Phantasy Star Online 2 Import |OT2| Item Names in English!

I thought to get an idea of the sort of gear I need, I would check out some JP level 70 RA players. Strangely, most of their weapons aren't anywhere near 700 R-Atk like my Yaminkov, yet they must be doing more damage at that level, if I go into S.Hard it takes about 5 JA One Points to kill an Oodan. Head scratcher

Build > Potentials > Actual Weapon values is the way it'll general go. Your build will give you your multipliers, your abilities, your tricks and in general define a playstyle.

Because of how much better multipliers are the potential of a weapon can really change the game or how everything is going to work. That's the likely culprit. For example, your weapon mentioned before boosts damage... if you're in the short range distance.. which outside of a few things.. you don't really want to be there. Being that most potentials are multipliers.. I'm suspecting they have something that's going to work much better. Also is your elemental bonus (the light, fire, wind, ice etc) maxed at 50? That is a significant portion of damage.

Build wise, you're aiming for something like this: (Build Suggestions / Info / Help follows, skip down to affixes if you're super confident on this.)

http://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skil...Io00000007oIn00000000IbIo0000000jdoIb0000000j

Weak Bullet at 10, non-negotiable really, otherwise you'll quickly end up on parasite lists if you're a ranger unwilling to use weak bullet. Sides, you'll murder things faster with proper usage and make your MPA go quicker. Use it and love it. Weak Hit Advance 1/2 are your main multipliers, bread and butter type of deal. Plus you should always be aiming at weak points regardless. Sharpshooter is there if you're maining RA, it's really nice. Following that is Standing Snipe which again is another solid damage increase and your main focus.

First hit I like cause I tend to user launchers for mobbing before the recent ranger buffs and end attraction. Gave a lot of hits that perfect edge to one-shot the entire group with that one launcher attack that rains explosive death from above. Cluster or whatever? Something like that. Been awhile.

Gravity Trap is extremely handy, and with Tactics Trap is a nice recharge to PP. Pulls those mobs nice and close for you to destroy. Stun Trap I use mostly for PP recharging while also nice for the occasional interrupt. While I didn't add it.. I personally use Upper Trap which has some nice advantages.. namely the stupid wheel boss and it knocks him over perfectly. Was nice for that EQ where you have to chase them down. Personal preference though.

Rare Weapon Mastery again, if you intend to main ranger, 30 points for 1 skill point is a fair trade. That leaves you with 18-ish points to play around with. Bullet Keep to let you switch to a launcher if need be for mobbing or whatever the reason. If you need more PP, Killing Bonus. Moving Snipe is a small bonus, but a multiplier if you move a lot.

That leaves you with a few points to mess around with. Only if there is really nothing else.. then move to Shooting 1 / Maxed Shooting 2. Anyway, that's just an incredibly basic build to get you started. Will easily do the jobs you need done.

(Build stuff over, moving to affixes.)

Honestly for starting out for affixing, and in the event you're not super rich, you should start basic and safe. Mizer Soul / Shooting 3 / Spirit 3 and a R-ATK Fever, such as Saint, Egg, or Noiya Fevers. I prefer Saint due to +2 PP. But it may be a bit expensive until V-day time next year. Nowadays, the numbers aren't so hot when it's easier to get 125 on stuff. However this is a relatively cheap and affordable way for newer players to get started and is infinitely better then walking around with random or nothing. Also do this for your units.

So rifles.. hmm. This'll be tricky depending on if you're premium or not, but a few off the top of my head. Let alone the drop rates in this game are kinda... vicious. ヒュリオスニフ (Hurio Sniff) 11 star is solid, インフィニットコランダム (Infinite Corundum) I've seen to good use with spamming for more attacks, メナアリス (Mena Alice) however with this one, you're looking for the potential Precision Sniping which boosts long range damage. The second potential it can have is a gunner thing. If you hit 12 star, ヤスミノコフ7000V (Yasminkov 7000V) is really nice to have. Again, pretty much my recommendations are something that has a potential that is maxing weak point damage, elemental weak point damage, or boosting one of your multipliers like standing snipe for example.

So when you do get a new assault rifle, check out its potential as it'll be what leads to the most damage and most successful. Also something else to keep in mind before I end this is what subclass are you going with ranger? Cause it's one of those classes where there's not too many good combinations with it.

When are you on? I normally play between 7-11PM eastern time (GMT-5).
Ah, that might be a problem, since I can only play after 9PM JST and there's only one day left until the maintenance...
Thanks for the offer though, hopefully we'll meet again on another server! :)

As for the game itself, I finally hit 75 on my Hunter - took me a while before I realized that 3-4 level up quest runs which take ~45 minutes are enough for one level up if you're using a 75% xp booster and a 100% tri-boost.

Yeah, I figured it was a long shot. If you're on at 9PM JST I can try to be online around then - it's a little earlier than I normally get up for work. I have to be in the shower by 10PM JST though.

Don't forget to claim your Hunter level 75 title at the title counter (to the left of the class counter). Hitting level 75 on any class earns you a permanent innate account-wide status boost.

If nothing goes wrong, I'll try to be online around 9PM, should be fine. Thanks!

And yeah, I got my title. Second in my collection, since I already had a level 75 Fighter. I think that I'll get all the other classes to level 30 for the Vita achievements and then work on Braver, since it seems to be a really fun class. My main reason for leveling hunter was having him as a sub class with Iron Will anyway (although it's still my favorite class, probably because it was my first).

Question regarding weapons - I currently have enough weird boosters to safely get anything (?) to level 10 - 1x jump straight to +7 and 3x 100% upgrade chance.
What should I do with it? I think my equipment is still +10 11* stuff with good abilities which I bought for a few millions each.
The endgame now is grinding various stones/challenge mode points, right? Although I guess I need lambda grinders to upgrade 13* or something? They were introduced after I stopped playing, so I'll have to read up on that.

Save your skip levels for grinding 13* only. You must use Lambda Grinders for 13* grinding and they're much more rare. For run of the mill grinding I'd just stick to using risk+1s and chance+10%s above +5 or so. You can get them from FUN scratch or just buying them off the visiphone.

Stone collecting is pretty much the norm, yeah... 13*s can also just directly drop themselves, but the stones assure that if you grind enough, you'll get what you were after eventually. Stone collecting is pretty much confined to the EMs; every Falz drops Neros, Profound Darkness drops Caligulas, Dio Hunar drops Ares, and Apprentice at the bottom of the Mining Base drops Pleades. The route to the current endgame weapon requires, in total, something like 200 Caligula, 100 Nero, 30 of each large Extreme Quest stone, 300 Excubes, and 5 Photon Boosters. Off the top of my head so I could be slightly off.

Have you done time attacks this week? I coincidentally have one character that hasn't done them yet.

I see. I think I only have one lambda grinder so far, but looking at the number of stones in my inventory I probably won't have to worry about that for a long while.
And no, I haven't done TACOs in ages, I don't think I remember how to do most of them, haha.

I really can't wait for personal storage and inventory size increase, especially the latter. I feel that I'm going to buy the maximum extrnsion as doon as it appears. I wonder if they'll keep the current 1500 yen for 50 slots price.

Okay, Hunter is one of the ones that's fine. Usually it's either Hunter or Braver since they bring the most as a subclass to Ranger.

http://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skil...Io00000007oIn00000000IbIo0000000jdoIb0000000j

I did a quick update and touched up on the Hunter side of the skill tree. I left a lot blank, but the most important is Fury Stance (Again your other major multiplier), the bonuses that boost it, the JA bonuses. Fury Combo can either be at 5 or 10 depending on preferences. Both work.

I added the other weapon gears, just for the sake you'll likely have to level hunter and you should learn the other weapons, before making a decision down the line if you want to ditch or keep them. Rare weapon mastery can get a point. Massive Hunter is a wonderful skill, but the other decision really comes down to the choice of either: Automated Halfmate, or Never Give up / Iron Will.

Automated Halfmate automatically uses the lowest tiered mate you have the moment you are knocked below 50% (and survive). It's a great survival tool as long as you have mates and you don't take anything that outright murders you.

Iron Will / Never Give Up on the other hand gives you a (at max 10) 75% chance to survive any hit that kills you and places you in an invincibility stat, while boosting your damage with Never Give Up.

Everyone's got their own personal preference towards this. I'm big on Automated Halfmate, while a lot favor IW/NGU. However there is one other big thing to consider and that's what you're going to do with fighter class. If you do play Fighter with Limit Break (Sacrifice max HP down to 25% for large damage bonus), Automate Halfline is going to be... well... very dangerous. Where Iron Will on the other hand suddenly looks much more appealing since most stuff is going to one-shot you.

Long story short, pick up your fury toggle and with the combined weak point hit and other weapon shots, you'll probably be doing the damage you're seeing other people doing. Least you'll be 1-2 hitting mobs rather then 5 hits to kill. Which in turn will make bossing easier.

I'm really surprised how useful the PSO2es app is:
- Being notified 15 minutes before EQ starts
- Notification an hour before an EQ starts (only if you're premium)
- Notifications upon selling items on my shop and being able to collect the money through the app
- Feeding your mag
- Getting 15k xp tickets for the daily login bonus

I used it in the past, mainly for mag feeding, but I'm happy that they increased the number of features for PSO2 players.

The game itself is so-so and the balance is really weird, since it's usually either too easy or too hard, but I'm really impressed by the companion app capabilities of this thing.
If you have the android version it also seems to be the easiest way to buy AC (if that's still a thing), since PSO2 doesn't accept non-3D verified CCs anymore.

Quick search is my favorite thing now. Between the ton of stones and grinders I got.. finally got my first 13 star weapon, a Nemesis Wand.. but hey, I finally got a 13 star so I'm happy. Thanks mobile game. Though I agree with the difficulty spike, it's all based on the RNG on what you got and who your friends are. I'd struggle badly on a boss.. then out of nowhere I get the first decent scratch card pull.. Psychowand 12 star, Imperial Pick.. noticed I had Speed Rain.. and set up a deck that rips everything about apart using an all-class early learner partisan.

..Now everyone wants to be my friend since I have the Psychowand in the main slot. Before I struggled to keep friends since my luck was so awful with good cards to put as the main.

Not a problem, I went through the same thing. Though the stances were eh, not worth it. Saw the math and tried it out and my eyes were open. Pretty much, you'll always want a DPS stance from every class. And remember you can run 2 if you do happen to move to other classes. (1 stance per each job, so like you could run Fury and Average from Hunter and Braver, but not say Fury and Guard since they're in the same class.)

Ranger/Hunter will give you a solid boost without any catches and offers you strong defenses with massive hunter and your form of protection as I mentioned earlier. Always nice not to be face-planted outside of something really really strong. Anyway, any other questions lemme know.

I've still not invested any time in PSO2es since beta, which was just really bad. Quick Search has definitely got me back on a daily login schedule though. No 13*s from it yet for me, but I've gotten 7 or 8 drops from the main game (like three from Christmas 4 alone).

Also Hasemo I think I'm going back to bed, cleared off some bingo stuff I had been slacking on (but really wish I had done this earlier since I need TD4 to clear the reverse side on my other characters oops) and I think I need the rest of my sleep now lol

Sorry for that, I'm still on a 4 hour sleep schedule because of my jetlag and I fell asleep upon touching the bed after coming back from work. Hopefully we met again on another server someday.

I got quite a lot of 9* from PSO2es, but since it's all junk anyway, can't say I found any significant drops.

If you actually play PSO2es you should be on the lookout for Soul Receptor affixes on your stuff. Those are largely unobtainable otherwise and sell for very high prices if four slots or more (quick search has crashed the market for three slot). Possibly Modulator too; not certain what is in es's drop table.

Noted, I'll stop selling everything lower than 10 stars then.

By the way, this is my current Wired Lance. Should I aim for a new 13* one or just be happy that I have decent weapon?

If you to know what to aim for for Wired Lances, go for the Ares, Ideal, or Austere 13*. I've not done the math but i think the Magatsu trade in 12* Wired Lance is stronger than the one you currently have as well.
Is that your only weapon? If you're a Hu you should definitely get at least a partisan. A フウガナギナタ is one of the best options and gets a huge boost from crafting it up to max. Though you'd need a crit build to get the most out of it. Unfortunately, I can't really give sword recommendations since I never use swords. I basically just use partisan for everything since its so versatile.
Aside from that: 流星棍 is a great double saber. It boosts gear accumulation rate which lets you take advantage of the damage and AOE boosts that dblsbr gear gives. Coupled with chaos rizer and a crafted tornado dance you'll see results.
Other Fi stuff is best as Ideal 13* but having something is better than nothing.

If you get that Trident Crasher to potential 3 +10 it should be good enough to save you a weapon upgrade. Those knuckles are decent too. If you have enough of those Gold badges saved up you could trade them in to fill in holes in your gear. As far as twin daggers go, If you're the type of person who wants to spam Symphonic Drive, ブラディネイルス is great and cheap too.

Its really helped a lot, thanks!! When you were talking about affixes like fever/soul etc, where can i get them, just from other weapons that i find/buy?

I tried to put a soul affix onto my Yas, it has 3 slots and when i select the weapons that have the soul affix on them, that one doesnt appear in the list of abilities i can add. Does that make sense or do i need to explain it better?

You were right about the Yas potential, its +12% short range, so its crap lol, and annoying since i +10'd it and also extended to level 3 (not sure what extending even does?), i will look at those ones you suggested. I paid for premium since these guys deserve my backing, and i now have 3 10* weapon passes.

I have a few other things im not sure on but dont want to bombard you lol.

Souls are one of the types of affixes that have special rules. Normally you need at least two present just to be able to transfer, with the rate increasing with more copies. There are also two big modifiers on top of this:

  • Soul Receptors inserted into the process allow the use of one copy of a soul and increases the transfer rate to 100% (assuming no upslotting).
  • Depending on the soul there may be other affixes that boost transfer rate by being present.
Since you are working with a three slot weapon, just go ahead and buy a three slot weapon with Soul Receptor from the visiphone. As alluded to, these are common now because of PSO2es quick search.

Ok thanks! I am looking also for a 10* assault and cant find many that are more powerful than my yas on the shops. There is a flow petal +10 for 425k that has 968atk which is 114 stronger than mine, would that be a wise purchase?

Im a bit lost on how to pick a better weapon since nearly everything is lower than mine and im not sure if they would be better at +10 or not, and i cant see where to identify ots potential before buying

If you're looking for a sword, I'd recommend a Chainsawd or Elder Pain (Crafted) cause that potential is that stupidly good in letting you do whatever. ...Though it does get me into trouble a lot but it feels really good with massive hunter + automate.

Ask away, in-fact, I'd encourage it to anyone who has questions, but I'll say since you have premium your life is super easier. But there's two things to consider when you buy a weapon. Namely the purpose and what you're doing with it. For early levels, I'll just buy whatever I can +10 if not do it myself and use my mag to equip it early and on all levels till SH, you should be one-shotting regardless of potential.

But when you're looking for something long term, the potential is most important aspect. The rare exception is like.. 13 stars where sometimes the gap of atk values are so much higher it might be okay. Anyway, the Flowpetal's potential is a boost to Fury Stance, which indeed would be an overall boost to your DPS and a solid starter weapon. 467k is pretty cheap nowadays, since that's two/three-ish time attacks without other quests either. Is the potential unlocked? (Aka, is there a yellow ability like in the previous screen shots) because if not, you'll have to do that yourself to really make the weapon worth it.

Extended means the weapon is crafted, which can be a loss or raise in DPS depending on the level of crafted.. and the whole damage variance stuff happens. Which is an entirely different In-fact.. a crafted Red Rifle with an unlocked crafted potential and extended is likely best in slot until a 13 star. However, this is not an easy process, as you're going to have to at least raise the weapon to at -least- level 9 to remove most of the RNG on your damage and you'll have to run Challenge Mode a lot to get the photon boosters needed for this.. so it's something not exactly on your immediate plate. Not to mention price extending items is.. quickly over a million even for low level stuff. This'll be something for later.

Anyway, I went off subject.

Brilliant, thanks. What I did was picked a Flowpetal with slightly better stats but lower grind value for 200k, then grind it to +10, unlock potential, then got as far as +8 before RNG failed the grind over 10 times and I ran out of risk reduction/grind +5% thingys.

So, I notice that this means my fury stance is more powerful. Am I right in thinking I can switch my class from Ra to Hu, and level the Hu up a little faster to add some SP into the skill tree, then switch back to Ra again later?

I know some of these questions are probably a bit noobish, I'm not very adept at these types of things, but I'm a fan of PSO since day one on the DC and I just love these games more than anything else in the gaming world lol

Thank you for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it.
Here are my units, although I vaguely remember that I didn't want to spend much when buying them and just wanted something with a decent set bonus and atk+.

Yeah, you'll definitely want to level up Hu. You can feed it EXP tickets and COs if you don't want to actually play it. Otherwise i'd suggest finding Hu equippable Ra gear so that you can still play Ra but just as a Hu/Ra.

They made affixing alot safer and easier. Getting to +100 shouldn't be too tough nowadays. I'm still awful at giving advice on how exactly TO affix stuff so just go look up some guides. The best unit is still the saiki 11* set.

Can get to +100 quite easily with apprentice soul + modulator + desired stat III (though modulator can be quite expensive depending on the number of slots, especially expensive on units).
These affixes lack when it comes to PP though, but can use a crafted Saiki set to make up for the lack of PP (Special Ex 8 or Special Ex 10 crafted for PP, the result is 55 PP total from the set).

CH, thanks for the advice.

I can tell I haven't been playing seriously for a long time by the fact that I have no idea how exactly the crafting system works. I remember buying all the required stations for FUN, doing a few client orders and that was pretty much it, never got too deep into it.

Still, it's good that there's a bit more to the game now than just running the same quests over and over. :p

Edit:
Oh, I didn't realize that we're getting a new batch of Extreme quests. Still have over 99 passes, but I don't think I'll be able solo of that stuff, since I got quite rusty.

It's great how many good weapons are cross class now. I remember when they were first introduced and there were barely any. I still use my flower bouquet gun which I got from the beta for weak bullet when I'm playing X/Ra.

Yep. This is good advice right here.

Point taken, will have a look. I linked to es which is a good source of xp tokens. Ive been breaking all my rares down if i cant use them on my Ra, will stop doing that henceforth

Thanks to all of you for helping. The game is great, the enemies get a bit wierd the further in i get which can be offputting, but i spent well over 2000hours on the old PSO games and they only had 4 zones to begin with, i sure i will find myself playing ep1 and a bit of 2 more than the later stuff.

I think they should do a legacy patch and bring the old maps and enemies in :)

That's what I was hoping when they first announced the Pioneer 1 team room, and all the other costumes. Thought it was gonna lead to something more, but it just ended up being ragol memories. Oh well. Whatca gonna do.

Some interesting tidbits from this week's Dengeki.
The biggest is probably a new Board type used for ep. 4 story. Instead of the matter board, new story will use a "Story Board", which makes the progress easier for both main and side stories.

On the other hand a highschool girl is going to be a key character now, so I'm not really expecting great storytelling.

I decided to do one quick EQ run during my lunch break and got my 3rd or so 12* weapon.
While the abilities don't look that amazing, I think it's one of my first 8 slot items.

Do you guys think we will get some more info on the new storage system soon? Kinda want to know how it will be integrated if you have more than one character.

Since it's "Character Storage" and it moves with your character when you transfer ships, I assume that it's character specific and you can't use it to transfer items between characters.
There's a livestream happening this Sunday, so we'll probably get the rest of the details then.

Ahh cool. I was wonder how that was going to work since everything is shared at the moment. Would suck if you lost access to certain armors or weapons cause they got tied to another character with no way to choose what went where before.

A small PSA for people who are thinking about changing servers - the price will go back up from the current 350 AC to 700 AC during the maintenance on 01.27.
Obviously, moving later will allow you to use the character storage, but if someone wants to spend as little as possible or doesn't have that many items, moving before the maintenance is a good idea.

How does that work anyways? Does it automatically kick in the moment you buy it?

Oh, so you can hold on to it til you want to change? Cool, might buy one just in case then
You misunderstood me. It's not an item - you choose an option in character services on the character selection screen and that character becomes flagged to be transferred during the next maintenance. The money is also taken during that maintenance and the transfer fails if you don't have enough AC on you.

Watched the second episode of the PSO2 anime yesterday.
It continues to be... not great. I really don't understand why they're focusing so much on the real world, since it's supposed to be an ad for the game.

I still think it has a potential to be at least mildly interesting, but they would really have to switch the focus for that.

Edit:
Well, at least the anime already resulted in a huge increase of new registrations, according to the official blog.
