i need to wear my glasses all the time. i'm short sighted so without them i can't see shit any further than 2 feet away from me. they get steamed up all the time with these masks and it's doing my head in. i've set up an appointment to get contact lenses and i'll be wearing them until such a time where i don't need to wear a mask. i'll still wear my glasses at home but for driving/working it'll be so good to get rid of them. i've had contact lenses before so i know what to expect.

i read there is a spray you can get to stop your glasses fogging up but not sure i can be assed with that. anyone else moved to contact lenses because of wearing masks?

I just suck it up and walk into things. Or breathe shallower.

I use disposable masks with the wire inside that can form across the bridge if your nose. I can bend it pretty snuggly to prevent most of the exhaled air from exiting upwards into my glasses, and set my glasses slightly forward on my nose. I haven’t had any issues with fogging like I did with reusable cloth masks.

In the cold my glasses fog up like crazy, but seeing as that is pretty much only outside I just pull my mask down. Inside it isn't really an issue as long as I bend the wire over my nose properly.

Mask firmly adjusted to the face. Glasses as far away from the face as possible.

Anti fogging sprays work, but hey if you're too lazy to apply it, you could also get special wipes, if that's not too much work :p

When all of this began, I already have some disposable construction masks. They usually have a stronger and larger metal nose clip than the thin wires commonly used in surgical mask (even these ones fogs up like crazy to me)

So before discard them, I detached the nose clips to use on my cloth masks. Between this and maintaining the spectacles lenses clean, no more fogging here.

Just found out recently that if I twist the bands around my ears, it tightens up the upper part of the mask and creates opens on the side of the mask, lowering to preventing the mist thing on my glasses. Doesn't work with all mask though.

Adjust the nose area, it's the only way. It's pretty shit gotta say. I have glasses for 1.5 years and I still don't like to wear them that much, so many times I simply don't. I don't mind SD image when I am just moving to reach some place.

I hope you're aware that those openings on the side of the mask render the mask useless...

Find out if you are a canidate for Lasik, and if you are... DO IT! I got Lasik done 10 years ago and went from 70/80 to 15/15. No side effects, very short recovery period of 1 week of granny shades. No more glasses, full periphial vision, major self esteem boost. No more vision clouded when I exit AC cold interiors to humid 100 degree exteriors.

They fog up a lot, especially now with the cold weather. Sometimes I try not to breathe as much and just wipe my glasses more.

I think there's probably a pretty good argument to be made that the majority of masks people wear are fairly useless to begin with, I'm not sure how much more useless a slight gap on the sides will make them.

I wear my mask firmly on my face high up almost completely covering my nose (again pressing it on firmly) then put on my glasses rather lightly so they're not so firmly placed on my nose.

you can't put a price on sparks
usually the mask will settle in a way that the fog doesnt affect the glasses, but can take a while to get there.

the bigger issue is keeping the mask on my ears and not around my glasses if i take off the mask -- don't want to glasses to come off too. that's why i use mostly the gaiter-type of mask since there's less possibility of the glasses hooking onto them

I don't know what to answer to that. Wearing non-medical cloth masks doesn't protect the wearer from catching anything, but it reduces the quantity of your aerosols inhaled by other people, reducing their risk of getting infected by your stuff. Wearing masks wrong and leaving the sides open or pulling the mask down under your nose is just fucking dumb. It literally kills people.

I stuck a load of pin holes in my mask to make it easier to breath through, my glasses still fog up a little but at least I can see what I am buying now.

Masks and glasses suck. Constantly fogged up. I just end up taking my glasses off half the time. Sure I cant see shit, but when I squint I can see a hell of a lot more than through fogged glasses.

No joke I got so fed up with glasses and masks that I got LASIK. Best investment in eye health ever loan payments aren’t terrible and subsidized by my health plan a bit. The glasses constantly fogged up in doors and even worse outside jogging which is my only source of exercise. Shooting range? Fugedaboutit.

Also had a recurring nightmare about this happening when optometrists were shut down...

You... made holes in your mask? Man, no wonder that infections are increasing. What does it help to be responsible, when most people are being idiots? :(

Just wear the mask half sn inch higher than what feels normal. Push your glasses onto your nose (and by default, the mask) to create a good seal for the mask around the edges of the nose.

You wont get problems that way. Alternatively, the masks with the horizontal metal strip around the nose area work very well for anybody with glasses.

You just need to be a little proactive with the fitting.

I use masks with a wire and place my glasses a little bit further away on the nose. Also I have tight mask for bike riding:

Which degree of manslaughter are we talking about here?

@lyra-ixi I haven’t tried this mask but it has multiple reviews claiming it solves the fogging issue. Could be the design directs exhalations out and away from the eyes?

I try not to wear any glasses in the case of wearing masks. Gets foggy too easily... so I wear contacts when I go out.
Thus I haven't been wearing sunglasses either. :(

It fucking sucks, so I use it as an excuse to have my girlfriend do most of the "we need to go here" jobs.

If/when I have to, I have a builder's dust mask type thing which is WAY better for glasses than the shitty masks most people wear.

My glasses don't fog up unless it's really cold outside, which in that situation I just wear the mask under my nose and my glasses don't fog.

I used to have contacts and they were great, but my astigmatism changing means I need different contacts now and the samples I was given were uncomfortable so I’ve written that off.

I’m getting new glasses soon so I’m paying close attention to this thread. It seems like N95 is the way to go.

I hope this is a joke 😂

I used one of them recently and the seal over the nose was perfect.

I hate it myself as my glasses constantly get steamed up due to me breathing hard in my mask and I can't see shit due to that. But I have learned to adjust the wire on the inside of my mask so that it fits really snug on my nose. Acts like a bent bridge on nose. So not much of the exhaled air can get into my glasses.

Or I just learned to breathe less harder or just pull my mask down a little once I am inside.
