On record just means they're happy to have the journalist publish a quote, anonymously or not.

If its anonymous then the source isnt on the record.
On the record requires the source to be identifiable....if they are speaking anonymously then they are on the background.

Off the record mean nothing said can be published, it just gives journos a lead to start following themselves.

Now you sound like a A.I. Bot

"xbox bad, Xbox tax, Xbox hate, Media bias"... so annoying.

it is not because "xbox bad" but because is fricking content and click bait (some people make a living out of it) are you new to the internet?

PS: it dosen't help Xbox's situation in the market.... which is trash.

Your post makes no sense as usual. The article is fake and it was very obviously fake from the way it was written. The only reason people took it as gospel is because it was about Xbox. Simple as.

No it isn't. "Why is PlayStation getting special treatment, why not Xbox too?" "Because there's no demand for Xbox here in Asia". Perfectly normal answer.
It Is not the viral phrase "no one needs this platform"??...

The fact is that not even the actual words are known, nor even their veracity to affirm anything. But come on, the fact that the Studio itself has come out to distance itself from these statements and defend the opposite idea says it all.

It's simple, Xbox makes content based in drama and negativity, thats the only thing they have provided to the gaming discourse.

in other words; its profitable to shit on Xbox as well as defend it.

that brand exists and thrives in the worst aspect of the internet.

The company wouldn't have made a pr statement if it weren't serious.

Some people are forgetting that these companies need all platforms if they want to make money.

I believe that was the quote that was pulled out of someones ass, it wasn't in the original article that was the source of the other one.
This is the original article: https://www.aroged.com/2024/08/01/w...hey-ignore-xbox-few-people-need-this-console/
Last week, China hosted the huge ChinaJoy 2024 gaming expo. Local developers showcased their most exciting new titles, with the action games Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero particularly catching the attention of gamers. PlayStation was the official partner of both games, which caused some discontent among gamers who prefer to play on Xbox. However, the developers themselves quickly cleared up the confusion by stating that they have no exclusive agreements with Sony.

The developers emphasized that they are very happy with the cooperation with the PlayStation gaming division. They noted that Sony actively helps them promote games both inside and outside of China. Despite this, the cooperation does not impose any restrictions on them. The developers retain the right to independently choose the platforms for the release, and at the moment they see great prospects in PC and PS5.

The anonymous developer of Phantom Blade Zero emphasized that Sony specialists are actively helping not only with the optimization of the game for PS5, but also for PC. In response to a question about the preference of PlayStation over Xbox, he expressed the opinion that Xbox is a platform that does not find demand, especially in Asia. In addition, the developer claims that the Microsoft ecosystem has proven to be too complex for publishing games, which makes it not the most attractive choice for studios.
Nothing here seems far-fetched or unprofessional.

You are completely missing the point. The article was from a no name website, citing a journo that worked for a different website, citing an anonymous dev. Full of nonsense like “Sony is publishing Wukong.”

Yet here you are on the first page taking it at face value.

Not really. An anonymous person is allowed to say something on record. Off record just means that person doesn't want what they're about to say to be published or made public.

The source never said they're publishing Wukong. They said it's almost as if they're publishing as in providing support in some ways (then they listed the ways, marketing, booths at events etc).

you are the one missing the point. Neogaf is not the epicenter of this or any drama anymore and I'm irrelevant.

it's because of Twitter this "news" gained steam in the first place.

Why Twitter? because a bunch of content creators/gaming outlets use it to make money.... and what brings money?.... the drama.

Now. When is this and the monkey game coming to Xbox? or why are they not coming the same day to PS or PC?

I will tell you why:

Xbox bad.
