Persona 4 The Golden and Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Screenshots

This fighting game looks hot, but despite Arc System Works being the dev behind it, I can't imagine it being fun. Terrible anime/manga tie-in fighting games for the vita scarred me for life.

This is BB team. I think this will more be a return to the 90s when we got good tie-in games like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Triple A team is Triple A team regardless of the license.

All of a sudden, the number of characters in the game changes how much it's worth?

uh, hell yes? less characters = less playtime. Capcom has spoiled us. Even Blazblue has plenty of characters.

10 is nothing...the very first SF2 game had 8.

Blazblue is good and Hard Corps is amazing...I think this will be fun as hell. Maybe not Evo worthy, but fun.
No, Arc System Works makes good games, I agree on that. It's the various "anime related fighting games", like To Aru Majutsu no Index or Shounen (I think) Sunday fighter that were terrible.

I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THIS

Blazblue originally shipped with 12 characters...

Also, less characters equals less playtime? That doesn't make any sense. Who stops playing a game because they played with everyone?

Disappointed by the lack of AA in those screens.

However since they're animating a bathing scene with Yukiko, Nanako, and Chie, I will forgive them forever. Damn you otaku-pandering bastards. You know how to win my heart.

this isn't anime, this is an RPG crossover!

Atlus x ASW = this is not going to be some rushed crap fan service. I mean, look at it. Just look at it. There's effort here :)

welp, that's more than 10.

They should have just went all out and threw in characters from all four(five?) Persona games.

10 is like..nothing these days.

the arcade version doesn't come out until next year so I'd imagine the roster will grow a little bit.

I hope Ken and Koromaru are playable in the fighting game.

What is going on in this screen? I don't remember anything like that in the dungeons.
Dunno, something new I guess.

Something to make dungeons more fun?

EDIT:
This screen shows one of the new Vita exclusive systems where you can send messages seeking help to friends via 3G and Wi-Fi when you're about to die in a dungeon. Famitsu doesn't say what happens when you send those messages.

Still not a great starting number. I'm sure they'll add more characters for the console version.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if there are 4 or 40 characters. Each individual character needs to be good.

I'll take 10 good characters over 25 shitty ones. Not to say that the game is automatically good because there are only 10 characters, but it's not necessarily indicative of quality.

Koro yes. (Though that requires Mysterious Fox to be in as well.)

Ken would be okay because I would enjoy being able to constantly kick his ass across the arena.

Since I've had so much fun with Catherine, I'll probably pick up Persona 4 when it hits the Vita (and maybe this fighting game as well).

I bet Atlus is happy that Catherine might grow their fanbase.

There's got to be more than 10 fighters in the final version, right? Because with Kanji and Yukiko confirmed by that photo too, it looks like we only have four more fighters to be revealed if it's only 10.

Damn the fighting game looks amazing.

No interest in the new character though, her design doesn't really appeal to me. Guess it'll depend on her personality.

I went the extra step to make it even better!
I laughed. The way everyone gravitates towards Chie makes me happy. If only real girls were more like her, instead of being dead and rotting in my basement...

... what?

My reaction was to cringe when I saw that that bathing shot. I think just expecting the worst due to all the moe-mania.

Though I'd forgive them if they added scenes like this for the boys too :D

Total random observation: Is it just me, or does her bag colour, especially the circle design, look like the design of the Velvet Room helper (Elizabeth, Theo, Margaret)? There's a "V" button on her hat too...

I agree. Also, if they are pulling a Blazblue (or GG) here, each character will have unique gameplay.

Both of these look fantastic. The fighting game didn't make sense to me at first, but after seeing those screens it now makes PERFECT sense. This will motivate me to not only finish P3P and P1 remake, buy P2 PSP and ultimately really really consider purchasing a Vita. Vita seems the place to be for RPGs.

Both look good, but I'm more excited for the P4 vita port (hoping it gets localized whenever the time comes, naturally).

The more I look at it the more I'm reminded of Capcom's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure game.

Makes sense, Stands and Personas are pretty analogous.

I'm kind of hoping they'll do away with the plot and just throw in as many SMT characters as possible.

But it's like, the second most popular fetish in Japan!

I hope Mari/Mary/Marie/Maria is some promiscuous girl.

Hmmm... De ja vu.

your argument would make sense if you were talking about a regular fighting game, I totally understand where you're coming from with the argument. but when the selling point is mainly that you play as characters from a licenced series then such a small selection is FAR more disappointing

FREE PRAY

Hoping for 10 characters on the arcade cabinets, and more console-exclusives when the game is released. Maybe they'll add more to the arcade build... Hmmm

I NEED DETAILS

Maybe the new girl will have some crazy parallel velvet room storyline that will work into a "The Answer"-esque epilogue, sort of like Metis in P3:FES.
