Eh, they abandoned the Philemon aspects, to an extent, in P3 and P4 and I can't imagine they'll bring them back. SMT have certain narrative currents that the "new" Persona series don't jive well with.

Though I suppose I could see there being a S.Link with an old blonde man in wheelchair...

Well Philemon's initial reason for being in Persona is kind of resolved.
He won his bet with Nyarlathotep(don't even know if I spelled that right).

And what does the new path the Persona series took have to do with the main SMT series anyway? They're allowed to be different....

Of course they're allowed to be different, the "new" Persona's narrative is extremely engaging. I'm not arguing whether or not one is better then other. The Philemon Saga, so to speak, worked just fine. The topic that was raised was whether or not "Persona 5's" story may exceed SMT 3's. The plots in the mainline SMT games were always different from the Persona series.

Just shop talk.

While I think SMT III was better then the Personas, I must admit I like the idea of the personas better then the demons of the SMTs.

I actually would like if they explored the multiple mask mythos of Persona more in P5, like had it set up so that you can choose different paths for the characters and that would affect their persona changes.

I think we've just entered the danger zone. I will play it on whatever console it comes out on. the SMT series continues to be great for me even if i did bitch about difficulty on P4(im bad at video games). Anxiously await some real info on the next in the SMT or Persona series.

DEMI-FIEND REWLZ!!!

Though it'd be kind of hard to compare a set of games that are completely cynical when it comes to all life in general, to something as optimistic as persona.

That's because you're a pussy.

Then again I guess there's a smaller chance that a persona would try to eat you. :lol

At this point I'm hoping for Wii since its clear everyone wants it on HD consoles. That way I can play it and enjoy excellent meltdowns.

I dont think a persona is an optimistic thing necessarily. Plus the persona is more interesting than the already well traveled idea of demons.

:lol I would literally stop whatever I would be doing , pop some popcorn and enjoy hours of comedy.

I didn't mean a persona is optimistic, I meant the Persona series is optimistic.

I guess the idea of summoning the manifestation of your ego is more interesting than teaming up with monsters.

I thought Demi-Fiend's name was Naoki Kashima or Shin Mana depending on the source. He really is just a blank slate.

What would be more entertaining...playing Persona 5 on my PS3 or reading a Persona 5 confirmed for Wii thread on GAF...

jk

How the hell do people know that's his official/unofficial name anyway?
That's not his name. Hitoshura is the Japanese word that was translated as 'demi-fiend' in the English version. And it's what he's referred to as in the game many times by the people/demons you encounter.

Edit:

Oh I see Hito-shura is Demi-Fiend in Japanese. After years of playing this game I just found that out, crazy.

In Japan, when you access supported sites using a cellphone, you get a totally different version optimized for cellphone browsers, sometimes with different content altogether. Like for example, the upcoming SMT: Strange Journey site has a cellphone portal in Japan, with different information than the one for PCs. It's pretty interesting!
What do those little dotty square barcode thingys do also?

Its interesting because the first time I saw the name Hitoshura was when you fight him as an optional boss in DDS. I always thought that the name or classification of Hitoshura meant a human with a demon heart/soul.

You live up to your name :D

assuming it is coming to ps3/360, what do you think would be the chances of a pc port?

last remnant was very good

I don't think Atlus has done a single port to PC...so no chance at all :lol

Hell, when was the last multi-system game they did? Baroque? And does that even count?

Maybe Persona PSP, but even that is a remake.

Being a PS3/Wii owner...I'd meltdown if that happened ._.

Judging by sales of recent games I think it's safe to say it won't be on Wii lol.

Well, Soul Hackers was on the Saturn for over a year before it was ported to the PS1. We might see something similar here where P5 comes out on the 360 first. Maybe Atlus is struggling with the PS3 hardware....

Atlus Japan has already been hiring 360 programmers. Whether that is for a multiplatform game or not remains to be seen, but at this point, it is very wise to make games multiplatform if you intend to sell them in more than one market.

I don't know, the Devil Summoner port is kinda meh. I'll rather take a Persona 2 Director's Cut at this point with both IS and EP in it.

Would definitely take that over SH as well. Still, I like the grimy atmosphere of Soul Hackers.

No PS3 programmers? That's kind of interesting. They have never really gave a shit about the western market.

Oh, they were hiring PS3 programmers too. I was just commenting on the insistence in this thread that the game will totally, without a doubt be PS3 exclusive.

It's probably for PSP.

He's right about shmups though. The 360 has every single one, and will continue to get every single one.
It doesn't have Metal Slug 7... yet...

I WANT MY TWO PLAYER, FULL SCREEN, METAL SLUG 7 D:

I would support that too. Really the only platform choices I would object to in any way are "360 (but not PS3)" and "PS3 (but not 360)" because there's no reason to restrict yourself to the 4th or 5th place system alone, because most sensible people don't own both and I want all my friends to be able to play the game, and because the fanthing preening from people who never played a Megaten game before would be insufferable.

Did you play it on Easy? Easy has full revives, makes the game much easier

Any SMT game or spinoff would be kick in the butt I need for me to save up hardcore for a PS3. Plenty of worthwhile games, but this would finally get my lazy ass to do it without a doubt. Shoot, Persona PSP is making me finally rebuy the PSP that I had to sell for rent. :( :)

Really hoping hard for SMT 4 soon, though.

My lady, who plays games a decent bit but isn't obsessive about it, found P4 to be an average level RPG on normal. Expert was a nice challenge, but still nothing gruesome.

edit: dammit, sorry for dp. was not thinkin'

No way in this universe will Persona 5 be PS3 exclusive.

How about...If it is, your avatar is Miley Cyrus for a year.
