The film blends reality and cinematic invention to chronicle the events surrounding the bombing that happened at the finish line of the Boston race on April 15, 2013. Investigators eventually narrowed down suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and a huge manhunt followed, with Tamerlan killed in a firefight with officers and Dzhokhar found guilty of all his charges and sentenced to death.

Peter Berg and Mark seems like a solid team.

Does anyone really want to see this?
No. Well maybe many people do for all I know. But Peter Berg ain't the director I want to see tackle this at all.

David Gordon Green has one that finished filming recently and even then I'm apprehensive.

Yeah, Third-rate Michael Bay seems like a great pick for this subject matter.

Does this movie really need to be a thing?

I also like that the poster calls out Peter Berg as the director of Deepwater Horizon.

That movie isn't even out yet!

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
this seems like a really weird idea for a mark wahlberg vehicle

Maybe he'll stomp on a minority for good old times sake.

Edit: I also for the longest time thought this movie was about the Deflategate Scandal considering the title.

This will be one to check out I've heard, mainly for the buzz around John Goodman's gritty performance as "reddit.com"

I'd rather Peter Berg gave us a sequel to the Rundown. That is still one of the Rock's most solid all around action movies. Great fight scenes, some really funny moments, and just a fun entertaining movie.

Yep. watched that again recently on Netflix or HBO (cant remember). Love it.

Don't know how I feel about this. I know Lone Survivor got some positive reviews, but when I think of "Director and actor who will handle sensitive, tragic subject matter well and respectfully," Peter Berg and Mark Things-Would-Have-Been-Different-If-I-Was-On-That-Plane Wahlberg aren't the duo that come to mind.

I'm not getting the Peter Berg hate in this thread. He has some great movies (FNL, The Kingdom) that show that he knows how to do strongly emotional scenes very well.

Don't forget Lone Survivor. The moment before the ambush is one of the most tense scenes I've ever watched.

I am kinda getting tired of Mark Wahlberg. I really did not think he was very good in Lone Survivor but maybe I just didnt like the movie.

Having read the book (book snob I know) I felt like they sort of messed up the timeline and just misfired on some of the plot.

Having seen American Sniper and 13 Hours were both better movies and Lone Survivor really had the best story of those three and had the worst movie of the three.

Regardless, Ill probably go see this. My father-in-law and I always go see these kinds of movies together. Read the book, see the movie type thing together.

EDIT: But since this is a war movie it might be different I guess. Also it makes sense that Wahlberg is in it sense this is in Boston.

i haven't seen anything from him that would indicate that he's great

Kinda agree. Pretty good maybe, but not great. His 30 for 30 on the Gretzky trade was alright but was a little on the short side and his golfing chats with Wayne were kinda lame from it.

The Rundown was good, Friday Night Lights was his best movie imo.

It feels a little soon, but I'm still interested. I like Berg and the cast seems solid. Poster is a nice homage - I was a little nervous they would with something a little stronger but insensitive like smoke behind Fenway park or something.

Wahlberg's character is a composite character so I'm not pumped about the stuff with he and his wife, but we'll see how it plays out.

I know they filmed around here - I'm hoping they didn't go to heavy on real landmarks as I am often on the actual streets in Boston and Cambridge where this took place - about 100 yards from the gas station right now actually.

dave is ok

Why does this exist?

Who wants to watch this?
Mark Walhberg

They wanted to film the Watertown shootout on the spot it actually happened and the residents said no

Where's Taylor Kitsch?

Kinda glad Tim Riggins wasn't asked to be in this trash tbh.

Boston Bombing movie starring Mark Wahlberg. Yeah that's about as uninteresting as it gets. But it's not like the actor matters too much, I'm not looking forward to the gylenhaal one either

These real life terrorist attack movies end up pretty weak and seem tacky to boot. Only one I thought was pretty good in recent memory was United 93.

I have mixed feelings on this. Hollywood makes historical movies all the time and a lot of them I quite like, but this feels way too soon to be making money off of this sort of thing.
