Phantom Blade Zero's creator has doubled down on the reminder that his upcoming action RPG definitely isn't a Soulslike, nor is it a "traditional action game" – in fact, he believes it could "create a new identity" entirely.
Developed by S-Game, Phantom Blade Zero puts players into the shoes of an assassin, and in a new statement from its creator (as well as CEO of S-Game) Soulframe Liang, it's acknowledged that when the game was "first announced, people thought it was a 'Soulslike.' After all, it seemed to feature interconnected maps, hidden secrets, and those sigh-of-relief checkpoints."
Furthermore, as previously confirmed, the studio reminds us that Phantom Blade Zero features difficulty options, and overall will be an accessible game for all players. The difficulties are:
- Gamechanger (standard) — offers a balance between challenge and fun, being the ideal starting point for most players.
- Wayfarer — the easiest mode, designed for those with little to no experience with action games, providing a more accessible and relaxed experience.
- Hellwalker — the hardest mode, which is only unlocked in New Game+ in the full version. Here, you will face smarter artificial intelligence, reorganized attack patterns, and even completely new moves, created especially for those who truly seek an extreme challenge.
