Noncanon (TV show) trailer featuring Goro published as a red herring by the Phantom Thieves, go go go
The answer to this is complicated.
At least both Atlus JP and Atlus USA are consistently ignoring Goro
I haven't forgotten either! It's the best one of the interviews I did
Once again, the studying music in P5 is one of the standout tracks.
I feel like everyone always forgets these, and they're always excellent. P5's is on the same level as Specialist.
EDIT: I just saw the new confidant videos. Is it possible that the cumbersome dialogue is the result of having a different editor? As I recall, Nich Maragos was the lead editor on P4, and has now left AtlusUS. Might explain why all the sentences all contain 25% too many words.

He wasn't the only editor on P4, but he was the lead editor.I think it's certainly a factor, but as others have pointed out in this thread, I don't think it's fair to say that without Nich Atlus scripts are going to be cumbersome. For one thing, he wasn't the only editor on P4. For another, Atlus have put out a lot of games without Nich that still read well. Vanilla P3 and SMT:A, for example.
Persona 4: a critique of television culture (Original here) -spoilers inside-
Has anyone here read this? Maybe not entirely on point but I think it's a neat read. It's very Japan-oriented.
After World War II, Japan ceased to be a power of first order and its standard of living became equal to or less than that of many underdeveloped countries. Simon Partner, in his work Assembled in Japan. Electrical Goods and the Making of the Japanese Consumer, states that when television was first introduced in Japan in 1953, everything seemed to point to failure. The annual per capita income in Japan was about $ 93 per year (one dollar 360 yen), while a television set cost about $ 470 (p.71). At the same time, a daily ration of rice for a family of four cost about $ 1 on the black market, while a pair of shoes could reach $ 7.50. The situation was so desperate that in poorer regions families sold their daughters in bondage, earning between $ 30 and $ 40 for them (p.72). However, in 1960, 55% of the urban population had television, and in 1964 this number reached 95% (p.140). The history of television in Japan is unique because it triumphed in an economy where it was rationally impossible for it to do so...
...As we have seen, its impossible implantation in 1953 and the spectacular growth of the industry, have turned the history of Japanese television into a unique phenomenon. The image of an old TV as the symbol of Persona 4 must be understood in this context: although encompassed under the label of "new technologies," the television is also perceived as an old demon with whom society has lived for a long time.
I'm not sure how much of a factor it is here but
He wasn't the only editor on P4, but he was the lead editor.
And whoever was the lead editor on P3 is presumably gone, or at least they're not editing any more.
I can't speak for SMT4A.
I'm not sure how much of a factor it is here but
Yuuki Mishima (JP)
-lmao who the fuck is this kid
-he seems like a mega loser stalker
-he's probably gonna betray you like 100 times
-get him OUTTA my life
-I want to bully him
You know what his design makes me think of?
That OTHER Shinji. Put-upon bitch Shinji.
Also, has Sean confirmed he's voicing him? Cause we've got some wild speculation going on in the discord and that should probably be put to rest if it can...
Oh wait, yeah, you're 3 for 4, at least. It's been like a decade since I've even heard Goodson's voice that I instantly went to Izzy from Digimon and Doraemon from that weird dub a few years back. Didn't even consider Laharl or Naota from FLCL.Shinya is voiced by Barbara Goodson, actually. I think she does a pretty good job...
LEGIT SO HAPPY that my boy Sean Chiplock is Yuuki. The overlap between Trails of Cold Steel and Persona VAs is making me feel all fuzzy.
Chihaya is Sarah Anne Williams. She does a good job, but I would have killed for Mela Lee. I guess that one's too obvious, huh?
Ichiko Ohya is Amanda Win Lee, but that's obvious haha. It's a really good fit honestly.
We heard it in the first trailer ("You transferred to Shujin, correct?"). Pretty sure it's Meghan Hollingshead.Kill to listen Sae dub voice tbh
I kinda like it. It's exactly the kind of name I could see Yuuki coming up with, thinking it's genius, but it's not going to work as well if no one else calls him on it.Phan-Site...
I think that's worse than anything Teddie has done.
To be fair, though, Nich was lead editor on pretty much everything Atlus did for nearly a decade. He didn't do Record Breaker (which I'd actually say had some of the same problems P5's been showing just not as much), but he did to Etrian 2 Untold. He's been such a fixture that I'd imagine his moving would disrupt at least a few things.I think it's certainly a factor, but as others have pointed out in this thread, I don't think it's fair to say that without Nich Atlus scripts are going to be cumbersome. You kinda just described his entire character, though. Everyone beats up on him, including the party members.-he seems like a mega loser stalker

Phan-Site...

I feel like I'm blind, where does it say Phan-Site? I don't doubt you, I'm just curious.Phan-Site...

I hadn't seen this, thanks!

Yuuki Mishima is a social media savant who uncovers the alter ego of the protagonist, so he naturally decides to work for the group and create the Phantom Thieves Aficionado Website (also known as the, wait for it, Phan-Site).
Pretty sure there's a shortened version used in the Japanese game too (Ph-Ch), so I assume that's the actual English equivalent.
Huh.
That COULD be a gag just for the description (the "wait for it" seems to suggest as much)
Holy cow is that really the UI they're sticking with? They showed that date counter in their November stream but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just temporary, but they really seem to be using that. It's terrible, and to make matters worse they stretched the objective markers to cover even more of the screen because they chose such a wide font. Surely Atlus USA have some graphic designers?
The objectives themselves are also just as stiffly written as ever; "Days until Pics Leaked," and "Await the change of heart," seriously? Really starting to fear for the localization now that it's only a short ways off and nothing seems to be improving.
To me that sounds better than "Follow the situation", but that may very well be because it's not my first language.

This is some Metal Wolf Chaos shit right here.
Believe me, that sounds funky too. :/
Just... what does that even mean?
That one's real weird. The Japanese text says "事態の経過を見守れ," which I'd translate as "See how the situation unfolds" or something to that effect.
"Follow the situation" would just leave me thinking "well what the hell does that mean?" And it seems it's having that effect here too.
After a quick count it seems to be as long as "Prove your justice to society".

This is Persona Q all over again! D:
We heard it in the first trailer ("You transferred to Shujin, correct?"). Pretty sure it's Meghan Hollingshead..
I begun Yakuza 0 a few minutes ago and I'm already drawn in. The main guy, Kiryu, is walking around town and the atmosphere is amazing... I just did a fun minigame with Kiryu and it was pretty heartwarming.
I can't wait to see that from Atlus in Persona 5. Just walk around and stumble upon stuff. Pass your time away by doing goofy stuff by yourself or with your friends.

Edit: Here's a quick mockup of how I think it could be improved. If I can do this in ~10 minutes in photoshop, surely Atlus USA can put in the effort too.

I played about 3 hours into P5 and the cinematics are amazing period. Production IG did a quality ass job, especially capturing Soejima's art style pretty well because I know some of the past studios they've gotten haven't had perfect success with that. Also that game has a ton of animated cutscenes, like way more than the entirety of P3FES in the first couple hours it seemed like.
I wonder why nobody corrected the box for the US release, seeing as they almost certainly had to draw new art for it. The Japanese text isn't nearly as off-angled as the English version.
Actually, I wonder how your mockup would look if the number was on the left side?
I think they had the original art on separate layers, since on the "School-Life" page on the English site you can see the Protagonist's art from the cover, but on his own.
And yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think it looks better with the number on the left side, but I wouldn't expect Atlus USA to go that far with localizing the UI (or even be able to).
It doesn't make a world of difference, and I'd be happy with them just improving the awful current one.
Awww yeah! Very assuring to hear. Love my animated scenes and cinematography in games.
Does P5 does that cool thing where it transitions from a in game cutscene to gameplay seamlessly?

If you like good cinematography, the anime cutscenes are decent, but the in game cutscenes are miles better. The direction in them is seriously fantastic. Almost every frame is screenshot worthy - which is why it's so damn painful they disabled the share button.
Is this what happens when you don't have an Elgato?
Sounds tedious.
