You've stated all that very eloquently (and you have every right to, I'm just ribbing you, really) but I think you're making that popular, critical mistake of recognizing that the story is canon and thus taking it as seriously as a heart attack.

P4A is fun. It's a victory lap by a studio that basically created one of the strongest casts to appear in a video game. I think they have every right to poke fun at themselves and turn these characters into caricatures because in the original work - that only one that really, actually matters - they're phenomenal characters and we all know that. P4A isn't going to change that. Neither is P4D or anything else.

"But why does this stuff have to be cannon?"

Legitimate question. Probably even a good question!

But it just. Doesn't. Matter.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to sweep aside any accusations or criticisms toward something by stating it doesn't matter. I mean, truthfully, if we get down to it, nothing we discuss in here matters at all. Does that mean it's not worth discussing or criticizing? No. We all only take it whatever it is we take seriously as seriously as we want to, not necessarily because we need to.

I'm saying I think it's a mistake to take it seriously as you and a few others seem to want to. They clearly had fun making it (and still are) and most people have fun playing it.

You're free to make your criticisms and get hung up on canonicity, I just think it's a shame. Just a very "No fun allowed" way of thinking/being. And this is just me, but (while I like my serious stories and respectable fiction in games) I never wanna be like that and it bums me out when it seems like someone else is.
