Persona 5 Won't Be Out In North America Until February 2017

I've come to accept this. I will be playing it march or April. Need to scale back hype. Still excited but being reasonable. Horizon has priority for me now, P5 is likely 60+ hours. I wont get that done in two weeks.

How the FUCK will I be able to avoid spoilers for whole 5 months .

I swear they show final boss names on the side for recommended videos on YouTube and some bitch will spoil it in a Sonic video comment box

I just saw the social special edition. And how it's sold out already.

Why the fuck did they just screw over EVERYONE on the fucking west coast? This is infuriating

SE releasing a AAA game with genre overlap that people all over the world have been anticipating for 13 years that they will also probably ironically re-release not long after as an "international version" in Japan only with some extras and still be able to count on double dipping isn't the same thing as Atlus
(overly conservatively)
trying not to cannibalize their own sales on a franchise where they've come to count on selling more body pillows than copies of the actual game.

How would they cannibalize their own franchise when the US version gets released almost half a year later than in Japan? Do you think Japanese fans would be so eager to wait 5 months just to pay a bit less for the game?
It's not just Square that includes Dual-Audio these days, Bandai Namco, NISA or even Idea Factory manage to do that without any issues. There is really no excuse for Atlus not to.

Man...what a bummer. I'm sure that if they could get it out here by the holiday season, they would, so let's not trash the excellent Atlus localizers. You would think all these delays would allow for more localization time, but apparently not. Oh well, maybe I'll actually be able to play the PS4 version by the time it comes out...

But man, the spoilers are going to be brutal.

Um was there new info in there or something?

Now, even after all that, if you still are thinking: “Why 2017!? You promised us 2015, and then 2016! Now it’s 2017?!!!?!” Well, the biggest factor in the 2017 release date is attention to detail. When we show off Persona 5 footage at E3 next week (Next week!), I think you’ll understand what we mean. We’re making sure every bit is in place. Persona has exponentially grown as a franchise, and considering that this is our first numbered sequel since 2008, ATLUS is taking its time to ensure this is the best possible experience.

Since the game actually is making 2016 in Japan, I assume they just need more time to work on the localization. That and avoiding September's elephant in the room.

I guess if you put it into perspective, it's been 16 months since PV01 and 9 months since PV03....8 more months doesn't sound too bad..i guess :(..

Hm, pretty much what I get for giving them the benefit of the doubt with previous releases (the JP and NA versions of the original P4 released five months apart as well, yet still within the same year, while it was a mere two months between the JP and NA releases for the original SMT IV in its same-year launch). Guess it'll only beat FFXV to the market in Japan now.

Do you guys think that maybe they will just not bother to release in Europe?

It seems kind of insane in 2016. But that they way they seem to be leaning.

Remember how Hashino was hoping the game could help people feeling stuck in life to find the strength to move on? Years of wait ain't helping.

I remember thinking it was kinda crazy how late in the PS2's life that Persona 4 came out, but damn, Persona 5 still coming to PS3 almost 11 years after the system launched is nuts.

I wonder what the differences will be between the PS3 and PS4 versions.

Between SMT4 Apocalypse and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, they have two big single-player JRPGs coming this year so it could be much worse. I don't mind the wait.
