Figured I would open a thread so we can discuss the demo here:

Demo is live on PS4 & XB1 in NZ.

Everybody's Golf and PES 2018 demo on the same day?

Playstation has decided they're no longer fucking around in the battle for my attention with the Nintendo Switch.

If there's no pc demo then it makes me highly suspicious of said quality of the pc version. They really don't want me to jump ship from FIFA

No demo is nothing to do with the quality. By all accounts from people who've played it it's the definitive version this year.

Lack of a demo is down to the 2013 demo being modded to unlock hundreds of teams and 45 minute matches. Since then no PC demo has been released before launch.

Seeing that PES 2018 is dirt cheap on PC right now I am definitely buying it today. So guess I'm getting all three football games (FIFA, PES, FM) this year.

There is no PC demo yet because of hackers abusing it to unlock teams IIRC

Fair play then, wasn't aware of that, cheers

since i get fifa for free every year i was really curious to give this series a chance again..but i'm a pc player and konami doesn't seem to want my money

is the pc port same engine as ps4 or last gen?
It's the exact same game as PS4/XB1 this year. No hybrid rubbish. Also includes some extra features like Nvidia Ansel, 4K resolution and 21:9 support.

Where have they said that? If you mean the demo, the reason is above. It will no doubt be out at launch or shortly after.

until last year the pc version was always the inferior one compared to the console versions, and i heard nothing about this changing this year..and the lack of a demo before it comes out is the cherry on top of that

It has been a better football game than FIFA for like 2 years now m8

Eh, what if you're not interested in the gameplay? Like, what if you're more interested in seeing official t-shirts than you are in the gameplay for example?! What does PES have for you?!

Just played about 6 matches with my son who loves Fifa and me who remembers the good old days of PES.

Animations look great and attacking feels fluid but way too easy to attack and run around people. Defending felt more like luck than actual defending. It maybe because we have not picked up how to defend yet.

The long shot is we spent more time taking on players than passing as it was more likely we would lose the ball with a pass.

The Grounds and Crowds looked great, Faces looked good to pretty awful depending on expressions and light.

I prefer a game with more build up play than what this seems to be, but we did enjoy the demo.

Dude, read the posts in this thread already. PC game is gonna be the same as on console.

It was similar on PES 2017 if you were playing against people who were bad at defending. As soon as you get the hang of it that'll stop being an issue (assuming it's like 2017).

You can use an option file with kits if you play PES on PS4/PC, otherwise just buy FIFA and be done with it. I prefer PES, but FIFA isn´t a bad game at all if the license issue is that big a deal for you.

Really happy with this.

The series has been on an upward trajectory for a few years but this is definitely a really nice refinement on 2017. The pace and general flow and control of the game feel like they've been tweaked quite nicely from 2017.

It's possible to play some really nice football here and score some amazing goals. Really satisfying.

Things I like are that it feels more rewarding to build through the middle this time, rather than go straight out to or rely on wing play. I also like that it indicates where your player switching will switch, and the visuals, stadium details, atmosphere and general presentation are perhaps the best football games have ever been.

Not sure on goalkeepers and defending though. I thought the word was that keepers especially had improved, but I won my first two games on professional difficulty 4-3 and 3-1. Normally with demos I go through a spell of drawing or narrowly losing games until I find my feet, but this feels quite easy.

The demo is okay. Plays worse than FIFA and it's not as fun, and I'm still contemplating if it is worth €28. [edit] Actually no, it's not worth €28, so I'm gonna skip it this year.

Too easy to get into the opponent's half and the CPU AI counters with 1 or 2 perfect passes almost always. It's an improvement on 2017 but it's still arcadey. Too much space everywhere and positioning is bad. Animations look better but gameplay isn't what I'm looking for. I don't know where they're taking the series with this bullshit form of football. They're also overcomplicating things in tactics when simplicity worked wonders with just arrows in the PS2 days. All these fancy words for instructions just to copy FIFA. Stop doing that shit.

What's the new Co-op mode all about, Pretty confusing to read it and what it entails? As me and couple of friends are looking at it as were all about Pro clubs mode in Fifa and EASHL in NHL so if it's similar to those game modes then consider us interested.

Also i only even play PES with the player camera and fixed player way as its way more immersive, Problem is they never allow player cam to be an option during online play so hopefully you can in 18. As it would be cool being down on the pitch and seeing your mate make a run and you manual pass it too him.

Official t-shirts is what it has unless you don't know how to work a USB stick.

Just played the demo and it was incredible. The variety in play is what makes PES special to me. I like FIFA but every match and goal is the same. This demo alone has me doing all sorts.

Ok, I was being a doubter, but I'm really enjoying the demo.

It's interesting they've slowed the game down a bit from 2017, but it doesn't feel sluggish the way that FIFA does when they decide they're going to slow down the gameplay every other year. The passing still feels zippy, but it feels like you have more time on the ball, I like that. Gameplay still feels as good as last year; slightly different but I wouldn't say better or worse. PES over the past couple of years has definitely been leaning more towards being a bit more arcade-y and fun than FIFA, and tbh I'm all for it.

The UI overhaul is nice too, it seems like Konami actually spent some time on the overall presentation for once. The new fonts look nice, I like the pastel colour scheme! Plus the grass actually being the right shade of green (don't know why this has been so hard for them up until now), the improved lighting, replays look like they're 60fps... it almost looks like a modern game now!
