Persona 2: Innocent Sin |OT| "As if your dreams would ever be fulfilled...

Mmm, I hate to bump... but the Rod Persona from the Seven Lucky Gods named Hotei is now called Budai! I'm kind of liking the fresher and more accurate lore translation the team went with for this game.

And after a bit of musing I've come to the conclusion that if Index were to bring PSP P2:EP Atlus USA might have an easy time porting it if they still have all their data from the PS1 game on hand. It would be a fairly quick edit and update process imo.

I just got home from work and found both P2:IS and P3:FES crowding up my mailbox.

My evening will be spent with PSP in hand. So excited! I think I will try it on Hard, even though it's my first time. Or should I just go Normal? Waiting for the install to finish first.

Hard in IS isn't too bad, so far. But you can change the difficulty in the option menu if you're having issues anyway.

I saw an unopened copy at GameStop, and I bought it on impulse. My poor wallet :\

But I haven't finished Persona 1 yet. Do I need to play through the first to understand the story? I didn't like P1 that much ... but I suppose I could blast through it on the easy setting.

There's not much you really need from the first game. It simply sets up the back story for characters that aren't even in your main party.

I totally suck at Poker in this. 1 pair, hold it thinking I'll at least get 2 pair, and... nada. :/

Maybe I need to get a pixie and max her out. Apparently that raises Tatsuya's luck from his default 2 to something respectable.

You should have went slots. Poker is doable though. Splitting your pairs is a good idea occasionally.

I didn't see a Slots rumor, unless it's in the mall of the third area. *shrug*

I can do decent at Poker, it's just IS doesn't "count cards" so it uses ANY card in the 51 deck even if it's already been drawn before in a few hands, thereby screwing you. Same thing with the Blackjack table, you can't count the cards there because it doesn't do it like a typical casino.

do it. i like P1.

Except the story really isn't worth it.

Maki wanted a better life than she had. SEBEC tests on Maki since she was in the hospital. Maki's wish for a better life comes true, cue Persona 1's main-route..

is there eventually a reason to accumulate lots of cash in this game? i mean, i've got $350k+ right now (finished giga mart), just from mapping dungeons, &, other than the sweepstakes, not a whole lot to spend it on...

I was laughing last night when several demons got eager over Michel being odd. But then others only seem to want to get angry no matter what I do with any of the characters. At that point it is satisfying to beat them down.

Slowly getting more into the flow.

Damn, shit just got crazy. (real spoiler)
King Leo unmasked, the Last Battalion, aliens....

I remember early in the game Tatsuya Sudou's name coming up, I think Ms. Ideal must've mentioned it - what did she say about him?

should I make an attempt to finally finish Persona 1 PSP before starting up Persona 2?

No, because Persona 1 is one of the least enjoyable PSP RPGs of the last couple of years while Persona 2 is one of the best. Perhaps THE best.

What you'll eventually find out. Keep playing, because it's a huge spoiler if I reveal it and the twist.

Er-Casino isn't like P1's where you use money to make money. Here, you use money to get coins like Pokemon and then redeem those coins for prizes.

And yes, it's worth making "money" there because there is stat increase incenses that are useful when summoning Personae to take on.

Edit: Oh, read wrong. Well... um... other than buying incense and the like in the Casino along with better equipment and a 20 minute stat boost in cafes? No, not really.

fucking Hula of Misfortune! fuck you Robin Goodfellow!

Hahaha, yeah , it's been quite the thorn in my side. I didn't know Robin Goodfellow could use it though. I'll have to put him on my kill-on-sight list.

About the money issue, if you grind some to get some of your Personas to max rank, you won't really have to worry about yen. I'm just about to start Mt. Iwato, and I've got over 1 million yen.

The high encounter rate hasn't bothered me in 8 hours or so. I end up spending about half of my battles contacting, so fighting all the time doesn't drag too much. I'm in the middle of Mt. Iwato now though, and it may change my mind :/

I didn't see a separate thread on this even after searching but has anyone received a damaged copy from Amazon. I've been hearing a lot of complaints about people who ordered the game from Amazon and they seem to blame the padded envelopes they are shipped in, which is odd because Amazon usually ships their games in padded envelopes anyhow.

Over on CAG I saw several posters who had smashed boxes. The game is in a larger cardboard box with some empty space, so it's more vulnerable to crushing than your usual game case.

Well, this game is helping to destroy my completionist personality quirk.

If you are a completionist that will have his/her day ruined by missing an item or quest, be sure you don't finish a dungeon if the target of an optional quest is inside it. I talked to a guy outside Mt. Iwato who wanted me to get him Kuchisake-onna's mask. I encountered her while I was inside the dungeon, beat her easily, and thought, "I'll just drop the mask off after I finish this place." Well, I just got done with Mt. Iwato and the guy has vanished. I hope I didn't miss out on anything too good. =\

Nah, you get items from those quests, mostly. Some good, but nothing terrible to miss.

But yeah, while you're doing sidequests you have to exit the dungeon frequently. Not a huge deal, but I can see how it gets annoying.

Also got my fusion accessory, so fuck yeah.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
Anyone have a decent/high res picture for the "OST"/Mini Soundtrack Cover Art? Ripping it to my PC and I'm kinda OCD about having Cover Art to go with it.

I actually just got that reward because I was sure the guy wouldn't be there when I got out. The reward was just a few consumables, maybe 2 Beads?

I am loving that Fusion Item. I don't recall if it (the item) was in the PSX version, but the fusion listing having ???'s show up for anything I haven't discovered yet is flipping nice. :D Found a "cure all except death" revive+two heal status fusion that I think I'm going to abuse a little later on. Also found a triple fire spell that's been decimating the zombies in Zodiac.

Is this a sidequest reward? If you're in Zodiac, sounds like I missed it.

It's in Mu Casino. You have to get the coins. If you're in Zodiac just back out and go to the casino.

It most certainly was not.

Not to stir up drama, but in case anyone was wondering:

As has been the case with other similar games and their custom content features, a number of challenges—technical and otherwise—prevented the inclusion of the basic creation/customization functionality within the Climax Theatre for the North American release of Persona 2: Innocent Sin for PSP System.

I assume it's because of concerns over potentially offensive user-created content, like with Disgaea 4.

So apparently they only came out and said that because someone emailed them about it?

That's kind of shady, to be honest. At least NISA were nice enough to email people about Disgaea 4's changes. It's not like a Yakuza 3 snafu, but the dancing around of the issue is pretty effed up.

I'm willing to look past it if they bring us EVERY custom dungeon available to Japanese users.

I'd bring more people's attention to it with a thread, but that would just stop people from buying it, and I'm not sure I want that.

This, I don't honestly care about the content creation. Just the extra scenarios that are official.

I haven't activley kept up with the homebrew PSP scene, but I was under the impression that if you homebrewed it you couldn't play recent games.

Also I'm running like 5.5something GEN-D or something like that, is it easy to update to what you have?

I dont currently have my PSP with me otherwise I'd check which exact firmware i have.

I'm running 5.50 GEN-D3, and what I end up doing with games is dumping the ISO, then running ISO Tool 1.51 to "Patch Prometheus"

Last 3 games I bought were P1, P3P, and LOH:TITS, and the process worked for those, so I'm hoping it will work fine here.

And I'd have an answer for you if Amazon had shipped the game on time.

I'll get back to you on Friday when it gets here

Depending on your firmware, you may have to put in more effort, but there hasn't been anything in a while that won't simply run on CFW.
