Yes, I have never once in my life said a racist slur in a moment of anger. My mind wouldn't even go there. I'd swear or something but it's a lot of extra steps to go to the n-word.

Listen dude, I was in your shoes. I used to be a big fan of PDP and actually defended him when he ''mistakenly'' made that Anti-Semite video. Called it a mistake, a joke taken a bit far and reported out of context.

But multiple racist ''mistakes'' creates a pattern. A pattern that says that you normalise these words, don't care about who your offending, just happens because of ''words''

Fuck that, because hatred and intolerance stems from these ''mistakes''

Ok, I didn't realize this. He's clearly an ass. Why weren't the other times in the news? The only other thing I saw was the Jew parody crap that I thought was just trying to be "edgy" comedy. I always thought he was an untalented hack and never understood the popularity.

This does not excuse PDP in any way, but some people in this thread act like everyone was raised in a liberal progressive environment and has to go out of their way and make a conscious decision to be racist. This isn't always the case, there are kids being raised in homes where this kind of talk is normal.

I was raised in a fairly racist environment, went to an all white school, church, the works. If PDP was a 14 year old kid, that might be a good excuse. But he's not. Someone in his position doesn't accidentally use racial slurs unless it's a part of his normal vocabulary and there's a 'slip.'

That's my reaction too. I will say that it takes a lot for me not to smash someone's face in for it though. Some of us just try not to give people power over us through emotional reactions. It doesn't mean we don't detest the word. I also don't expect everyone to keep their composure through that shit.

How about this ask your why your first response to come to the defence of, aand damage control for a situation you clearly know nothing about? That's not a normal first response. If a person in a Nazi costume goes "kill all jews" my first response isn't to go on a message board and say "maybe it's a halloween costume and he's saying it as a joke guys!".

The normal first response is to not saying anything and wait for a more complete picture.

It has nothing to do with changing him, or giving a word 'power' (man that is stupid as hell). Dumbasses like PDP are a dime a dozen and he has clearly demonstrated a lack of character that would be required to do what's right and learn from mistakes.

What is important is that he has a platform which he speaks to millions of kids. These kids want to belong to something and consider PDP an influential figure. They know what the n word means and that it a hateful word that should not be used under any circumstances, whether or not you or anyone else decide to give it 'power'. If PDP uses it casually when playing a game, that will influence others to start questioning "Maybe it's not so bad. Maybe I could use it, too. Maybe there is something to the hatred behind the slur. People who criticize PDP for this must have it wrong, because I admire PDP"

It opens the door, however slightly.

People with a conscience and decency know better, it wouldn't have been said or like in Maximilian's case he would make a heartfelt apology. Now Maximilian is someone who deserves the benefit of the doubt, not a shitheel like PDP.
