to you. Now that they have difficulty options I bet you don't play them anyway. Correct?

Which copypasta is this?

I'm a souls nut. But even I don't get the objection to having difficulty levels in Souls games.

If they had four or five options that only adjusted how much damage your character takes, with the lowest being pretty forgiving, and the highest being one-hit-death, I don't see how that would make the games worse. Obviously if they change the design formula and start catering to casuals, that would suck. But just adjusting the damage up or down would allow them to keep the same design while opening it up to more people.

Are we really pretending us souls fans would stop playing these games in protest if they put in an easy mode? Seems like a silly argument to me. Hell, I play them exclusively offline as I have no patience for the invasion stuff. Does that mean I played on easy mode?

the brand new genre of: shitty one button half automated wannabe character action game...

at least that's how the first gameplay I saw from it looked like.

That was kind of my first impression, but the people who played it really liked it. Fextralife usually knows what he is talking about. Says its a mix between Sekiro and Ninja Gaiden

Animations and presentation are both A+. This being a Chinese game, will make it sell like crazy too. It looks better than Wu Kong

Max also likes Mortal Kombat... his opinions are very hit and miss when it comes to this.

to me the combat looks weightless and some the animations give me the impression that a lot of it is context sensitive and/or semi random...
and if there's 1 thing that kills the feel of a character action game, it's context sensitive/randomised variations in your attack, dodge and parry animations.

and again, in his video the combat still looked fucking shit. it just looks unpolished and lacks impact.

and as for fextralife... it's not a single guy, it's a company with multiple people streaming on twitch, and which is running a game wiki page.
they were infamous for viewbotting on twitch by using a loophole that allowed you to embed a tiny twitch player with auto-play enabled on every wiki page of their website, that you basically didn't even notice.
Twitch had to regulate this in response to multiple streamers pointing out what they're doing, and why it could damage not only twitch but also other streamers.

they are known for shoddy guides that they release to be the first wiki page out there, and accuracy is only a secondary goal for them.

I hope S Game release a demo of the game. The fights looks awesome and reminds me of Ninja Gaiden (Xbox). Awesome fight choreograph, brutal execution, great graphics.

You actually have full control of your character in Souls. This game looks like press X for awesome. Until I play it myself, that's what it looks like. On rails action almost.

Did he see the same gameplay videos we saw? Because that shit looked like Sekiro/Wukong. Nothing was original at all. Lmao at new identity.

Read any preview from people who played the game, you are in full control, dmc has fancy animations, tlou2 has fancy animations, etc.

Can you guys just watch a fucking gameplay before copy-pasting the usual crap repeated ad nauseam in other threads?

"Soulslike" "scripts" , jesus wept, seriously.

Looks like another ue5 slop (cit.)

Tell me the name of another ue5 slop that looks and plays like this for me to buy it.

Because this game looks awesome to me.

Anyway... People are really sensitive towards action games these days, some probably think that a game like Nightmare Creatures on ps1 is a Dark Soul rip off and challenging close combat action games didn't exist before the ps3 gen.

How Bizarre Reaction GIF
